I am a new customer to Northface as I have never made a purchase in the past. I needed to get a jacket for my son who is attending college in northwest Pa, a typical cold wet climate. I researched online different brands and styles of jackets that would be warm, dry and stylish, to a college student. When I came upon Northface I was impressed with the 3 in 1 component and the style of the inner shell which can be worn separately when it's cold and the whole jacket together for sub zero weather he will encounter. When the jacket arrived my 18 year old loved it. Stylish, warm and versatile. Northface is by far not the least expensive choice for a warm, cold and wet weather jacket, but it is definitely the best value for your dollar. And I am a value shopper, I know that the money was well spen. I'm going to get one for myself next.

Love this jacket! So versatile and stylish yet keeps you warm and dry. Sleeves are long but not so long they are an issue

This is a great combination jacket! I've worn the full tri-climate only a couple time (as spring has come) but the liner alone is a great spring jacket. Waterproof, windproof and warm!

I use this for everyday wear in Michigan. It fits nice and protects in any weather (cool, cold, rain, snow). The only issue I have with it is I wish there was a chest pocket on the inner shell.

I am 6'3" and about 220 pounds with long arms. I ordered an XL, but was concerned that the sleeve and body length would be too short. I was beyond pleased with the fit of this coat. XL was perfect. The end of the sleeves fall past my wrist, but not to my knuckles, exactly the kind of fit I want out of a winter coat. XXL would have been unnecessary and undoubtedly too big around the body and chest. Also, very stylish coat. Look forward to wearing it next winter. . .

This is a great jacket because it is so flexible. The outer layer provides a lot of warmth for colder conditions, perfect for skiing or other outdoor winter activity, but taking it off leaves a functional jacket that is good for a wide range of weather. It feels solid and durable and is completely waterproof.

I choose this jacket to wear it for all seasons. It is waterproff and windproof. I like the idea of how i can remove the inside layer and wear it in the summer time. I have never ic of black. If you want other color beside black, i will pick grey or navy blue. Overal, you should invest this jacket for any purposes.

I've owned the 2007 version of this jacket and thought it was time for a new one. The only mistake I made was first buying the one with the military green liner. When it arrived the liner had a lot of yellow in it and was bright. Definitely not like the picture. I then purchased the all black version and was more than satisfied.

I purchased this jacket after trying two other models, the Apex Storm and the Thermoball triclimate jackets. This jacket is perfect for what I need, and it is exactly what I was looking for. In Alabama we don't get too much of what I would call "extreme cold weather" like is experienced in Detroit, MI in January, or say St. Paul, MN. We do get some cold snaps here and there, but on the whole one can make do with this jacket and a few layers. What I wanted was a casual looking jacket that does not scream COP/MILITARY, that repels rain well, and will keep you warm on those cold days. This jacket is perfectly suited for that! It is lightweight, quiet as compared to the 3/1 parka I was issued in the military, breathable, yet completely waterproof, and the hood is very convenient having the ability to adjust in front and the back, which helps to keep the visor out of your eyes when you want to sit in the rain and watch the game, as it were. I love everything about this jacket, except the design of the pockets. First, it needs internal pockets. There is no excuse for a jacket this expensive and well made not to have internal pockets. One on each side of both jackets, the liner and the shell. I find this to be the biggest disappointment of the jacket, so please take note, TNF. Also, the layout of the exterior pockets could be smarter. The horizontal entry pocket on the right breast is totally inconvenient. Why not make it vertical to match the pocket on the left? That is a bit askance at best, guys. Lastly, you could put hand-warmer pockets just above the lower side pockets. I would also like to see the pocket zippers be a little more robust, but these are adequate. Outside the annotated con I think this jacket is an outstanding offering for my geographical location. It's 3/1 multi-functional capability makes it a good do it all jacket that one could make their everyday/general purpose go to jacket, which is exactly what it is for me.

I bought this on sale for basically half off. Great price and value for a long lasting durable jacket. I love that the fleece can be worn separately from the jacket, as well as be zipped to the inside of the jacket making it one piece of clothing. First time jacket from The North Face, previouly i bought a backpack from them...11 years ago and still use it today! As an ode to quality, the backpack took me through undergrad, traveling and grad school...I'm telling you this because this is one of the reasons why I bought the jacket; for longevity and durability. I bought a large since I am a little over 6'0 tall and weight 185lbs. My suit measurement are usually 42'

Daily I commute via bus 37 miles south to SF for work. I also walk few miles to get to my bus stop. Temperatures and weather differ between the pickup and drop off locations. Weather it's rainy and cold or sunny and cool, this jacket and liner works perfectly for me.

Jacket lives up to The North Face name as expected. I have 2 other light jackets from The North Face and needed a more heavy duty jacket. This one fit the bill! I was surprised on the thinness and how lightweight it was but still does the job to a tee!

Have not tested in weather below 30. May need some under garments for extreme cold but still a great jacket
