I have narrow heels, high instep, and fallen arches, so my feet are difficult to please, but they love these shoes. Comfortable right out of the box. Great underfoot support. The waterproof description does not mean you can go wading in water up to your ankles, but it does mean running through a few shallow puddles and getting splashed by some rain is not going to penetrate these shoes, your feet will stay dry. These shoes may be a little warm for wearing in the summer, but they are great in mild to cold weather. Best of all for me, the insides are smooth, no bulky seams digging into my feet. Highly recommend for choosy feet.

True to size, and really wanted to like these... but they just look way too big and clunky for me! I was looking for a slimmer hiking shoe, more like the old Sirens I have. Returned these because I looked like a clown in them, especially in shorts, and went with Merrell's sleeker-looking All Out Blaze instead. The two are pictured for side by side for size comparison (both size 8.5). These honestly feel like chunky skateboarding shoes to me--squishy and comfy, but just not what I was going for. Also a note on these: large toe box, very little arch support.

I ordered a 7.5 (my normal shoe size) and an 8 (up the 1/2 a size everyone recommended); the 8 fit better. I was considering these or the Ahnu Montara II. These are much heavier, and looked very large, and clunky on my feet. But the main reason I didn't keep these was I was concerned about the quality of their waterproof ability. While the mesh is great for allowing one's foot to breathe, it also would allow moisture and water in. I read many reviews that gave this shoe a low score for their waterproof claim. It was due to this that I ultimately decided against this shoe.

Comfortable, but not waterproof. Will not buy Merrel again. This was my third "waterproof" shoe from Merrell that was not waterproof just walking in dew laden grass. Disgusted.

I bought these hiking shoes for a trip to Yosemite and they held up pretty well. Although they are labeled waterproof, I don't think they are 100%. After a day of walking around in the rain, my toes were ever so slightly damp. Not much. Generally, these were great for keeping my feet dry in the pouring rain and walking through shallow puddles. Arch support is decent. Fit is good and the styling isn't bad for hiking shoes. I would recommend these for easy to moderate day hiking in damp conditions.

Got these for a trip to the Olympic Peninsula. Best purchase I could have made. Lighter than a full hiking boot and didn't exhaust my ankles. Never slipped, nice and grippy, wore them walking on the beach too and never leaked. Comfortable and decent looking enough that I wore them walking around the city a bit, too. Throwing out my old hiking boots when I get home!

Looks great but definitely fits a little on the small side. I will go a half size up.

I finally got fed up with using running tennis shoes for walking. So I bought these, put my arch inserts in and love them. I would not be able to use them without my arch inserts. Wish I had done this long ago. I have a long narrow foot with high arches. I'm really happy using these shoes for my daily walks with the dog. I haven't tested the waterproofing but expect that it will keep socks dry if I get caught in wet areas. The Drizzle/Mint Color is the most feminine of the choices offered. I like the sturdy vibram sole. Feels very stable on all surfaces. I have a pair of Vasque high top leather hiking boots for real hiking but these Merrel's are perfect for everyday walks! P.S. My old tennis shoes are in the trash!

These feel true to size but they are a tiny bit on the small side. I am fine with my usual size, but the shoes do not have any extra room in the toe box. I ordered a Wide, and they are wide enough but not overly so. The arch support seems good, probably a little better than "moderate." I've been doing a lot of hiking in the last months and I really needed something that worked better on trails. I've always had high arches, high instep, wide toes, narrow heel. Now I have arthritis in the metatarsal joints on the top of my left foot, so I find few shoes that really work for me. I need good support but a non-flexible sole. I had been hiking in my Vionic sneakers, and although they are great for walking, the smooth soles on mine do not lend well to paths covered in pine needles or dry leaves - I needed more grip. Unfortunately, I pulled something in my left leg while hiking the day before I received these, so I have not had a chance to give them a workout on a trail as of yet! I am showing a photo of how my podiatrist advised me to lace my left shoe to lessen the pressure on the swollen metatarsal area.

I held off on reviewing this shoe until after I’d returned from my trip to Ireland. Of course I’d worn them around the house to see if they fit, but I couldn’t imagine that would be a good representation of how they’d feel walking all day in grass and rain- because at home - They were so incredibly comfortable at one point I forgot I had shoes on! This trend continued on my trip. I wear an 8 in just about every shoe or sneaker and I bought an 8. Perfect fit, and they are lightweight compared to most trail shoes I come across. Side note: I have a disability that makes my legs and feet hurt and swell and these shoes have been a godsend. I wear them on rainy, city days, plenty.

The best! Shoes oftentime hurt my feet so I was concerned that I didn't have a great deal of time to break in these shoes before my trip of hiking. Fortunately, I had no trouble with them at all. They were supportive, comfortable, warm and dry.

