This is a 5* recommended review for a coat I sadly returned, but let me explain why. The guide to coat warmth is incorrect, the Koda is absolutely much warmer than the Magnus - I went by the guide and preferred the look and colour of the Koda and didn't dig into comparing types of insulation. Big mistake.
The Magnus has 80g, and this has nearly double. With the 140g Coreloft it is a very warm, soft and light coat and would be dearly loved if it was colder here or I didn't run constantly hot but it's just too much for anything but the most gentle meander for me. The Goretex Thermium stood up without fault to all the rain that got chucked at it for the short excursions out it was intended for, no more than 45 mins tested though.
All said the fit is great, the look smart and despite being a more normal coat all the attention to detail and nice touches are there. The hand pockets feel wonderful. I was very pleased with it other than the mistake based on the warmth guide.

Impeccable minimalist design; fairly lightweight. Also much warmer than I would have thought.
I wear it NYC winters with only a thin layer or a t-shirt underneath.

One of the best parkas I have ever owned. So lightweight for the warmth it provides. Looks classy as well. Well done Arc'teryx!

This coat is very enjoyable and has a perfect fit all over. Often parka's and winter coats make that you cannot move your body parts anymore. In this case you free. Warm and cosy. Good looking.

Just spent 12 days in South Korea (8 to -8C) and this jacket was warm, cut out the biting wind (the hood worked really well cutting out the wind) and held up well during light snow.
Comfortable and combined well with a Covert mid layer without being too bulky. Easily rolled up into the hood and stowed into a backpack when it got warmer. Shopping malls in Seoul are very well heated!
One small gripe is that the pockets are a little small. Could probably do with another chest pocket as well.

Un trs bel achat, conforme la marque. Je ai juste un petit dtail ennuyeux. Le collage du sigle arcteryx est trs mal fait indigne du prix.

Great jacket for various temperatures (-5 > 12 C). Kept me dry in hard rain while not fully waterproof. Nice fit and look, finish is very good.
Very comfortable due to it's lightweight, fit and soft lining.

Nice product, I am a bit disappointed that the jacket leaks warmth. I also feel like the wind is blowing straight trough.
I have only used the jacket in city conditions (-5/-15) degrees

I needed to replace my old kappa and its not quite as good. I'm really really hoping this isnt the new direction Arc'teryx in moving in.
The good: - quality materials, looks great - what you should expect in a premium jacket
The bad: - no drawstring at bottom of jacket, no elastics in cuffs, small pockets and The biggest problem is no dump pocket on inside
The ugly: -this might be what we can expect in the future from arcteryx - less features expected in a premium product for an increased price :(
Overall its a good jacket for urban use, but no dump pocket to stash gloves and toque when you want to go inside and tiny exterior packets makes it a 3.5 star

This jacket serves me well for cycling in winter in Toronto. It would be perfect if not for the awful pockets design. It's supposed to be a city jacket yet there is no exterior chest pocket! It means that I have to put my smartphone in the inside pocket (I don't like putting it in the hands pockets), forcing me to open the jacket in the cold every time I need access to my smartphone.
On top of that, that inside pocket is super small and things inside it will fall down if you don't zip it up all the time.
I lost stuff because of that, I should have been more careful but for such a pricey jacket, this pocket should have been better designed. At this price point, it's not the user who should compensate for the drawbacks of the jacket.
One smaller complaint is the hands pockets which as lined for warmth on the wrong side. The fleece lining is oriented towards the body, warming the palm of the hands when they're inside the pockets. But there's no fleece lining on the other side, leaving the backside of the hands cold. Why not lining the hands pockets entirely?

it's a sweet jacket super warm and you look good wearing it, however it could be a little slimmer, a system to tighten the bottom would be nice.

Great jacket, perfect for urban use in the autumn and winter. sheds rain really well, but where it really performs is in cold, dry conditions as it's so warm and comfy. The fit is large though, so I'd suggest downsizing.

Great jacket for everyday use. Fits quite large, I'm 6'2 and 220lbs, and I had to get the Medium.
It's warm, windproof and stylish. However it could do with more pockets and a hemcord. The cuffs could also do with more options, but other than that it is a very nice jacket for urban wear.

Needed a good looking winter coat and the Koda fits the bill very light weight and can be packed away easily. Always get compliments on the look. If you ever need a warm coat that you can wear over a suit this is a good choice nothing above your knees will get cold.

Overall a nearly perfect jacket for my winter bicycle commute. Just the right amount of warmth and perfect length. Also very good resistance to rain.
The reason for the 3 star (instead of 5 star) review is the hood adjustment. The drawcord locks don't hold the drawstrings in place. I can adjust the hood to tighten it, but the drawstring start to slip through the locks almost immediately, and the adjustment doesn't hold for even 5 minutes. Either the drawstring is too thin, or the locks are too big. Arcteryx usually gets all the details right, so I'm surprised about this problem.
The hood of my new Therme jacket also has the same problem.
Otherwise, this is an excellent jacket.

I purchased the Koda about a week before Christmas 2018 and have worn it eight times, so far. Based on my limited time with the jacket I have observed the following:
The Good - very warm for its weight (super freakin' light); wore it without any problems in the recent -25 degree temps that invaded southern Ontario in January 2019; wore it over a lightweight merino wool sweater; shell blocked wind very effectively and kept out snow and water. My caveat being: I was outside for no more than 15-20 mins at a time, multiple times per day during the coldest weather so I can't speak for its ability to handle very low temps for extended periods. The hood can be cinched down around your face, and I didn't find it too big (despite some other reviews).
Size-wise, I bought a small. I'm 5-10, 163 lbs and the small fits perfectly. Tried a medium and it was billowy in the torso and the arms were too long. Consider trying one size down from your typical size.
Not So Good - Koda loses its loft fast. I've worn the jacket for a grand total of 15 mins in the car and approximately 45 mins sitting on the train, and the back insulation in the Koda went from quite lofty to rather compressed. I would guess that the back of the jacket is no thicker than a sheet or two of corrugated cardboard now, but the shell material shows no signs of abrasion or wear. The loft hasn't come back though... Arms, shoulders, and the front of the Koda seem fine. Only time will tell whether the compressed loft in the back will significantly impact my ability to use the coat in cold weather. Lastly, I found the Koda difficult to adjust (the hood) on the fly. Would recommend setting it indoors, and leaving it alone.
I'm hoping to at least get two winters out of it - but who knows at this rate.
Given the above, I would suggest that the Koda is best recommended for people looking for a cold-weather, walking-around coat only. Sitting in a car or on a train repeatedly, or for extended periods, seems to squish the insulation down a significant amount - and it doesn't want to "loft" back up; therefore, I'm hesitant to recommend it if that is the intended use.
