Vibram says these shoes are for “everywhere you go and everything you do,” which is false advertising. The first time I went hiking in these (on a very easy, clear path, mind you) every tiny thorn and thistle snagged the shoe — not to mention how the shoe did not handle going down any kind of hill.
That said, the Furoshiki is truly an amazing shoe, and one that I would personally highly recommend — for many things but not all things.
I have always avoided Vibram anything because, well, they make the toe shoes and because I have some self respect. But I have been wearing minimalist shoes for several years now, because they have provided benefit to my body — most especially my problematic back and knees.
I first saw the Furoshiki’s, surprisingly, on the streets of NYC. I actually thought they looked stylish, too. Imagine my surprise that these were produced by the same company that makes toe shoes.
I have to say: this is an extremely well-designed shoe for a lot of uses. It really is truly minimalist and, unlike a lot of minimalist shoes, the Furoshiki feels more like a sock that a shoe. While some complain about the heel cup, I love it — because it feels secure. In most minimalist shoes, my foot still slips and slides around, which isn’t ideal. This is the first shoe, of any kind, that I feel does not alter my gait in *any* way at all — which I thought impossible!
Some say this shoe is “hot” — meaning it doesn’t breathe. I don’t find that to be true at all. I am wearing them in the upper 90’s on hot pavement and my feet aren’t suffocating; they aren’t even sweating in them. This shoe feels extremely breathable, but I realize that all feet are different.
The sole is said to be “dynamic” and adaptive — both of which I find to be true (if you get a shoe in your size range). Problematically, though, Vibram has a different size chart on its website than what is printed on the box (and Zappos has a size chart that differs from BOTH!) — so beware! I think the size chart on the box is probably most correct — which means you’ll need to go up a size from what the online advice says. For example: I wear a US size an 11 (in every shoe made) and my toes are at the VERY END of the XL (which “should” accommodate a size US 12/12.5…but it does not). But once you get the correct fit, the Furoshiki is hard to beat.
These shoes are machine washable and perfect for most daily activity (though they take longer than you’d think to air dry). They are not durable enough for strenuous exercise or really any kind of exercise which requires hills or quick movement. The elastic nature of these shoes has too much give. But for everything else, you’d be hard pressed to find a more comfortable shoe. And I am surprised I am going to say this about something Vibram makes, but: the Furoshiki’s are actually quite stylish, and have become my go-to every day shoe.

Innovative styling for sure! I love these Vibrams. They're like slippers, but they're fashionable so I wear them to and from the gym, on the plane, while shopping, etc. No issues with fit or width. There's no arch support but if you're looking for a minimal slip on shoe, to me there's no need for arch support. After all, arch support in shoes over the last 30 years is what has caused so many foot imbalances and weakness in people's arches. Walk like you're meant to walk! Love 'em and get so many compliments.

These are so comfortable. I'm not a runner, I'm dealing with a bunch of foot and back problems. I've tried a lot of shoes. These are the first ones that are flat, don't squeeze my feet and are comfortable. I bought a size bigger because of my one swollen foot but I'm able to secure these in place without sliding around on both feet.
The sole is a little narrower than the front of my foot but it doesn't bother me. I don't have the feeling of my foot hanging over the shoe that I've had with other stretch shoes.
If the price ever comes down on the other colors I'll get another pair.

I love the Vibram FiveFinger tech, but I won't wear the toe shoe things because I have some, you know, dignity. Other VFF shoes were a little too constricting for pure comfort, but these are perfect for around the house, exercise, and errands in good weather. They creep my husband out though - he says they look like a sea creature.

I have messed up feet and I'm a runner. Custom orthotics, tender care. BUT THESE SHOES ARE GREAT!!!!!!!!
And no photographs have captured how fantastic they actually look. They are cute and not ugly. Just so you know.

My husband wears these for pilates. He likes that they support his foot while he is doing foot work, and they grip just as well as his toesox.

