After reading some of the newer reviews, I thought I should write in bc my experience with these boots has been very positive. I, too, was looking at the SW 5050 for awhile but I found I like these better for three reasons. (1 - and most important) These boots are waterproof! I am a busy woman and find myself frequently outside during the wintertime months. It is so nice to know that these attractive, comfortable boots are not going to be ruined by simply walking outside in the elements. The SW ones are not waterproof. (2) These boots have a slightly tapered toe, which I find to be more attractive than the round toe that is on the SW ones. (3) These are around $400 less than the SW ones. I love fine shoes and have some cute SW booties that I got this year. However, for what I needed (workhorse boots that will hold up during whatever weather) these fit the bill. I would have gladly purchased more expensive boots if they were going to hold up but they weren't going to do so. As for fit, I have fairly skinny calves. These fit well and are easy for me to get on and off. Overall, I would highly recommend these boots (and I have recommended them to friends).

These boots are amazing! As a size 12, it's always a bit of a gamble buying boots online, but this brand consistently delivers. Super comfortable, and well fitting on top - snug enough to stay up, but not too snug on my athletic calves. There's a good amount of space in the toebox so you can wear thick socks comfortably when it's really cold out. I'm over 6' tall, so the boots don't quite come up over my knee but they still look great and keep my legs warm in this frigid NYC winter! Cute, comfortable, and weatherproof - exactly what I was looking for!

Fantastic boot at a great price! I have several pairs of Stuart Weitzman and other high end boots. At times, particularly when out and about during bad weather, I prefer to wear a nice boot that I worry less about my investment. After purchasing and returning several failures I found these. They are great quality, well made, comfortable and just beautiful low heeled boots. I am 5'11" and they rise just to the top of my knee. My calves are 12.5" in circumference and though a bit bigger than SW boots I have no problem with them slouching or riding down. Suede is good quality, not thin nor cheap looking. Again these are really nice and look great with leggings, skinny jeans, and skirts. I cannot speak to their water resistance yet but , they look as if they will pass that test. They fit true to size and I disagree with previous review which suggests the top area is tight. My legs are average size to slightly slim and I find these a perfect fit ! You can't go wrong with this boot. I am delighted with this purchase. P.S. The sole of this boot is attractive yet has a great grip.

These are great boots- the waterproof factor here in New England is big, with me, especially if the boot is this stylish. I'm 5' 6", and the front comes up just past the knee, and the calf fit is snug but comfy. The only problem I have with the boots is they are snug in the ankle, and a tad difficult to get on and off as my foot gets stuck in the ankle part! But I suppose a zipper there would make them non-waterproof. So, a cheap boot pull works great and the boots are to love.

I have been searching endlessly for the perfect over the knee boot. These being waterproof was a huge reason for my purchase. Unfortunately, they were very loose and bulky at the ankle but tight around the knee. I am 5 foot, 93 pounds so the loose ankle made sense but the tight knee was a surprise. The material was also somewhat papery and not very high quality/chic. Had to return them sadly, but for someone with a wider calf and ankle, these may be a good fit. The search continues...

These are a great fit and actually a little roomy in the toe box. I loved the suede and they are a really cute boot. However the neoprene back was too shiny for my liking and I feel it gave the boot a somewhat cheap look. They stay up and I would have been thrilled with them being waterproof. Because of the shiny neoprene I decided on a different boot and these will go back. If that fabric was different I would have loved them.

Very comfortable boots! But, I was hoping for a 50-50 SW dupe. These looked great when I first pulled them on but after a couple of hours, were saggy around the ankles and not at all the sleek fashionable look I was going for. Thank you, Zappos, for your commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction and allowing a return. To help others, I would rate my legs as average (not extremely thin but not muscular either). I have never had an issue with boots being too tight (or loose) on my calves. So, if you have muscular or larger calves, these may be great for you!

Agree with the other reviewer that they look just like SW, except are waterproof. Sure, they don't feel quite as luxurious (the back fabric is a bit stiff), but who's feeling the back of your boots? Basically, it's the same look as SW, but much more practical and affordable. I own several SW shoes--I worked at a luxury retailer--so I was concerned about the compromise until I got mine--they're great. Super comfortable and chic and perfect for everyday life. I made the right choice this time around.

Very good boot, well-priced, and waterproof!A huge reason for over-the-knee is for the freezing cold days in the city when any exposed part of your leg gets cold even in fleece tights. And some of those days involve rain and/or snow. I wear dresses and skirts almost exclusively and these are very practical boots for this purpose. From a style perspective, I liked the Stuart Weitzman Reserve even better (more form fitting at ankle and slightly higher heel) but hard to justify when SW is not waterproof and over 3x the price.

