Better but still not the shoes we wore in the 1970s and '80s. About ten years ago, I was excited to see Tretorns available again. I ordered them, but sent them back because the quality was just terrible. These are closer, but still no cigar. (see pics for examples from the '80s) Why? From front to back: 1. The toe box is too rounded in front, which looks kind of dopey. The original Tretorns came to a nice taper in the front. Don't look like my Nanas shoes. 2. The swoosh/loop. The colored loop on the side, to look as they used to, should be stitched in white. 3. Fit. The tongue had a loop sewn onto it that held the laces in place and kept the tongue from sliding around. 4. Also fit: The tongue was longer, so it wouldn't slide into the shoe. 5. Also fit: The collar. This is a deal-breaker for me. The collar is the part of the shoe that goes up at the back of the heel. On the new Tretorns, it's almost level with the rest of the opening. On the old Tretorns, it went up to ensure the shoe fit comfortably and stayed on. This part isn't about nostalgia for me (though these shoes are 100% a nostalgia buy for me, so those details are also important). They're just not comfortable and don't stay on. They rub on the heel instead of hugging it. So -- better, but not there yet. I'd love to see Tretorn issue a pair of shoes with the thought and detail they used to put into them.

I used to wear Tretorn back in the 1970's and 1980's when I was a child. I had not thought of these shoes in decades when I ran across them on this website. I had to order a pair to see if they were as comfortable as I remember. They are! The support is nice, the interior soft (still lined with terrycloth), and they look great. Mind you, the price tag has gone up considerably from my youth tennis days, but for a middle aged female with foot and ankle problems who just wanted some cute, supportive, comfortable shoes to throw on with leggings, they are definitely worth the price. I will likely order another pair or two! It's like stepping into a time machine back to my youth, and I smile every time I put them on...they're that comfortable as well as nostalgic!

Highly recommend this shoe if you're looking for fashion/casual white sneakers for spring/summer to replace a pair of Stan Smiths. I purchased a size 7 in this style and they fit true to size. I have wide feet so I "sized up" to a size 7 but found that the size 7 length was best. Expect some creasing with wear but these are white sneakers so signs of wear will show. for your reference, my shoe sizes: size 6.5 Keen Women's Sage Slip Ons; size 6.5 Superga COTU shoes; size 7 Nike Court Shoes; size 7.5 Nike Free 5.0 Trainers.

I was looking for a pair of canvas sneakers that were not as low or flat as Keds or Converse. The moment I put on these shoes, I knew I was going to keep them. They are light in weight and the sole provides good cushion while walking on the rocks. I got them in black, which looks very nice with jeans and pants. I'm mostly size 8.5, in some shoes 8. I ordered them in 8.5, put them on with thick socks and they were true to size. I'm very happy with my purchase! Thank you Zappos for the lightening fast delivery!

After seeing all the 5 star review...I thought...I have got to try these. So having done so.... not so much. They were not all that cute (especially in my size 10) Comfort was middle of the road and with just a little wear through the house..I knew my hips and knees were not going to like these either. Being extremely active at 66, with arthrities and foot problems...I am going to have to stick with my Nikes. Even for just quick shopping trips...Really wanted to like these...would have look super cute with my faded skinny jeans. :-( Thank you Zappos for letting me try!

Love these just as much as the pair I wore growing up in the 80s & 90s playing tennis. I bought these to wear to a Wooden Racket Tennis Tournament to match a vintage 1970s Chrissie Evert tennis dress, so it was more for look than function. But I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were to play tennis in. Looking forward to wearing these with regular, modern-day clothes too. :)

Had Tretorns 30 years ago and decided to go back to them. They are very comfortable right out of the box. Lengthwise seemed like a good true 11. I also wear an 11 in Converse Shorelines. Both the Shorelines and Tretorns are Med width, but the Tretorns seemed wider. I have narrow feet so would have preferred a "narrower medium". I also have high arches so I did add additional arch support which helps and the additional inserts help with the width issue.

