Very aggressive arch support! The toe box is too tapered. That makes it look nice but scrunches up my toes. I'd rather have a clunkier looking shoe (this is not a dress shoe after all) with room for my toes to wiggle. They're suede, so they might stretch. Trying them on in the house I get the feeling that all that arch support might begin to bother me when walking, and I'm a big fan of arch support. It doesn't help that I overpronate a little, which forces my foot against the inside of the shoe. But the arch support comes up very high on the side of the foot, even when sitting, so it's partly the design of the shoes. I had a pair of Merrell mocs back in the day and they were wonderful. Several years and orthopedic surgeries later, these don't feel as good. I'm pretty sure they've changed the design (why do so many shoemakers fix something that ain't broke?) and I know my "design" has changed too, so I guess it's a combo. I'll wear them a little longer around the house and see if I need to send them back. I have yet to find a moc/clog that comes close to my Old Friend Ice, which has a wonderful roomy toe box.

Perfect for me! I'm not afraid of winter ice any more! I've worn the waterproof Merrell Jungle Mocs 9 months a year for several years. They offer the arch support I need, a comfortable fit right out of the box with a wider toe area than most other shoes, and slip-on convenience. My only complaints involved the sole, which was slippery on wet surfaces and wore out fast. The Ice+ version solves those problems, and gives me 100% confidence on ice. This winter I wore Ice+ on black ice and normal snow and ice, and never slipped at all. In fact, I had more confidence in these than my boots, which I never wore this past winter - I wore Ice+ everywhere. Later I realized that since they're the most expensive version, I should have saved them for icy snowy days, but the sole doesn't show any wear. I never want to be without these shoes, so I bought another 2 pairs which should last the next 5 years or more. Thanks Merrell!

Great winter shoe. You probably want to order a half size larger than your regular size as these run small. I wear a 9 in all other Merrells but needed a 9 1/2 in these.

I have to amend my earlier review. I love these shows but they don’t love me. After wearing them for 2 hours wearing thin socks my feet begged me to take them off. It’s not the kind of thing tgat’s Going to change as the shows stretch. I really wanted these to work. Sad. Now I have to spend days looking for a different pair.

I have a low volume foot, no bunions, narrow heel, recovered from plantar fasciitis and a fairly high arch. Out of the box - I can’t wear thick socks butvtgey very comfy with a thin wool sock. I live in the Northeast so socks with these shoes is essential. I plan to wear them to Greenland in July and hope they give (not stretch) some by then. It’s the perfect length for a traditional size 9 but seem a tad narrow. I still gave them 5 stars because the pigskin will give. I wanted black but it wasn’t available in my size so I got the gray color. I’m very pleased with the color. It’s quite dark and a true gray not brownish.

I have bought many Jungle Mocs and usually size 10 is good for me in the winter with heavier socks. These though were impossible to get on with my usual socks as the opening was so small, and I was going to return them. However I tried them with lighter weight socks and using a shoe horn my foot went in. Once on, the shoes feel fine and I'm hoping that the elastic loosens up after a few wearings to make them easier to get on. I have high arches and had plantar fasciitis and Merrell jungle mocs are my go-to shoes for trips where I am going to be doing a lot of walking on different types of terrain. I know that I won't have foot troubles after walking 10 miles or so a day. So far I haven't tried out the ice gripping properties of these mocs but it was the reason that I bought these and I have high hopes with these Merrells.

These Merrel’s fit good and are very comfortable to walk in for several miles. They are easier to slip my foot into then the Jungle Moc style. Their sole does provide traction but ice is still ice...

Fantastic!! Went for 3 mile walk on icy/snow covered path, no slipping at all!! Way better than having to put YakTrax on and off a shoe.

Awesome shoe for snow and ice! Very comfortable -- I like the arch support and they feel very stable.

I live in Chicago which frequently has long winters made treacherous by snow-covered ice. These shoes are absolutely amazing for those conditions: The shoe is constructed so that your heel naturally "falls"backward as you walk, there is significant arch support so your feet are supported walking on slick surfaces and the toe is lighter so the whole shoe is pleasantly balanced as you walk. As someone who has spent half a year in physical therapy due to fracturing my shoulder/arm, I've been avoiding even leaving the house during snowy, slick conditions. Thanks to this shoe, I was able to comfortably and confidently walk miles each day in icy conditions. And, even after 90 minutes of walking, my feet were completely dry and warm!
