I bought this jacket to serve as my lifeline in the harshest and most exposed situations I could reasonably expect on my alpine excursions. It kept me warm on summit day on Rainier and evenings at high camp on Baker. While I could have gotten by with less on these peaks, this jacket will be put through its paces on Aconcagua. This piece provides exceptional warmth without the weight and bulk of otherwise similarly warm jackets, critical when counting every gram and when pack volume is also a consideration. It must be mentioned, however, that despite its minimal weight and bulk, the robust face fabric also provides significant shielding from wind, snow, light precipitation, and the occasional unavoidable abrasion, a quality often lacking with lightweight down jackets of this calibre. Arc'teryx has struck the optimal balance of warmth, weight, compressibility and durability.

So far I love this coat. I have usually avoided down as to bulky but I gave this one a shot. While a little puffy it was so light and comfortable and WARM that slightly thicker was not an issue. Between my wife and kids we have own at least 7 coats in the past 20 years. Not a lot of coats but because they are so tough!

This is a very dynamic jacket. Very warm and light compared to my North Face Himalayan Parka, feels double the weight.

This is a great jacket that is very warm and looks superb.
Im 5 11 and 170lb and went for the medium which is a good fit, as other reviewers have said the arms do seem snug in relation to the rest of the jacket but for me at least this hasn't presented a problem.
Highly recommended.

Finally! Jacket is so lightweight I thought maybe they had shipped the wrong product because the package it came in felt empty.
Jacket provides warmth while still keeping my shape in tact. Other warm winter parkas are usually unflattering but this one manages to still look stylish.
I chose the red and am very pleased with it - it's a nice crimson, classic.
Cuffs are silky so fiddling with gloves/mittens is easy, without the annoying Velcro fasteners that stick to everything.
Hood is spacious and completely adjustable for use with helmet or hat or ponytail, with a deep brim.
Warmth level is completely adjustable with chosen layers beneath. I am between a small and a medium and went with the medium so that I can wear my down and fleece layers beneath when super cold out. I also have long arms and struggle with finding coats that don't cover my wrists so went with medium to ensure sleeve length provided good coverage. Was not disappointed.
It is pricey. But with it being goretex and so amazing, I am confident that this will be the last winter jacket I buy!

The first thing that amazed me was the great fit(I bought a large and I'm 6 ft, 207lbs with a moderately sized beer belly). Next that I loved was how you can reach your arms straight up over you without pulling the waist hem up. You could be very active in this jacket. The waist hem comes down low, btw, which I love. The design is efficient and smart; there is no wasted materials that are unnecessary. The hood is perfect and deep, but with the ability to use drawstrings to size it to your liking. I would describe the jacket as simple and intelligent at the same time. Also, I've read people having trouble with the zipper and I guarantee you this is user error, not a design flaw. The zipper is double flapped, with a narrow "windbreaker" strip that goes just behind the teeth, and then a 1.25 inch wide down filled second counterflap under that. Its a brilliant design, but like most things with zippers you have to mind what you're doing when using it.

Worth every penny. You could either light a fire or you could put on your Firebee. I used this parka backcountry camping in BC in negative single-digit temperatures and was completely warm when lounging around camp. Compared to the Patagonia Grade VIII It does not compress down as small but it felt warmer in the shoulders, had a more durable outer shell, and was a trimmer fit.

This jacket is a brilliant design. There are no seams between the down segments to let in cold air. Thus, the jacket is immensely warm for such a light weight. The fit is great as you feel the jacket kind of hugs you but without restricting movement or sacrificing layering. I'm 5' 11" and weigh 176 pounds. The large size fits me perfectly with plenty of room to layer underneath it. I sometimes wear an Arcteryx down vest under the jacket and it is perfectly comfortable. Today, it was 6 degrees F below zero and windy. The Firebee kept me nice and comfy. What an absolutely great jacket!! As others have mentioned, the zipper can catch material when you start to zip it up. I view this as a minor issue as you simply give a tug on the material and the zipper lets loose. I just bought a Firebee for my wife (who is so appreciative because now she stays warm on the few days we have deep cold) and her coat has the same issue with the zipper. She also views this as minor and just loves the Firebee. That said, Arcteryx should put in a design fix for this. Overall, this is one of the best purchases I've made in the last decade. The Firebee is simply the best in it's class and I whole heartedly recommend it.

