If you hate (like really hate) squishy memory foam shoes for working out, you'll like these shoes. Solid landing and very supportive. My feet stay put, with room to wiggle my toes, and my ankles feel safe. I like structured hard core, take a beating trainers, and these are that. My feet bounce back upon impact, instead of sinking in like with a foam sole. The ball of foot part of the last will take some breaking in, but I'm fine with that. Shoes with a break-in period are more durable in the long run.

They aren't the prettiest shoes but I would not wear anything else. This is my fourth pair of this style. It was recommended to me by a pedorthist to try these shoes to help relieve symptoms of planter fasciitis. Since starting to wear these from the 855 series I have not had any more issues. I use them for running, speed walking and at work where I am on my feet for 8 hours on concrete floors. This version, 857v2 seems a half size smaller than the regular 857. I had to order a half size up.

Shoes are a dream come true for me. They fit better than the fit I get when I go into a high quality shoe store. They feel absolutely GREAT on my feet, and are the double wide that I need for my bunions and hammer toe. Please keep making this shoe just like it is. It is superb!!!

I have high arches and a high instep. Since I have a partial orthotic for the arch, I can't speak to the support. However, I am happy these don't have the memory foam insoles that are trending right now. These have comfortable fairly firm insoles that don't mash down and let your foot get tired. I got the double wide, which is actually wide enough, yay! I work at the post office, so walking all day on cement. These are light enough to be comfortable and sturdy enough to be safe. They are also "tall" enough that I can use my orthotic without my instep getting smashed into the top of the shoe.

I bought these for work. I usually wear Asics but I have a pair of New Balance walking shoes that have held up very well and are very comfortable. Unfortunately these are not comfortable. These have no 'give' on the shoe bed so it's like standing on a hard surface all the time. I was hoping these would be comfortable for standing for long periods of time but they have to go back.

I volunteer at my local hospital and am on my feet for 4-5 hours a day. I needed a shoe that would absorb the impact of the cement floors, and this shoe is perfect! I had no leg or foot fatigue at the end of my shift. I highly recommend them!

I workout every morning -- mixed cardio, weight training, kickboxing -- and these are the ONLY workout shoes I would every use (in fact, I have been using them for years). They are comfortable, are perfect for any kind of workout you do & the support they provide is incredible. The most important thing for me is the lateral support they give you. Love, love these...and I so appreciate that the fit has been so consistent over the years. It's the only time I can order shoes online & can be sure of the fit.

What a wonderful shoe! Excellent support (saves a great deal of pain for me, as I have pain in my knees, hips & back). These shoes give plenty for room for my toes, and great fit over all...all this & pretty too!

I am in love with these shoes. To say I have "problem feet" is a gross understatement. Decades of damage from rheumatoid arthritis have made for painful walking. Until I found these shoes, I had to wear colorful athletic shoes all the time, just to remain ambulatory. These shoes not only look better with business-style attire but also are even more comfortable. Worn with my gel orthotics, they are like walking on a thick gym mat. Thank you, New Balance!

Because I have an extra wide foot I've always appreciated that NB offers a wide option....and even a 4E which is almost unheard of! The shoes have been comfortable and durable, lasting years in some cases. However, my biggest complaint is that when I order the extra width because I need it in the toe box, the ankle area is also very wide--too wide, which causes slippage. I would think that the majority of those who need wide need it in the toe box and only very rarely in the heal area. Anyone else have this issue?

This is a great shoe, but a bit different than my past NB shoes. It's more of a stiff, "hard" shoe that is comfortable. If you like squishy, soft shoes, you won't like this. It's got GREAT lateral support and is very grippy to the floor. The shoe is NOT sexy, but it's great for support and working out. They are fairly light and all business. I use Pro Spirit soles instead of what comes with them, so the sole is soft but firm. I really like these, but wish they were less bulky and not as "therapeutic" looking. However, I need this kind of support so they work and I like them! Took me about three days to get used to them, FYI.

Squeak, squeak, squeak. That was the sound of the shoes on a hard floor. Now granted, these shoes have a non-slip sole and I didn't realize that when I ordered them. Just beware that they will be noisy as they grip and "un-grip" from the flooring. The big problem for me with these shoes is the sizing. They run short and narrow. I typically wear a 10.5 B. I have many pairs of New Balance 10.5 B. I would need these in an 11 W if I was set on this style. For someone who needs a non-slip shoe, these would be good if you can get the correct size. But for me, back they go. Thank goodness for free shipping both ways. Thank you, Zappos.

