This is a perfect backpack to get your from 3rd grade to middle school. It is sturdy, but can hold the additional amount of homework the kids are getting at this age. Worth the moeny--and great for travel too!

I bought 2 of these for each kid and both were used all 6 years of elementary school and are still in great condition! Perfect size for elementary school kids too.

Good quality backpack. I was worried about the size for my 6 year old boy but it fit perfectly.

Great kids backpack. Perfect for my small kindergartener but big enough to fit lunch box and folders.

We bought this backpack for our newly-minted kindergartner. A few weeks into school and it's great. It's a nice, lightweight, and yet durable material. There are plenty of pockets and organizational possibilities, and I for one love the sternum strap. It's a little on the large size for our 5-year-old, but not comically so -- and that makes us happy. It fits now, but will undoubtedly allow him to use it for several more years. Way to look out for the groms, Marmot!

Great backpack but the picture looks like dark brown but it is purple! Not going to work for a boy.

Perfect for my kindergarten going 5 year old.He loved it! Sturdy and built to last. He is rough on things, so I couldn't get a typical cheaply made bag. This one fit the bill! I love that i can just shove his lightweight Texas jacket int he bungee feature on the outside.

Great backpack for my five year old. The only thing missing is a place to attach a set of keys.

Overall this is a great bag. I bought a similar one, also Marmot, last year and thought this one was identical, only new colors. However, we're disappointed by the redesigned side mesh pockets for water bottles. My kids use taller bottles, 18oz, hydroflasks. Last year's backpack has no problem with it because the mesh has a solid base, where the bottle bottom fits in securely and the whole bottle sits deeper in the mesh. The new design, however, covers less of the bottle and so it often falls out, which is a pain for my 6 YO. There is no solid base anymore. The mesh is sewn to the side of the bag. Hard to explain. In short, this one has to go back.

Seems like a decent enough pack. Material doesn't seem as sturdy as I would've imagined/zippers seems just slightly on the lesser quality end for the price, but it'll do fine for my preschooler.

Well made and great size, fits a 3-ring binder so works well for school and hiking but isn't too big for a small child. The part that goes against the child's back has a stiff insert and the fabric isn't padded, so the backpack is not very comfortable. The insert also causes the bag to fall when set down, making it hard for a child to pack. Organizational pockets are basic, no place to secure small things safely but they're adequate for staying organized. Water bottle side pouches are sturdy and it's nice to have them on both sides.

The comfort and style of the bag are great - my son used it all of last year for 3rd grade. However the tabs on both zippers broke off after a relatively short period of time and the bag stained easily (we got it in the blue/arctic navy). So overall I can't say I highly recommend and this year got him a good ole lands end...

My son used this for kindergarten, unfortunately the material at the bottom did not hold up and there are little holes started, I figured he could get a few years out of this bag as I trusted the brand and the price point, but here I am shopping for a new book bag for first grade. The bungee also came off. Discouraging that the material did not outlast one year of kindergarten with minimal wear and most of the time it was just his lunch bag in the bag.

Not impressed with the bag's material. It seemed thin, would not take much to rip. The size was perfect.