The Furoshiki feel great on my feet, and unlike the Five Finger KSOs, my feet don't get extremely cold in these. I can wear these without socks and my feet stay warm. These are now going to be my "Five Finger Lite" option for the winter months, and my Five Fingers will be my warm season shoes.
In terms of style, some may be put off by what appears to be a rugged ballet slipper.
I feel the sole is a little narrow, and I do not have wide feet by any stretch of the imagination.
Putting these on is bang on simple. I would imagine after a while the Velcro style fasteners will get gunked up, but after a month of wearing them I don't have that problem yet.
I like to wear these around the house, similar to how I used to do with slippers. The comfort is great, my feet are warm, and as long as I haven't worn them outside, I have no problem hiding my feet under the blanket with these on.

I have extremely painful feet and these shoes truly help me get around more because they, unlike most shoes, do not add to my baseline pain level.
I love this purchase!

I love these shoes very confortable. I get so many compliments on them and have gotten family and friends on them. I have about 6 or 7 pair, when I say I wear them to work, to run errands, when I don't want to put on my heels or get tired of wearing my heels at nice events. I dress them up, I dress them down I just wear them all around. Now I need to get some of these olive colors ;-)

Excellent type of shoe to carry if you need an extra pair to keep in the car or your bag. It is a "barefoot" style so there is minimal cushioning and no arch support. The are very comfortable though.

They fit like a glove. I don't like my feet hot and these are warm so being like a glove not a good thing in the summer.
I needed something that felt like I was bare foot for stability issues. They are great for slipping off your shoes at work and putting these on for comfort.

This slipper is so unique. It is comfortable (but with no arch support at all). It would be perfect for travel--through airplane security, on planes and in hotel rooms. However, they really need to fit perfectly. I have high arches, and the toe elastic makes my toes numb. A design improvement would be a shoelace or slider mechanism rather than non-adjustable elastic over the metatarsal bones. Have to return, and wish it wasn't so.

I have wide feet, high arch, high instep.
My post-partum feet were having trouble fitting into any shoes comfortably. It's also winter so I want at least the option of wearing thick socks.
The Velcro allows me to stretch and get the shoe to fit up in the center of my foot while still allowing for a toe box that's as wide as needed.
It's like a shoe-girdle for the foot only stretchy and not stiff.
Sock choice ultimately determines how warm or cool these are.
They are barefoot style shoes so that means there is no cushion and no support - just a flexible sole that stretches up over the foot.
The shoes arrive folded in a cute drawstring pouch in a small box. I immediately ordered a second pair.

I have two pair. I get so many questions and compliments I have to wear earphones when I wear them to block out the noise. Lol. Extremely comfortable and great shoe for a pedicure. :-)

I love these shoes, and am excited about them. But the size chart on the Zappo page is different than the size chart on the Vibram (brand) page. I got a medium based on the Zappo size chart and the shoes are too big so my feet slide around in the sole and if I make the wrap tight enough then the ends go past the place where the velcro to attach them is. If I had looked at the Vibram size chart I would have got a small. I wear woman size 8 to 8.5, (also european size 39).

Very comfortable. It fit my AAA narrow feet but size seven was a small and size eight was too big.

Surprisingly comfortable the first time I wore them. Like wearing slippers, but MUCH more stylish! I would like a bit more arch support, since I have a very high arch, but wearing them was just fine, and I didn't notice the lack of support in the arch. Simply put, they are fabulous!

Highly stylish, extremely light yet comfortable foot cover. Yes, I am quicker to call it a foot cover than a shoe, mainly because it literally wraps around your foot. In fact, it would be closer to a slipper with a heel and sole and wings you can wrap around it. I'm a EU43 sized foot so the L fits proportionately. No excessive movement of the foot inside this pseudo-shoe, but it will never be as snug on your foot as a tie/elastic draw string shoe will be. Rubber base has plenty grip when not wet. Although I really like this product, I would not recommend for the price alone. Unless you absolutely have to have them, wait until the price drops.