Accuse I wear orthotics, I have to be very particular about how my shoes fit. I also have a very narrow heel, which makes it difficult to find shoes that fit well. Zappos provides such a good return policy that I am able to order all the shoes that I think might work and return them free of charge when I decide on a pair. I'm so thankful to have found the New Balance at Zappos! They fit wonderfully, and I am always pleased with them! Thanks, Zappos!

There shoes are great for someone like me with a small foot but relatively wide, tall toes. I have a wide toe but narrow heel. The toe box is tall, which accommodates my toes well. I only bought a second pair because I wore out the first :)

I was looking for a shoe with a lot of stability, because I tend to pronate when I walk. I walk 3 to 5 miles a day, and I usually wear out a shoe in six months or so. These shoes have an incredible amount of stability and are very comfortable. And, they look stylish too! Highly recommended.

I am a very healthy, active person who happens to have healthy, active and super super wide feet. When I start thinking I can go to specialty shoe stores and find shoes, I always surprise the person who is helping me with my wide feet and they can rarely fit me --- even with men's shoes!. Thank heavens for Zappos and these New Balance shoes. I wear this for jogging, tennis, pickleball, golf and yard work. I love them. They are comfortable and fit my beautifully wide feet.

This is the only sport shoe that fits my wide foot! I am 46, I am very active and have really healthy feet (no bunions or other foot issues). I do have a hard time finding a wide shoes and this is the only one that works! I play tennis, pickleball and go hiking and jogging and walking in this shoe! Thank heavens for this shoe!

This is a terrific sneaker. New Balance is one of the best sneakers because it offers so much support. I bought the all black color in size 6 because it wasn't as bulky looking as other brands. You won't be sorry if you buy it.

These are firm soled shoes that I use for jumping on a small fitness trampoline. For years I've been wearing an Asics walking shoe that worked great but it's no longer available. I tried various brands and types of shoes and most of them were too cushiony for jumping. I came across these and read the reviews and they seemed like they would work. I don't like them as much as my old Asics but I'm glad I found something that works. I needed to go up a half size in this shoe.

Have been wearing 857 for years. What I like best is the rise (moderate inclination) because it gives my heels a break. I wear orthotics for heel pain and now bunions. The problem with this new pair I am returning is that the sole does NOT feel as cushiony. Some people mention the clicking sound as you walk and I agree. There is something less comfortable to ear and foot in the new sole, new materials or shape? Am not sure, will keep trying. The fit is otherwise great, wide enough toe box for an otherwise narrow foot and heel. Still a good quality shoe!

What is going on with New Balance? Their sizing has really changed. I ended up with this style, WX857v2 because I was trying to replace my old and loved 928s. When I ordered the 928, Zappos correctly recommended that I go down a half size from (7 to 6.5) and based on customer reviews that were reporting a narrower fit, I got them in a 6.5 D and a 6.5 E. Both sizes were too narrow in the toe box and too wide in the heal which caused an unacceptable amount of slipping. I had to send them back and after looking around, I settled on the 857. But instead of a 7D which I've taken in New Balance for many years, I'm now a 6.5 EE. So, they are running longer and narrower. I did find that there was still a little heal slippage which I really hate, but by using the top most eyelet (which I've never used before) and pushing my heal all the way back before lacing up, that problem seems to be solved. These shoes have a harder sole than the old 928s but the insoles do come out and my own inserts fit fine. The toe box is nice and roomy. Are they cute? Not especially, but people won't point and laugh and I don't expect to be crippled by them and that's what I'm looking for in shoes these days.

I wear these box for walking around my home. I use wide width as I wear orthotics. These shoes have a narrower toe boxes and more pointed to the front. It is ok but they are not the best New Balance I have used.

I had to return the sneakers. Even though they were my correct size - 6EE - they were cut much too small across the toe area! This is the first time I have had a problem with New Balance sneakers! I hope you are not sacrificing comfort and fit for "style"! It's not worth it.

With the help of Zappos staff, I finally found a cross trainer shoe that might work. All of the others had been to narrow. Thus I ordered the extra wide size. Unfortunately, this turned out not to work either. I appreciate Zappos being willing to send me so many shoes. They have my business forever!
