Once again Brooks has dropped the ball with the Beast 16. You'd think they'd learn from the previous version and fix the problems but nope. Again, it feels too narrow. I wear size 12 EE but I had to get 12.5 4E because it's too narrow. My toes feel like they are being pinched together, it's EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. Not only that but the shoe "tongue" looks bigger than the previous version. There's a slit (cut?) opening in the middle of the tongue that says 16 (for new version year obviously) where the shoe laces pass through and another at the top of the shoe tongue that says "tongue tied" (how lame is that?). When you tie your shoes, it looks like it creates a huge air bubble on the shoe tongue right below the "16" opening. It looks absolutely tacky and cheap. You can see the in the pictures what I'm talking about where the laces pass through the silver colored "16" and the top of the tongue. If you re-adjust the laces and remove them from these "slits" (I can't find the proper word at this moment) then the tongue feels way too big because the laces are lowered now. Total fail. The only good thing about this shoe is the color (I got black/silver). Other than that, this new version sucks, and it doesn't help that it's $10 more than the previous version. Seriously? As I said, Brooks dropped the ball.. again.

Exactly as most of the other reviewers said, these Beasts are just off. I too have been a fan of Beasts and have ordered my fair share of them from Zappos over the years. These are just plain uncomfortable even after trying multiple sizes and widths. I would encourage previous Beasts purchasers to find an alternative shoe. This is unfortunate since many Beast purchasers buy these shoes for very specific reasons.

Very disappointed as I have been a Beast fan for 10+ years. Unfortunately with this latest update the toe box is way to narrow. I'm a 13 EE and I cannot where this shoe walking around the house without feeling my toes getting pinched. I really like the look but the fit is off

I don't know what Brooks did but their 4E extra wide is no longer extra wide. There was no way I could keep these my toes were rubbing against the sides. I've bought the Beast several times and these were a total disappointment because of the poor fit. Brooks you need to listen because you just lost a customer until you fix this problem. And from what I have read from other reviewers they have had the same problem.

Very comfortable shoes. Bought these to help w arch support and over pronation. I have been wearing them for a week and my feet feel great - night and day difference from my previous shoes. Price is steep but my feet are a lot happier!

As a 10 year plus Beast wearer the 16's are a colossal disappointment. These actually HURT my feet--a rare occurrence with any running shoe. They are narrower than previous Beasts ("sleeker" in Brooks parlance) and the toe box seems stunted. Note to Brooks: Your "base" for this shoe is us flat-footed pronators. By tweaking the last you may attract a neutral gait runner, but you're losing your original target flock. New Balance anyone?

Very comfortable to walk and stand all day at work in better than Ghost 9 which I loved a lot but these seem better!

I don’t understand all of the negative reviews on these shoes. I have the Beast 14 and was nervous to order the 16 because of everything I read about fit & feel. I tried them on in a brick & mortar and can say without a doubt they fit & feel EXACTLY like my old pair. When I’m not looking down, they feel like my broken in 14s right out of the box. I love the support I get to help my severe overpronation, and they are the only shoes I’ve ever found that I didn’t have to replace the insoles with $50 Superfeet. FYI, I wear a 12D and am 6’1 & 185 lbs.

This shoe fits better than the Addiction 12! I like the Addiction 12 but my Beast 16 arrived today and they are more comfortable than any shoe I own right now. I can’t believe how much room I have in the Extra Wide size. The style isn’t bad but I am not a big fan of a white bottom shoe.

I have wide very flat feet and I have worn custom orthotics for years. In the past I purchased New Balance 8.5 4E shoes and then they started getting narrower so a couple of years ago I tried the Brooks Beast and needed to go up in size to 9 / 4E and had great results. Then I needed some new shoes and I read recent reviews about the Brooks Beast being narrower so I thought I would try out several options and here are the results for me. Asics Gel Kayano 24 ordered 8.5 and 9 in 4E and both were too narrow – could barely get my foot in the shoe New Balance M1540V2 ordered 8.5 in 4E and 6E (had to order 6E direct from NB). Both were too narrow. The 6E was close but not quite wide enough. Brooks Beast ’16 size 9 / 4E. The widest of the group and I am actually using them without the orthotics and they are feeling good.