To say i was skeptical is an understatement. I have 18 inch extremely athletic calves. I have found 3 total pairs of boots in my life that fit me well. It was a struggle to get them in and even harder to get them off but THEY FIT. I am so eternally grateful. No longer do i have to glare with envy at the women i see walking around in their beautiful knee high boots. I felt like a QUEEN wearing these. That being said, they do bunch at the ankle but they're suede and stretchy fabric, not stiff leather. Also i did not experience any slipping down which makes sense because as i said before, my calves are huge. Definitely worth the price.

I live in NYC, where waking is unavoidable. These shoes feel like sneakers but a very sharp looking. I had purchased another pair of over the knee boots from Aldo, and returned them for these. Being waterproof is an added benefit. I am 5’9” and the top of the boot hits me mid-knee. They are a tight squeeze getting your heel in, but it’s not impossible to grab the bottom of the boot and wiggle your foot in.

After searching for and ordering more expensive boots, I finally settled on these for top looks and comfort. They're completely waterproof, having weathered two days of driving rain and a number of puddles. The only issue I have is that the soles become slippery on certain surfaces, notably metal surfaces, so I must be extra careful, which isn't easy on rainy days.

I previously purchased the Sole/Society Calypso boot which is similar to this Velma Blondo boot with a few differences that unfortunately did not work as well for me. The Sole/Society boot is an inch or inch and a half shorter in the shaft. The S/S is still a boot that covers most of the knee but does not hit me in the bend of the knee in the back. The Blondo boot is a beautiful boot, well made, waterproof and the style I was looking for. However the back of the boot was not comfortable and the material in the back was a little too shiny. For reference I am 5'5" and wear a size 10 dress. My ankles are thin and my leg perhaps a little slimmer than most since some boots are too wide in the shaft. The width of the shaft is OK., the ankle is a little baggy. I tried this in a size 9 as well. It also fit me. My sandal size is 8.5 or 9, shoe size 9 and boot size usually 9.5. So judging from this I would say the boot runs a little big. Plenty of room across the ball of the foot and this is an area that is tight for me at times. Zappo's was wonderful with the shipping and the return was super easy. The S/S Calypso does not come in black. I ordered the taupe color and loved the boot.

I am in absolute love with these boots. They look amazing and they are extremely comfortable from the moment you slip them on your feet- no breaking in period needed. The very first day I took them for a spin, it was a chilly and extremely rainy day in Florida. I went ahead and stomped through every puddle I saw and my feet remained dry, warm, and comfortable. They look fantastic with a pair of leggings and jeggings. This is actually my second pair of Blonde boots and I highly, HIGHLY recommend this brand in general. I wore a half size smaller than my usual size in these boots.

These boots are great! I’m 5’1 and normally wear a 6 but had to return for a 5.5 because the ankles were lose and the shoe size a little large. But they are great and look expensive!

The idea of these boots is great, but the sizing didn't work for me. I'm overall a small person and have proportionally small calves. The ankle and calf areas were a bit baggy on me as is often the case, but the thigh area is so tight it felt like a tiny noose on each leg. If you have large calves but tiny thighs, these would be a good fit. I have one other pair of Blondo boots, also OTK (Snow style) and I love them. They are weatherproofed very well. So if these fit you, they would be a great addition to your winter wardrobe.

This is my 2nd pair of Velmas. The boots are very comfortable- I've walked miles in them, they look beautiful and through 3 years, my first pair was waterproof. Love them.

Love the fit of this boot! My only complaint is that I'm pretty tall (5-10), and the top of the boot hits halfway up my knee. Not a huge deal, but I wish they went all the way over the knee.

This is a beautiful boot! It is slim fitting and elegant. I do a lot of walking and appreciate having a leather boot that's attractive and appropriate for work that I can wear in the rain and snow without worrying about damage.

In most shoes I'm a 9, but in these I'm an 8.5. They definitely seem to fit more like a Stuart Weitzman 5050. In regards to the BLONDO brand, I'm a dedicated fan. I had their "Eden" boot for 3 years, and wore them daily through 3 NYC fall/winters, Snow, Rain, Sun. After 3 years of everyday use and abuse, the internal lining ripped, and I had to get a new pair. Thrilled beyond belief to have a new pair though! They are so warm, stylish, and have good traction. I just need to put a comfort insole in, but that's just my preference on a little extra "squish". I highly recommend these though!!!
