They fit very comfortably, it's a soft elastic waist with soft durable material. I got the medium, I'm 5'6" and 130lbs. and it's a little roomy which is what I like. Also I'm in my 60's so my body shape is different from a younger gal. I also LOVE the pockets.

Runs slightly large. Purchased a medium but should have gone with a small. For reference 5’ 7” 139 lbs. Very soft waist band, lots of pockets!

Another well made pair of shorts from RR. They fit true to size; I'm 5'4", 130 lbs and the med is comfortably loose.

They're ok. Not the fabric I was expecting. Zero stretch. Cute shorts though.

I live in these in summer in Colorado. I hike in them and also dress them up with a cute gauze button down shirt for casual lunches out, etc. They’re very versatile. Super comfy. Loose with a drawstring to make sure the waist fits. I have them in a couple colors.

Very comfortable. Quick dry material - which I didn't expect so was a nice surprise since I bought these to wear to the US Open tennis tournament. Good length to be somewhat professional. I do not really like draw strings, so I just tuck it into the pockets.

Just some casual shorts I bought for camping and stuff like that. They're very comfortable with the stretchy waist. The material is thin, and while honestly I prefer cotton, it was fine. I knew what I was getting. They met my expectations. Would buy again.

I typically only right positive product reviews but as a first time purchaser of Royal Robbins, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of this "premium" short that was worn beyond proper wearing after ONE day of relatively easy hiking. The side I carry my pack on was completely pilled. These shorts are absolutely soft and fit well in the dressing room, but they are NOT durable enough for outdoor activity wear. I would expect better quality from a generic clothing value brand let alone a brand that markets itself as a high-end, sustainable option for hikers.
