> I fell in love with the Dansko Darlene the minute I set eyes on it. Seeing only 2 reviews sent in prior to mine, I was surprised that there were so few comments for this gorgeous shoe. Like the other reviewers, I had a significant sizing issue, i.e., I had to take the Darlene a full size smaller than my usual 38. I had purchased the open back Dansko Martina in a 38 and it was much too long in the back; the 37s fit fine in the front, but were just a bit short in the back. I was so disappointed that I had to return the Martina since I had planned to get it in other colors as well. > I thought that a 37 (again, a full size smaller than my true size 38) in the closed back Darlene would fit fine but would not accommodate thick socks. That didn’t matter to me since I didn’t think the Darlene would look good with thick socks. When the shoes arrived, I was thrilled that they fit perfectly; even on my larger right foot, the 37s fit well. I was correct though: They could not accommodate socks, either thick or thin. > I knew that my daughter would love these Danskos too, so when we visited her and her family in Rochester, NY, as soon as the grandkids quieted down, I said, “Let’s look at shoes on Zappos' website.” She replied, “Great, I wanted to show you the new Danskos style that I fell in love with and am planning to buy.” Of course she went straight to the Darlene — and in black with brown straps and brown stitching, the exact ones I bought. She then told me that these were the kind of shoes I used to wear when she was a little girl and that she always used to say, “When I grow up, I’m going to wear shoes just like that.” I could actually visualize her as a little girl, sitting at the kitchen table and looking at me standing at the sink, doing whatever it was I was doing at the moment. I didn’t realize what thoughts were in her mind at the time. Although she always told me so much about what she was thinking, she didn’t mention her love of the shoes with the block high heels. All these years later, I found out how much she loved them — and still does — and I’m thrilled that I did. > I told her that the Dansko Darlene would be my birthday present to her. Even though her birthday is not until October, I was afraid that once women really begin looking at these shoes and reading the reviews, her size might no longer be available by October. Better to buy them now. She was reluctant to get the 36; however, I told her that if her true size, the 37, fit me in this Dansko style, they would be much too big on her. I ordered the 36 and they were actually roomier on her than the 37 was on me. Unlike me, she can wear socks with the smaller size. > I don’t know why Dansko has changed their sizing this year; however, the change has made it impossible for me to purchase any of their open back shoes. I have open back Danskos from previous years in my usual size 38 and they fit fine. In addition, I didn’t have to take closed back Danskos a full size smaller in previous years, as I had to do with the closed back Darlene this year. Based on reviews by other women of several 2016 Dansko styles, the sizing problem is not unique to this particular shoe. > Aside from the sizing problem, the Darlene is simply fabulous. The leather is soft and the wide toe area makes for a very comfortable fit. The substantial block heel results in a shoe that has excellent stability so the wearer feels quite secure while walking in the Darlene, even though she is wearing a 3” heel. Actually if you subtract the 1/2” platform from the 3” heel, it’s only 2 1/2” high. The contrasting brown strap and brown stitching against the black leather upper enhance the beauty of this Dansko style. > I am the third reviewer of the Dansko Darlene, and like the first two, I am giving it 5 stars in all areas. Love these! I normally wear a 6.5. I initially ordered the 6.5-7 size but it felt like it was falling off my foot. Exchanged for the 5.5-6 and its much better. Love the fast exchange process since I was really looking forward to wearing these cute shoes.

Just loved this shoe on so many levels...style, comfort and on trend. For those that loved Dansko Thea, you will love this shoe. I am true 7 1/2 and usual 38 in Dansko, but the 37 worked better for me in this style. The Chocolate color is rich and can be dressed up or dressed down...I plan on purchasing the Black color in the next coming weeks. This shoe recieves 5 stars, I highly recommend the Darlene.

This is a great work shoe! It adds more style than the traditional Dansko clog but has the same comfort and all-day wear. I have a B/C width foot and these shoes provide plenty of room for my toes to feel free. Great shoe!

I loved the look of this shoe. The shoe runs big, order down a size. That said, the rivet for the strap was right where I have a funky instep bone. Sadly, have to return.

I wear a 7.5-8, size 38 in dansko "XPs" (the clogs with the cushioned soles) and am in between sizes (38-39) in the hard soled "professional" clogs. I purchased the 38s in this shoe and really wish I'd gotten a 37! I never wear 37s. Maybe I'll add some wool to the toes. Just too big. I bought them to wear with longer pants and a couple of dresses and they get the job done. The leather on the heel area doesn't kill my ankle bones either (my ankles sit a tad low).

Omg. So. Cute. I ordered my regular size, (8=38) and they fit great. Totally comfortable and wearable right out of the box. I love the height of the heel and the platform keeps it comfortable. The red is super cute and retro, I want more!

Like most of my Dansko shoes these are so comfortable. They are very stylish and appropriate for this time of year. It is worth every penny you pay for the comfort the shoes provide. I could wear them all day and take them off and feel just as if I was wearing tennis shoes all day.

I am really glad I bought these shoes I love them and they are very comfortable. I was on my feet most of the day in them and they fall into the category of one of my most comfortable, stylish pair of Dansko's. As for the size I initially ordered a size smaller as the other reviewers recommended. While most of the shoe fit perfectly the front was too snug for me and my toes felt a bit too close to the front. So I went up to my normal size 38 and there is some room in the back, but it is what I am used to with my Dansko clogs. So for example I would say if you are in-between sizes like a 37-38 go for the smaller size, but if you are truly a 38 you might want to stick with that knowing it will be a bit roomy around the heel.

Get so many compliments and can wear them all day with no foot pain!

Good looking shoe! I hover between a 37 and 38 in a Dansko--I ordered this in a 37 and it's too small (too short in the toe) so I'll need to exchange it. If you fall between, you might need to order up.

Loved the look of these shoes! I really wished they would have been a little wider. The width was a tad too narrow so I decided to return them. I felt like the 3 inch heel pushed my foot forward too much. Wish they would have worked out.

I purchased the Dansko Darlene based on my experience wearing other Dansko shoes. These shoes were extremely uncomfortable to wear, and upon wearing them for a day (outside unfortunately), I found I could no longer wear them without injuring the ball of my foot. I had tried to wear them around the house to gauge their comfort, but it wasn't a good representation of actual usage. These feel no different than any other high-heeled shoe. And they seem to run a half size too large.
