THge shoes is for my 24yr old special need son. It felt true to size and width it is light and easy to put on and off. We had the grey color size 5w. My son size is 3.5 youth but he wears cosum made inserts which works fine with size 5. We are loyal to New balance since he was 12yrs old. The quality of the wide shoes since then is deteriarating. With this pair I have to push the velcro fastiner toword his heals to fit his arch correctly.It leave Half of the velcro not attached. I had to put it on him going out because I could not check it on him at home ( autistic behavior). so It was used and it is not right to return it. I usually by him two or three of different colors if it fit right but I'm not sure about this one.

My 6 year old son has a high instep so it is difficult for me to find a shoe that fits him well; a lot of the brands are too narrow and are cut too tight for the top area of his foot to fit comfortably. This shoe and the Saucony Jazz work really well for him, but the Jazz with the velcro ends at size 12. Luckily this New Balance style with the velcro is available in larger sizes. It is comfortable, light, and easy for my son to manage. The darker color tends to hide the dirt too - which is a plus. My son's foot is slightly on the wider side, and this M width fits him well; other brands the M width is too narrow. I also ordered this shoe in the next size up to save for him. Overall I think it wears well, although with this age, shoes don't last all that long anyway, especially since my son wears these every day. I know price-wise this shoe is not cheap, but I have a hard time finding shoes for my son so it is worth it. And ordering from Zappos is the best because you can return or exchange the item if it doesn't fit or you don't like it, so it makes everything so easy!

Bought these for my 8 year old in January 2017. It is now March 2017 and the right shoe is in tatters. The front is completely torn. Just heads up if you kid is hard on shoes, this might not be the right one to buy. He does like them and wants another pair - I'm just not sure I want to be buying $50 shoes every 2 months.

I bought these for my 6 year old daughter. She says they are very comfortable. I love that she can put them on by herself.

My 5 year old loves the shoes, they are very comfortable and perfect for PE. They are easy to put on.

My 18 year old son has Down Syndrome and small but wide feet. These are perfect for him he normally wears a 3.5 XW but these do not come is XW. I went up to a 4W they are perfect. His previous pair which are New Balance but a different style lasted him over a year and half. He is a very active young man.

I normally love 574s, but this velcro style didn't work for me. I am a woman with small feet who wears children's sizes. I wanted a pair of navy NBs, and I decided to try these. I own a lot of the other lace-ups, and they fit well. I felt that the velcro top was actually too short for the wide shoe. In addition, I just didn't like the look of it, because it made the lettering on the tongue stand out a lot. I think it would work out for a kid, not an adult trying to wear kid's shoes.

This is our third pair of New Balance. My 8 year old has a very narrow foot so finding proper fitting shoes is quite difficult. With the adjustable velcro we can place it a bit beyond the match-up patch thus creating a narrower fit. New Balance has been suggested by our orthopedic doctor for the arch support (better than many other brands). The shoes are durable and resist all the running and scuffing that an 8 year old can enjoy. We will for sure continue to buy these as he goes up in size.

Bought these for my 7 yo since there are very few models available with velcro closure in "big kid" sizes. The shoes look attractive and smooth and feel comfortable, according to the kid. The logo is light reflective, which is a nice touch. Sadly, the closure is rather difficult to unfasten. One has to pull really hard and it's not an easy task to hold tight to the scratchy surface. Rather disappointing since the whole "easy on/off" was our major selling point for this model.

These shoes are trendy, made of nice quality materials, and the hook and loop closure makes fastening shoes easy for preschoolers. The only issue I had with the shoe is that it runs a bit narrow. My son has wide feet and although I ordered wide, these didn't seem to be a true wide so I had to return them.