These shoes are amazing! The sole is very comfortable, very cushion-y and has good arch support. There are breathable holes in the side of the shoe that allow you to wear the shoes without socks without having a pool of foot sweat in your shoe. This feature really seemed to work for me and it's something most shoe companies fail to deliver. PRE-WARNING- when I first got the shoe, it seemed to be slightly small, maybe like a half size too small. I was considering sending it back, but after a couple of wears, it fit perfectly with a little bit of room. So before you return your pair and get a new size, just see if it expands a little by wearing them 2-3 times. Overall, this shoe was totally worth the buy. Definitely planning to buy more shoes from tretorn in the future.

I wear a size 4 in women’s, I can wear kids tennis shoes, but they normally don’t have enough support for me, . I was so pleased with the fit and feel of the Tretorn’s. I’m on my feet 8-10 hours a day, so comfortable shoes are a must, .

I chose my regular size and my toe was touching the end so I went up a half size. Perfect:). Zappos made the return easy. They sent the new size at no charge the next day. They give you a few weeks to return the pair you do not want. I wore Tretorns in middle and high school and through college. So glad they are back!

I loved these shoes at first but after wearing for more than an hour my ankles were bleeding and the seams were rubbing my toes into blisters. I have a wide ish foot and there was plenty of room for me. Being flat footed, I don’t need arch support but found these shoes to have nice cushioning. The style is great and unique for a sneaker but I hate that I wasted so much money for bloody heels and blistered toes.

I was a little worried about the color, I wanted Navy I wasn't sure if they were black or navy, the customer service rep from Zappos did some research and was 95% sure they were Navy, and they were. The fit was perfect, very comfortable. They arrived with white shoelaces, but also came with navy ones. I wear between an 8.50 & 9 but went with the 9's. fit was great. Will look good with summer dresses or shorts, old school looking, Love them....

I am a senior with one bad foot. I am obsessed with the new white sole. It takes me back in time:) I normally wear Sketchers. All of them, high top and low with this sole, felt ok but were heavy. I bought this because of the canvas and the reviews and am in love!! I normally don't wear tennis shoes and have never even heard of the company. So comfortable, that shoe feels like wearing nothing but has support and I don't feel like I am walking like a duck...lol. A bit pricier than the Sketchers but still inexpensive compared to many shoes. Absolutely love and thinking about buying another of the same thing because that's how I roll...lol.

Well, this incarnation isn't exactly like the late 70's early 80's version, but close enough. (That super soft terry interior is apparently never coming back.) However, in every other way, these fit the bill and are identical to the classic version. I wear either a 6.5 or 7, depending on the shoe, and ordered these in a 6.5. They were a little snug with thinnish socks, but did stretch out after several hours of wear. They now fit perfectly and are very comfy. I wouldn't go hiking in these nor would I play tennis in them, but for normal street wear they are ideal. Bring on the Dickies and the ribbon belts!

True to size in comparison to today’s sneakers and very generous in the width. If you used to wear tretorns decades ago, they run a bit large. (I would not recommend todays version for people with narrow feet). I ordered a size 7 and I am between a B and C in width. This was more than ample. Very light. The metallic shade is warm toned and has a texture - almost like a ribbed or herringbone effect. Fit is similar to VANs (slip on DX leather). Fit is shorter and wider than Converse.

These shoes are super cute. They are perfect for wearing casually. I originally ordered the 7 because of the reviews. (I usually wear a (7-7.5). I have a narrow long foot I felt like they were a little cramped at the big toe. I sent them back and got the 7.5 perfect now with sock or with out.

I have a slightly narrow foot and wear a 9.5 in most shoes (occasionally I take a 9 in flats). The 9.5 fit beautifully. I was pleasantly surprised by just how comfortable these Tretorns are; the soles are cloud-like. And the padded opening means heel blisters aren’t happening. Very happy with this purchase!

Round 3 to get a pair to fit. Leather ran weird and small. Tried my suggested 1/2 size up in canvas and they were super big. Finally canvas in my regular size 5 !

I bought the red color of these shoes. The first size was 7 which is her size in running shoes. It was too large. The size 6 fit perfectly. The shoe is really cute an looks great with her jeans and shorts. She says they are extremely comfortable and oves them.