Perfekt anliegend. Geniale Verarbeitung. Sportlicher fit. Sehr leicht und dabei sehr warm. Fr mich 75kg 180cm perfekt. Bisher wallen alle Daunenjacken zu weit fr mich. Gute Beweglichkeit. Sehr schne Farbe. Groe Taschen.

I am so sick of always being cold! Trying to figure out multiply layers under a shell and in the end being claustrophobic and unable to move freely.
I think my life changed when I decided to add a Firebee to my backpack. Not much more weight or volume but the comfort of knowing I will not freeze no matter how the weather turns. Aside from having a warm safety net if i need it, I simply through the Firebee on over whatever I am wearing the second I stop for lunch, a transition or belay. Because why not.
I really suggest you add this to your wardrobe if your one of the people that everyone is continuously asking "are you actually that cold!?"
Its brilliant!

Absolutely love this jacket, the blue is a fantastic colour and really quite smart. The loft of the thing is crazy- so much so that you have to force your arms in, expelling air as you go. I have only worn it down to -5 and it was beautifully warm and light.
Im 6ft and weigh 80 kilos. I got the medium and its a pretty snug fit. I tried on a Ceres in the medium as well and that was huge by comparison with much wider shoulders.
Overall this is an exceptionally high quality jacket which is beautifully made. Yes its expensive but I think, totally worth it

Very early days with the Firebee but so far really impressed , the loft is quite remarkable !! I'm 6 feet 4 inches with really long arms and have always had difficulty with sleeve length , not this time !! The warmth is a given .I'm pretty slim and the large fits well but due to the loft if you are thicker set maybe go up a size ..Overall though very pleased indeed ...

There were few options for me when I was looking for a bomb proof down parka for extreme cold/climbing/ice climbing etc.
This parka is wonderfully designed. I LOVE the mesh under the arms that doesn't show through to the outside. Just right for venting.
The outside of the pockets are insulated and you can tell.
The hood is perfect for over a helmet, and even though the jacket is bursting with insulation it fits over all your layers-love the long back!
Aside from the amazing features, like 850 fill, wind proof and water resistant, awesome weight to warmth ratio....it is wonderfully designed and I love it!

This is the warmest jacket I've ever owned. I used to live in northern Minnesota and would camp when the temps dropped to -20f and below. I can wear this in my tent and stay toasty warm. It's small packed size is a huge perk when your bulky winter bag is getting full.
The price is high, but good luck finding a jacket that even comes close to the Firebees warmth to weight ratio.
I now live in the mountains of Colorado and will get to really test this out in the winter months, I have the utmost confidence in this just like every other piece of kit I own from Arcteryx.

This is my first Arcteryx product and I am extremely impressed and pleased with the design. I was searching for an extremely warm down jacket that was also semi-fashionable and a good color, and I found that perfect blend in this jacket. Okay yes, it's very puffy and you might look a tad like a marshmallow but the violet wine is a gorgeous color. I love how it packs down small, which is perfect for winter backpacking but also looks good enough to wear around town as a normal winter jacket. I tested the performance out in light snow, and it kept me warm and the snow beaded right off. I typically wear an XS in most clothes, and thus purchased an XS in this jacket. It does feel a tad snug if I'm wearing extra layers already before putting on this jacket because it has so much loft. So I may order a small for comparison. But this jacket is definitely a winner!

I use this jacket in Northeast China where we see -15F or lower throughout the winter. This jacket is amazingly warm in these cold temps, I no longer need to layer up like my other jackets. Durability seems great with the Gore Thermium shell and I never see the down escaping, so I believe this jacket will hold up for a long time (definitely helps justify the price)
I love how light the jacket is, I can't stand the heavy parkas from competitors; this jacket is like wearing a warm cloud all the time.
I picked a medium and it fits my 6ft, 170lb frame great.
