I bought these boots approximately two months ago and am thrilled with them. They are so comfortable, but I took them over and was amazed at the tread loss. I am a long time Columbia fan, but this is a little disappointing to me. I do wear them 5 days a week for work, but even still I don't think they should have this much tread loss. At this rate I will need to purchase another pair in 5 or 6 weeks. I just wanted to give a review of someone who wears them to work in. Be prepared that they only last three months or so.

Was skeptical when I received them but, i wore them for a 12 mile hike right out of the box with no break in period and they felt great. Im a larger guy 6'8 and 310 and they hold up nicely. Waterproof as well.

Fit is excellent. Comfort is off the charts. Feel like slippers their so comfortable. I bought some black and grey laces as my kids were giving me a hard time with the red ones they came with. Love the new laces as well.

I was so happy when I thought I found a 2E boot that is close to my shoe size since I am such a difficult fit due to my very wide, but not so big women's size foot. I have turned to men's 7 with a 2E width, but these boots unfortunately did not feel like a 2E. They felt much narrower. I was very disappointed. I wish they made more women's boots in 2E or at least more 2E in the smaller men's sizes. I guess I'll keep looking, though I've found some success with Keen's 2E. Thanks Zappos. You have great customer service.
I'd also recommend:
Keens 2E have a wider, more comfortable toe box

Stay away from these boots, they are defective. I purchased these and the U-shaped rivet which holds the laces on top snapped after only a few uses. I then return them and got the same pair only to have the exact same rivet break without much force. Customer service was great resolving both of these issues and refunded my account. Hopefully they remove them from their website so this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Got this boot just before a winter trip. Its a light and very comfortable boot with a very good grip in ice and snow. It was just enough when we were snow shoeing with temps in the 20s. I wouldn't recommend it for harsh terrain or super cold temperature as my feet were just warm & comfortable enough with good socks. You're aware of every rock you step on.

Men's Colombia Newton Ridge boots were more comfortable than the Women's. I'm a Women's size 8 with a wider foot. I ordered the Men's Newton Ridge Plus ll Waterproof size 7EE, and also the Women's Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped boots size 8.5D wide in Stratus/Canyon Rose. The Men's Newton Ridge Plus ll Waterproof boots are HANDS DOWN THE WINNER. I'm not sure if it was a manufacturing flaw, but the Women's Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped boots felt strange in the heel, and in general the boot just didn't feel as comfortable. The tongue on the Women's boot also comes up much higher. I know the styles are not exactly the same, but in terms of sizing they're supposed to be the same. I could wear a thick pair of socks with both boots, but the Women's pair was more snug. The styling of the Women's boot is cute and of course I prefer most of the color ways to the Men's boots, but the Men's boot in the Abyss/Dark Mountain color way looks pretty great (I love a gum sole). I purchased these boots for gardening, hiking, and walking the dog on rainy days. I think either pair would be great for all those uses. If you have a wider foot, and are in the size range where you can order Men's boots I recommend giving them a try.

I bought these boots a couple of months ago and it has been snowing and very cold this winter in my home town in Michigan. I like to power walk everyday and have been using my Columbia Newton Ridge Boots just about everyday. The boots are waterproof, warm, comfortable and roomy inside. I like the shock absorption and traction too. These boots are a very good value for the money and I will buy another pair so I can rotate my boots every other day. Thanks for a great product!

We do a lot of hiking now that we live in Utah and during the fall you can easily go from dry to snow in hours. I bought these for my son who has huge wide feet, 14 EE, and they fit perfect right out of the box. He was able to walk through streams, snow, mud, and sand with no issues including keeping his socks dry. They have held up better than other more expensive shoes, we will be buying more when they are finally worn out.

Overall, I liked the boot. It is comfortable and the fits well. My dislike is one of the shoe lace rings came out of the shoe which is a nuisance. It is no longer attached to shoe. I have only worn the shoes 3 times and otherwise would have rated higher.

My girlfriend bought me these as a gift two months ago and I've used them almost daily since. They are very comfortable to walk in and have great traction. I live in NH and walk on an icy and snowy path daily for exercise, and these handle it without a problem. The waterproofing holds up well and i feel comfortable going into ankle deep snow. The boots are lighter than I would expect for a shoe of their size. Because of this, though, they are not particularly warm. I would not recommend using them in sub-freezing temperatures for hours. I believe they will prove to be a capable all season boot once warmer months come by. Note that they may run slightly larger than expected; I wear size 9.5 Nike and size 10 Adidas but 9.5 in these boots is a little big on me.