These shoes are perfection! Comfortable insole, nice grippy soles, not heavy. Far superior to the North Face Hedgehogs I ordered for comparison. I wore these on a hiking trip to Mount Rainier and was very happy in them! The trails were pretty snowy but my feet stayed nice and dry.

I have all kinds of Merrel shoes and boots but never tried their sneakers. I bought these and my feet immediately thanked me. I don't know why I waited so long. These are really well made...you feel the difference right away. Great, grippy treads, cool colors, arch support and waterproof to boot! When I wear these I feel as sure footed as a mountain goat...seriously, they make a difference.

I have plantar fasciitis, high rigid arches, and I supinate. Because of some other assorted orthopaedic issues, I always wear Brooks Glycerin or Ghost, but I wanted something a little tougher and sturdier for some light hiking over mixed trails. These Merrell Moab 2s are perfect. Comfortable right out of the box, and did not need to be broken in. I could not wear them as my all-day, every-day shoe; but for walking through forest preserves and state parks, they were just what I needed.

I have narrow bony feet that need TLC in my walking shoes. This is my second pair of Merrill low hikers and I LOVE them. Comfy right out of the box, stable, waterproof. They are going to Europe with me this Spring & I know they will be great for those cobblestone streets ( that Italian women can negotiate in heels!). Di t even bother to try other brands-- these are the best.

The wide width is just barely. And they are basic a big clunky box. Add that to the overly stiff style for a low hiking boots (which should flex more like runners if you don't want to ruin your feet) and these are a non-starter, unfortunately.

I have a wide foot and a bunion, so I got this and wide. It was way too tight across my toes. The shoes are quite attractive – imagine would work well for people with less wide feet. I ended up buying the same shoe model, slightly different color combination, in the men’s wide and it fit perfectly (From a woman’s size 9 wide to a men’s size 7 1/2 wide).

This is my third pair of the same style shoe. My old ones are getting worn on the soles and look kinda grungy at ten years old. My middle pair are still great. I wore them everyday all over Ireland last year and now wear them for daily walks in woods on both paved and dirt trails. But they were getting mud on soles, so now I have a new (third) pair of hiking shoes I use for dressy occasions!! Only kidding, but I wear them daily anyplace they won’t get muddy, like shopping or visiting. As soon as they are delivered, I wear them in house all the next day to test for comfort. They hug and support my feet perfectly. Love them! I am 75 years old. btw, I have always bought them a half size bigger than my regular size because I wear bulkier wool socks in winter.

Before I tell you how amazing this shoe is, let me first say I currently am dealing with an ingrown toenail (bad pedi). Also my R foot is an 8, my L is a 9, but in closed toe shoes I get a 9.5 Right out of the box I wore these shoes for 4 hours, cutting trees and dragging branches. My feet never bothered me. And even though I was wet with sweat, my feet never got uncomfortably warm. I was walking on uneven ground and rocks and broken branches but the shoes kept me comfy and steady on my feet. They’re easy to walk in even though they’re not flexible like a sneaker.

Loved these shoes, great color but they felt a little snug on one foot, so I'm opting to keep the one 1/2 size bigger.

Most comfortable shoes ever!! Seriously. This is my 2nd pair of Merrell shoes and I know I will be buying more. I spend a lot of time on my feet and walking and I've never had a shoe that was as comfortable as these are. I wear them everyday for at least 16 hours a day and my feet don't hurt at all. My feet tend to be wide so I buy wide width and they fit perfectly. I will be back to buy these again.

Yippee!! The Merrell Moab 2 is perfect. Comfortable, but sturdy, and true to size. And, the Zappos team is perfect too.

I love these trail shoes! I wear them all summer when I teach camp and outdoor programs. However, the waterproofing only lasts for about 9 months and then it's wet feet!

Merrell sizes don't run true. In one style my normal size is to big, in a different style to small. This style was small, I wish it were easier to buy without the trial and error.

Reviewed at Merrell
I am so pleased with this shoe. Merrell makes a shoe that lasts. I still have my Merrell shoes from 20 years ago. I wear them almost daily. I decided it was time to retire them and use them when gardening. I bought the Merrell Moab 2 Waterproof since I camp, fish, and hike. I went with the wide shoe this time because I suffer from extreme osteoarthritis in my toes and recently had joint replacement in them. Wanted to have a little more room in the toe box area. These have not disappointed me. Being 70 years old, your feet do widen a bit as you get older from the constant walking; not to mention gravity pulling down. I hope these last as long. My first pair were actual leather so although they weren't waterproof I was able to put waterproofing on them. I am pleased with the style, look, and fit. They fit to my true size of 8.5. I am confident I can wear them with thin or thicker socks and not compromise their comfort. Hope this review helps others make an informed decision.
