These run small if you're using US sizing. I felt that the European sizing is closer to actual size. Things to consider: these are sized to stretch and probably shouldn't be perfect out of the box. In fact, they stretch really well especially in width. A LITTLE pressure is ok and stretches over time as long as long as you're not toe curlng in the front. Mine stretched enough to necessitate a heel slip in the back of my smaller foot which makes sense given what I'm about to describe. Secondly, these are sized to be worn barefoot, so if you're wearing socks and/or correct toes you may want to size up. I felt that a 40 would be appropriate for an 8-8.5 foot and a 41 for a size 9 after a good stretching. I wear an 8 on one foot and a nine on the other and ended up wearing the 41s with correct toes and thin socks. Though I sent the fortys back, they might have stretched to perfection on my smaller foot. However, I was afraid they might not have stretched to a 9 for my larger one. I also thought it important to mention that while the elastic keeps the heels from slipping off nicely, it pushes the foot forward to the front of the toebox, hence the need for stretch.
Just a side note: Zappos has the best customer service I've ever experienced. Thank you Zappos.com. I hope many find this review helpful.

I have never been able to wear ballerina flats until now! These are super roomy, the top edge of the shoe is soft and flexible, does not dig into the side of my big toe. You can really feel the floor under your foot and the toe box is large enough for my toes to move. I love the brown leather look and feel!

Vivobarefoot is my favorite shoe brand, and this flat had potential but ultimately didn’t work out. The back really juts forward and pushes your foot to the front of the shoe, which in turn rubs your Achilles pretty hard and leaves a big awkward gap around the bottom of the heel. If the back were able to stand straight up, it would be a amazing because otherwise it’s super light, roomy, flexible and leaves lots of room for your toes to spread out. I hope Vivo will tweak their design and release a better version in the future.

These are super cute and comfortable. I added a Dr. Scholls pad and they are perfect for all day walking. I am taking them to Paris next week!

These are comfortable and classy shoes. However, I've found the same issue other reviewers have mentioned, with some irritation at the top of the heel (in my case, only the right for some reason). This isn't a big thing, and I've done a lot of walking in them without any real problems — it seems to come and go for no apparent reason. I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks, and don't notice the irritation much now, so don't know if I'm getting used to it, or if it's conforming to my foot better. Anyway, certainly not a deal-breaker, because I really love these shoes!

I really like the style of these shoes. The toe box is wide so they might not be for everyone, but I think they're cute. I was looking for ballet flats to wear with jeans and they work well. There is definitely no arch support so I wouldn't wear them to do a lot of walking, but I wear them for running errands or going out to eat. The back of the shoe is a little tight but I cut a piece of moleskin (felt sticker for the inside of shoes) to fit and they have been pretty comfortable so far. I don't have any sores from rubbing. The color is really nice and the leather is too. I recommend them.

I expected to far less impressed with this shoe than I was. I needed a barefoot (minimalist) shoe for a job interview. I made the switch a few years ago and this was my first time needing something interview-friendly. I'm tall and I have never loved the look of flats on tall women, but these were surprisingly flattering. And yay for ballet flats being in style. They did not ruin my interview look!
I have very low-volume feet, and Vivobarefoot is known for fitting a narrow foot. Mine are B, so not narrow, just more skinny top to bottom. This is my 3rd pair of Vivos. The other 2 are sneakers and I have the same issue with one of those that I have with these: the shoe, although tight on so many, is very floppy on my skinny foot, so my toes get squished unless I wear toe spreaders. The tight elastic at the back pushes my foot forward so the heel is floppy and my toes are crammed up, which is not at all the point of a minimal shoe.
These shoes were more than I wanted to spend on an interview outfit and I didn't even get the job. Despite that, I actually chose to keep them. They'll be great for jeans and I will keep looking for my next venture in these shoes, with, I suppose, toe spreaders in to keep my foot anchored back.
Oh and as some reviewers point out, they do hurt after a while. I did the interview without socks - had a cute over the knee pencil skirt and that looked great. I wore them out for about 6 hours with jeans and thin wool socks and they hurt the back of my ankle by the end of the outing but not terribly so. Cute with jeans with a slight flare or wider. Distinctly weird with straight leg or narrower.
Anyone reading the 'no arch support' in the reviews: understand that that is by design! That's what barefoot or minimal shoes do: allow you to strengthen your foot and have room for your toes to spread.

Love these shoes. They are exactly what I was looking for in a minimalist, zero drop shoe to rework my feet from all of the damage of traditional women's shoes. They are nice looking (very similar to any other simple ballerina-type shoe) and they do not squeeze your toes! There is plenty of room in across the toe box for your feet to work as they were intended to do...no squished, overlapping toes!! Thank you Vivobarefoot!! Let's see more of this type of shoe that are made stylish for everyday wear...to work and everywhere in between...

Most comfortable ballet flats of all time. I love the vivobarefoot feel, and these are super cute, with plenty of room in the toe. They look sleek and fashionable too. Amazing!

So I tried both the 41 and 42. I decided on the 42. Both sizes fit. The 41’s were fine just a little snugger than the 42’s.

These shoes are excellent for situations that require relatively formal footwear but also walking. They can get painful after walking a couple of miles, but I have also been able to do up to five miles with no issues. I would also like to remark on the excellent quality of the leather. My only concern is that the padding on the back of the heel where the Achilles tendon meets the top of the shoe has come loose and has formed a lump halfway between the top and bottom of the heel.

These shoes rose up too much on the back of my heels and I know they would cause me blisters. Plus, they fit very strange. Too wide in some spots and not enough in others. Had to return them.

I love the Vivobarefoot concept: total flexibility. Feel the earth underneath without risk of unhealthy consequences. However, the Jing Jing design seems to not work for my foot: I find toes pushed forward while there is a gap of the base of the heel. I hope Vivobarefoot can find a way to correct this, and also to see if there's enough of a market to produce a wide or double wide. One the hopes these can fit for another, I will give them a 3 for concept, and keep checking for design updates.