My podiatrist recommended the Brooks Beast following an episode of plantar fasciitis. Along with a new pair of orthotics, this shoe provided excellent support and made it progressively easier to walk, and certainly aided in my recovery. Even when my foot was not feeling the "good," wearing the Beast was incredibly helpful in reducing the pain and discomfort in my foot. With improvement over many months, I was able to return to the gym for strength training and cardio. Being able to walk again without pain is a joy. Personally, I would highly recommend the Beast, in general, and specifically to anyone seeking or needing solid support in a shoe. This is my second pair.

Brooks continues to knock the ball out of the park with the Beast 16. This is my 6th pair of Beast shoes and everyone release seems to get a little better. I am a 124E and the shoes fit perfectly with my orthopedics. Very supportive and plenty of cushion. Expensive shoes but they are well worth the price.

I have feet that make a duck look like they have high arches. My ankle also rolls in when I walk so over-pronation has always been a problem. This has caused plantar fasciitis among other issues. I loved the Mizuno Wave Alchemy series, but I've finally worn those out and had to find something comparable. These are worlds above the Mizuno's (I never thought I'd find a more comfortable shoe). They do run small, so I was happy with one size larger. If you have flat feet and over-pronate you will love these. I just wish they weren't priced like Air Jordans.

Best athletic shoe I've ever bought. Very comfortable, and great fitting shoe!

I have been wearing the Beast for many, many years and this new pair is just the same as always. It fits like a glove even with my orthodics and is very comfortable. Previous comments have mentioned that the shoe is too narrow but this is not the case for me. My feet are fairly narrow so I don't have that problem. To me the fit is perfect.

First time in the Beast and I love them fit well and great look also. I do add a Dr. Scholl's insert and makes the shoe even better.

Amazing comfort and support. Wore to the local golf course that plays just under 7,000 yards. So a good four mile walk and my feet felt great when I got done. When I got home ordered a second pair and put my old shoes in the Goodwill box. Will be looking to see what other models Brooks offers in size 16. They do run a bit small but as I’m and 15.5 wearing 16’s because past size 12 the industry has decided we don’t need half sizes. The fit was perfect for me.

This is my husband's 4th pair of the Beast, the second in the '16 release. It is a great shoe. He goes up a full size and goes a width wider than normal, and then they're perfect. The support is excellent. At first we thought they were expensive, but they are way cheaper than knee surgery.

Always have been a brooks fan but this is my first “beast” purchase. Comfortable right out the box. Would highly recommend them if your on the heavier side of societies obese scale ??. But all in all a great shoe haven’t been able to work out in them just yet but I really don’t see any issues. Even if I did brooks has a 30day trial period which is more even more awesome .. NIKE who?

I've worked out and run in Brooks shoes for over a decade, and Beasts for at least 7-8 years. I'm an over-pronator, and I'm happy to say this shoe still provides the best overall support for running and working out. And it doesn't look too shabby for an aging guy like me.

Many years ago, when I was running 10K races, I purchased the Beast to replace another brand that I'd worn out. I loved the cushioning, the support and the stability that it provided and I think I went through about three models of the shoe before buying one that just did not work for me at all. It was way too small and too narrow for my feet and that's the last model I ever bought until recently when I ordered the model 16 from Zappos. My experience was different from many of the reviewers here. I'm well past the age where I run anywhere but my wife and I walk at least two miles every morning, plus whatever other walking we do during the day. These shoes fit exactly as I hoped they would right out of the box and they provide the cushioning, support and stability that I need. I'm very pleased with them and will probably purchase another pair when (if) I manage to wear these out.
