I love the size and the pockets that this bag has. I use it in college and I can hold four 1 inch binders in the main pocket. My 15 inch MacBook Pro with sleeve and 12 inch iPad Pro with keyboard case together fit good in the laptop pocket. The bag is comfortable to wear. The only thing I dislike is that the black color gets faded fast. It turns brown looking and it's not fading from being in the sun, it's fading from body oils. The parts of the bag that you touch a lot are faded and not the whole bag evenly. It makes it look dirty and old. This bag is only three semesters old. I have several other Fjallraven products in other colors and they don't experience fading.

Love this bag. Holds three one inch binders, an iPad Pro and MacBook Pro and some folders comfortably. However, after just two semesters the black color gets a patina possibly from body oils and turns brown and faded.

I have had the 20L Raven for the last few years and I was in love with it. I got it in a yellow color which got pretty dirty after a while. I've been needing to upgrade to a bigger sized backpack so I wanted the 28L Raven. I purchased this in the color black to help hide dirt/stains. Well.. The black was worst than the yellow. Instead of taking almost three years to look filthy, the black color took only three days. Any bit of dirt, dust, or lint showed up. It was driving me crazy. It may just be the type of material that is prone to dirt. I finally decided to return it even though I love the layout and pockets. I was really sad about this whole situation because I had been dreaming about this backpack for the last 6 months before purchasing! The 28L size also seemed stiff and bulky on my body but I am also petite. Perhaps it would fit better on someone with a larger frame. The way the separate laptop compartment is designed made it very hard to put anything else (papers, folders, etc.) in that same compartment. The zipper on the laptop compartment also has tight corners making it a bit difficult to zip. Overall, if you don't need the 28L size, get the 20L Raven. If you need something bigger than 20L, find a different backpack.

Love this bag. It fits soooooo much stuff in it. Lots of well placed inner pockets. Big slot for laptop or or iPad. 2 spots for water bottles, and so much more. I got the color redwood and was worried it would be bright red. It's a nice deeper red. I had a lot of stuff jammed in there and I wouldn't say it was super comfy on my shoulders. I was happy to take it off. No waist buckle.

At first I bought the smaller 20L version but since I needed a bigger bag, I got this one. I like the material on the outside. It is not a slippery nylon but a nice matted black. I was able to fit a couple of big textbooks in there while being able to put a 32oz hydroflask in one side pocket with a retractable umbrella in the other side pocket. The felt pocket on top is convenient for sunglasses but since I don't carry sunglasses I put my keys and a snack in there. I found that the media pocket for your laptop is not very easy to get in and out of. I almost didn't realize there was a media pocket because the zipper is hidden under a flap of fabric. Because of that, I found that opening and closing that compartment was more difficult. The way it's lined up didn't make for smooth open and close. This bag is good quality and good for carrying books and school supplies but I still went with a larger bag in the end because I practically live out of my bag from being out so long with the commute and sticking around to study.

This backpack is awesome. It holds my 14" notebook, lunch and electronics comfortably. I think the thick straps make the difference. Also its very strong (just think about the weight load I mentioned) and has many useful pockets, both for the every day business person as well as for a day of backpacking. The zippers seem to be designed in a way where they are not constantly tugged on which means they should last. Waterproofing is average, though they say the wax improves it greatly.

Nice size (roomy but not massive) and lots of pockets - I can finally go to work with only one bag!

This book bag is for a rising 5th grader that needs to have a book bag with a laptop sleeve and it is perfect!. I specifically looked for a bag that had a separate laptop compartment since my daughter still brings her lunch a few days a week and the idea of a packed lunch sitting next to an expensive laptop did not appeal to me and I like the idea that she did not need to dig through her books, lunch and what not to get her laptop. I bought this and the north face recon as they both are the same size and similar features, but this one does not look ridiculous on an average 5th grader like the north face did. Weight: They are close on paper, but the raven felt lighter in hand but they felt the same on the back. Size & shape: similar, but the raven looks substantially smaller Organization: They both have a lot of pockets and organization, but again the raven has more/ larger mess zippered pockets you can see what is in there Comfort: the raven is much more comfortable on the shoulders, but it lack the chest and waist straps, but we didn't need them to start with Style: Raven is more understated and the recon has more of an outdoors look Cons: the water bottle pockets are not elastic so they will stick out when they are empty. They are much wider than the kanken, raven 20L, and high coast bag I have. We are very happy with the purchase!

The Raven 28L backpack is just what I was looking for! It is the perfect work backpack for someone who needs to carry a laptop, lunch items (without spilling), a few papers, mug, water bottle, etc. This is the only stylish bag with great pocket features I found that would fit a Lenovo thinkpad 15" computer (15" long by 10.2" wide). I can bring this bag to professional meetings and use it for daily commuting without looking like I'm wearing a kids bag or a hiking bag. The straps are really comfortable, only reason for 4 stars in comfort is you can feel the stiff laptop slightly thru the back padding, but there is padding and it isn't uncomfortable really, you can just tell it is there. I also think this will be a great travel backpack to use as a personal item or carry on on flights. I haven't had it very long so I can't speak to durability, but it seems really sturdy and I would highly recommend this bag.

I love this bag! I wanted a bag that wasn't too big but, I needed it too fit 15" laptop. It fits perfectly. I am a huge fan of the construction too. You can tell it is quality.

We use this backpack as a diaper bag. The padded straps are quite comfortable, and the bag itself is a comfortable size to carry throughout the day. The backpack had several compartments for smaller items, and a handy compartment on top for sunglasses. The media compartment works perfectly for storing a changing pad. The only con I've discovered so far is the black fabric seems to collect dust girly easily.

Substantially larger than the 20L (zippers on that one wore out after 14 months of daily use). I prefer the size of the 20L.

This backpack is an excellent organizer for all kinds of goodies. I wear for work, I just wore with suit jacket for a meeting. The shoulder straps are roomy to allow easy mobility to put on and off. All workmanship is top notch, and material seems extremely durable. Biggest brag about this pack is the style and amazing zip pockets for organization. My only complaint is the large zipper opening gets caught on trim (cover) of zipper. I'm still getting acclimated with the pockets and zippers, but I may need to pull the overlap over the zipper away before opening and closing. Other than that, I am 100% satified with my purchase.

Straps and back hurt almost immediately when wearing. No padding at the back and the straps have hard angles and the padding is stiff and hard.