Got these in 7 men's instead of my usual 8.5-9 in women's as I found that there are sometimes better selections of color and style in men's shoes. I am a 60+ female and found the color, style and comfort great right out of the box. I do nothing more than wear my shoes from point A to point B, so cannot comment on practical wear of these boots for their intended purpose. Thanks Zappos!

I bought these for my son, who is extremely picky and comfort oriented. These boots met his approval! Lightweight, yet sturdy. He will wear them them for hiking, horseback riding, paintball etc... Good ankle support.

I gave the boots 3 stars for their awesome looks and so many different colors to choose from. From appearance, the boots have good arch support. I tried on a pair at Academy and thought a wider sizer may work for me. so I ordered from Zappos, which has always done me awesome! I tried these on a church gym floor at an event. After an hour of wearing, I was extremely glad to get them off and my feet and slip back into my comfortable Asics gel venture 7, size EEEE (also purchased from Zappos). I have a little arthritis in both feet after recovering from plantar fasciitis years ago. So finding a pair of shoes that are comfortable is no easy task. The style of these boots are incredible. I'm sure they may work out for most people.

These are great hiking bootsI live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and have hiked hundreds of miles all over the world. Over 40 years of mountain hiking experience, these boots have served me well. Don't pay attention to the troll who posted several negative reviews under different names, his job is to do that and it's really not truthful. These trolls are paid to rag others, because their products can't compete. Besides, Columbia would surely warranty any defects. So, I have used many high end hiking boots from top makers costing twice, even three times as much. These are well crafted with good materials, are very comfortable and lightweight. I find no defects and were perfect in every way. Great traction on slippery surfaces, rocks and grades. Waterproof as good as any high quality brand. I'm very sure no one makes a better boot for the money, even those higher priced offerings. Columbia works very hard at designing and developing fine outdoor merchandise at competitive pricesbacked by years of customer satisfaction. What impressed me most was the comfort and quality.

This is my 7th pair of these boots in as many months. I hike and walk 10-20 miles a day (I know, I'm crazy -- and have a lot of time on my hands). The boots wear well, though typically the lining around the heel wears away after one week's usage (probably peculiar to my feet and gait). Anyway, I keep coming back because my feet and ankles have found the perfect companion for hiking and walking longer distances in this boot. The boot is inexpensive for what it is, it's warm when it's freezing out it's not too hot when it's too hot out, it's reasonably water resistant, and it's comfortable for my feet. Of course, who knows about your feet -- and what do online reviews abut shoes really mean anyway -- every body is different.

I've had these for about a month and pretty impressed so far. First off I have flat feet and usually have to really pull the laces tight to give my feet enough arch support. The soles on these is pretty firm so I don't have to wring the laces like I usually do with boots. The tread has a soft grippy rubber that gives you lots of traction on slick and uneven surfaces. It might wear quicker than some boots but it is comfortable. I sprayed these down with some of that water repellant stuff and it really helps keep the scuffs and dirt off the leather. These boots are also surprisingly light! They weigh more like a tennis shoe than a hiking boot. Overall I'd say as long as they last its a very good boot for the money.

The fit is incredible comfort. Lightweight - fashionable and a bargain price with quick shipping from Zappos. I'm getting alot of notice and compliments on my construction project however I cannot disclose that they are "Hiking" boots. I'm delighted with this great find from Columbia.

These boots are pretty good for hiking on dirt, muddy, and snowy paths but it is not very grippy on icy paths. They are pretty comfortable but I wish they were just a tad wider. The waterproofing is pretty good but I only waded through some shallow puddles and about 6 inches of snow. As for the style I think they look pretty nice, but that's subjective.

Fit well & feel good. They are fairly light and have great tread on the sole; i do not plan on slipping on ice/snow! Mostly comfortable to walk around in, but obviously not as comfy as a sneaker. Good boot for walking in snow.

They fit great and are warm in the winter. Haven't tested out the "hiking" part of the boots or the durability. But, so far, I love them.
