This has been in issue with Levi's for years now, the low rise waist. As a brand Levi's, the originator of blue jeans, now caves to very generalized market trends. Whether through their advertising or their fits the have lost a lot of their blue collar customers. Case in point all of their models now sit very low on the waist, a trend that started with Jr girls pants in the early 2000's and somehow permitted the market. It's really unfortunate because Levi's is the American brand that started it all, but it you want traditional fitting, durable jeans Levi's is not the brand anymore. Even the 501's lowered the waist band. I really like the 502 jeans other than the low, low waist band. Even if you hike your jeans up it feels like your pants just aren't all the way on. Other designers know that a higher waist band is actually better looking and better fitting and more functional with pockets in the right place and zippers that are long enough to actually use. I hope Levi's goes back to a traditional waist band, one that just sits naturally at your hip. I really want to be a Levi's customer again, but every time I try a pair it's the same problem. I'm an adult man and I don't want pants that fit like children's clothing. Get back to your roots Levi's, make real denim jeans again - you will win back a lot of customers.

I bought these as a replacement for the Levis 508 Taper Jeans, which have been discontinued (though you can still buy them, in limited options for washes). I liked the multiple options for different washes in the 502; I ordered Blue Stone. However, the 502 is much less slim in the leg than the 508, and is wider at the ankle, so I wouldn't say it is a replacement. They have much less of the fitted look that the 508s provide. Levi's - keep making the 508, and make them in more washes!

These are more like skinny fit hipster jeans. I am 5'8", 150 lbs, with an average build. Levis uses outrageous vanity sizing, so although I normally wear a 30, I bought the size 28 and 29 to compare -- the 29 had plenty of room in the waist, but was competitive cyclist spandex tight over my thighs. The size 28 probably would have fit better in the waist, but I couldn't get them over my thighs. They were even tighter than normal 501s. I don't have particularly large thighs -- I think these are probably a better match for a San Francisco record shop employee with a mustache.

I'm happy with these 502 jeans. They're stylish and go well with boots or sneakers. I prefer the 502's tapered leg over the 514's straight leg. Highly recommend if you're a smaller/skinnier person who likes looser/relaxed clothing, but doesn't want to appear as if they're swimming in their clothes.

First time ordering and they sent the damaged/used pairs, which is unacceptable! If I wanted used pants, I would've gone on ebay and pay a discounted price. However, I paid price for a brand. This was my first experience ordering from Zappos, and i very disappointing.

Excellent fit. I could have used a little more guidance on material I liked the bull chinos so much, I ordered a pair that were manufactured with stretch material. They appeared to be a little larger in waist. I was looking for a traditional jeans alternative, which would be appropriate for the golf course. These fit the bill. Zappos ease of order, returns & delivery is the best.

I buy nothing but 502s now. Some colors are more elastic than others, but they're all great. Pay attention to the descriptions so you know whether your pair are really stretchy or slightly stretchy. And always remember to put your socks on BEFORE the pants because it's hard to get your cuffs back down over your socks without rolling the tops of your socks back down.

Great jean for my 7th grader who wanted a tapered (more stylish) fit that wasn't "skinny" or "slim" in the hip/butt area. He has a medium/tall build for his age and we ended up with the 30 x 32. May want to order a couple sizes to see which fits better if you're in between. That's the beauty of zappos - free returns!!!

Finally a pair of Levis that fits. I've been wearing 501s or 505s for years and they were always baggy in the legs. As a slim guy they never really fit well. The 502 style is perfect and comparable to much more expensive slim cut jeans I've recently purchased.
I'd also recommend:

Excellent boyfriend jeans for a woman. They are mid-rise and nip in at the waist. I had to buy one size bigger than in women’s Levi’s, but they were a great alternative to the 501s I wore in high school and had to have altered at the waist. Also, I find that a little stretch makes them much easier to wear - the 501 with no stretch was decidedly hard on my knees!

These pants are great however be warned that they easily shrink 2 inches in the length. Maybe a bit in the waist too.

So weird, this is 4th pair ordered and kept all others because the denim was thicker and stretched more but these felt cheap like factory reject or old navy jeans!

Terrible jean... stretch denim is not jean material.Would never recommend this product stick with 100% cotton. This is made for the chubba babbas...

Great fitting pants, but a bit slimmer than I’m used to. I wear a 30 waist pant and had to purchase a 31 waist to achieve my normal fit. They also run slightly short, I normally wear a 32 for a baggier look and a 30 when I want the pant leg to meet the shoe. I’m 5’9 and needed to buy a 32 length to meet the shoe, a 30 length stopped at my ankle. Very clean looking pant with the flat front and khaki color. A great addition to my wardrobe as they can be dressed up or dressed down depending on what you wear with it.

Good fit and very comfortable. Fabric is a little lighter which enhances the comfort. I have what might be considered "thinner" legs and this fit seems to help the overall appearance of my physique.
