Clearly a great shoe - I just couldn't quite get the fit I wanted. I ordered in wide, and it was so nice and roomy around the toes... but overall the shoe was a bit too big. Well made, good-looking, but not right for me.

This is the very best shoe for me. I hope it will always be in stock. I can feel my toe at the end of the shoe (size 13) but it doesn't hurt as the fabric is soft. I wish it were made in brown as well as the blue and black.

I reviewed this shoe last July. I overpronate and have bunion and hammertoe conditions and need a motion control shoe. I stated in my last review that I could not wear these for long periods of time because they did not control the pronation. However, these shoes now work for very long walks and are actually the most comfortable shoes that I have, like walking on clouds. So I wanted to amend my review for anyone else out there looking for a motion control shoe. I use my custom orthotic over the thin sole provided (I don't use the thicker one, although it will be great if you have less problematic feet). I do see that there is a bit too much room in the back of the shoe and I address this with wearing a fairly thick "no-see" sock liner which may be a bit hot in the summer. If it is I will actually have my podiatrist make me an orthotic with an especially deep heel counter (the heels that you can put in won't work since I keep putting my orthotic in and out). I have received many compliments on these shoes, which with the white sole provide a welcome playful quality for those of us not used to associating feet with pleasure:)

I have severe claw toes and Drew shoes are wonderful for me. The ability to change the box depth is so convenient. These shoes are good looking and comfortable. My only suggestion is that I think a totally black shoe should be offered.

I like the shoe but even though I ordered it in narrow, the heel slipped. There was plenty of room for my orthotics and one of the inserts, but even with shoelaces tied tight, it slipped, so am returning it.

My feet are known as pes cavas, meaning very high arches with a longer arch. My left foot is prone to a lot of arch pain, ankle sprains, and so there are times when I can hardly put weight on that foot. My right foot gives me no problem. My orthotics help a great deal, but I still have trouble finding a shoe that will be supportive and one that I can wear for long periods of time. I bought these shoes from Drew because they actually sell shoes for the pes cavas foot. About 5 months ago I had gotten a new pair of orthotics which were a bit different from the ones that had been prescribed. I just could not adjust to them in the shoes I usually wear. I was in so much pain I could hardly walk so I decided to try a different shoe. I saw the Excel and read the reviews and decided to try them. They fit me perfectly, no breaking in time, and withing a couple of hours I could walk with minimal pain. Now after two weeks, I have no pain and have adjusted to the new orthotics. The ankle support is very good for my foot. The shoe also provides more cushioning than I had expected from a Drew shoe. I took out both of the Drew inserts and put in my orthotics and my feet have plenty of room. I am now pain free and can walk normally again. I was so happy with these shoes that I actually just bought a second pair.

Super comfortable with a nice wide toe box. Removable footbed for custom orthotics but the insert provided is more than adequate for a healthy foot.

I love these shoes. Very comfortable and wide enough for my foot. The Drew extra depth feature is indispensable. Wish they came in all black but I do like the optical illusion heel.

I love these shoes. I first bought a pair in one color, then a pair in the other color. Then when those wore out, I bought two more pairs in the two colors. I wear them basically any time that I'm not at work--they're supportive and comfortable and didn't aggravate the foot pain I suffered from when I first bought these. Maybe they're not the most stylish athletic shoes, but they're not offensive. They've grown on me.

I bought the green multi fabric style. I think this might be the most comfortable walking shoe I've ever worn. My feet are extra wide, but short, with very high arches and instep, so it's difficult for me to find shoes that fit. These fit perfectly. They're almost bouncy to walk in. I use orthotics for walking but I used the orthotic that came with the shoe instead of using my own, and it worked great. The style is adorable, too! I will definitely be getting more pairs in various colors.

I am writing this review to indicate that I found the heel quite loose in my usual size, which is a 9.5WW. I have been wearing these for a year (have all three colors) in that size with my custom orthotics and the thin sole underneath. I also have found them hot with the socks I need to fill in the extra space in the heel as the nation copes with the highest temperatures ever. I ordered them one size down (9WW) to try to see if the heel is smaller. With my orthotics the heel is the same issue, but I am keeping the smaller size to wear without socks with the insoles they come with, since it says there is a Dri-lex wicking system and they feel comfortable and I don't have to figure out what socks won't show. They are expensive but I think having this other option will be great this summer as the temperatures soar over 100. Just wanted to write this in case anyone else has the same issue. I hope Zappo's will continue to carry this shoe, and that Drew will continue to make it. I also wear these with midiskirts and have been told by millenial fashionistas that it looks very contemporary.

This shoe is very sturdy and great for someone who uses an appliance or brace. Large toe box for deep orthotics or pads. Runs a bit large.

I LOVE this shoe. I had my ankle fused and a 9 inch rod added to my leg 1 year ago. The Drew Excel has been the perfect shoe for me. I can add or remove the footbed depending on the swelling in my ankle. Super comfortable. I have 2 pair and am getting a 3rd. Great fit, nice double wide actually is wide enough!!!! I would highly recommend the Drew Excel. Would have given style a 5 but I would like a back sole available on the black shoe.

I'm a perfect 7.5M. But these were too big, particularly the toe area. They also made my feet look big.

so I ordered these for my 73 year old Mom who is having issues with swollen feet so we ordered the 7.5 triple wide one nice thing especaillay with swelling is the laces don't come up to high so getting her feet in was easier than most we tried on. According to my Mom they are easy to get on and feel in her words "pretty nice" I have witnessed her wearing them so she must really like them they do have a bit of stretch in the front of the shoe.

I wanted to love this shoe because my feet are so wide and these were amazingly wide enough in WW and comfortable EXCEPT for the fact that the back of the shoe is cut too low. It can't be used with custom orthotics as it makes the problem worse with the slipping off the heel with every step. Drew, please make this show with a higher back!! What is need is a back and rim that is even all the way around like your Drew Krista show. I had to return the Excel.

TREMENDOUS arch support...and I'm a big girl. Love this shoe, overall. My only complaint is that the inside sole has some slip to it... which makes it very easy to put on, but my feet easily slide forward and back when walking - most noticeable on inclines. The mesh outer makes it very cool no matter the weather and the soles don't collapse over time.

The width is great, but because I have plantar fasciitis, I found the insole of this shoe too hard to be comfortable.

Good solid extra depth shoe. Nice royal blue color. It is a firm shoe, which makes it very stable. My 3/4 inch thick cushion orthotics fit in a wide width well.

I love the shoes, they are a little wider than stated but if I wear thicker socks it’s perfect. Love the look.

I needed a shoe to wear with summer skorts - something sporty but very comfortable for walking at family camp (up and down hills, up to 4 miles a day from lodgings to meeting rooms). These did the trick. I usually wear a WW width in Drew shoes but these have a lot of stretch so I may have gotten away with a thinner width. I'm also at least 1" taller in these shoes! There is so much comfort and cushion that I seem to bounce a bit with my gait in these shoes. People with back problems just need to be aware of this. The only thing I didn't like is that Zappos charged me tax because I had these delivered to a Washington address even though I am an Oregon resident (no tax).

I have multiple issues with my feet, and Drew has become a favorite brand. These Excel shoes, however, do not offer as much support due to the soft and flexible nature of the fabric. They would be excellent for those with hammertoes, but since I tend to overpronate, this style will not work for me. Thanks, Zappos, for your excellent service!
