Using for Alpine skiing and climbing. Wet snow , rain , storm. No worries. You are warm ,dry , comfortable. This should be your first Arcteryx Shell if you are a starter. I love my Beta SV

I have had an ArcTeryx Alpine jacket for 16 years that I was going to retiree. The Beta SV is just what I was looking for but the hoot is helmet comparable and way to big to wear with out a helmet. Too bad there's no similar product out there that is for us Rocky Mountain folks who are in the alpine with out a helmet!

I have been wearing Arc'teryx for many years and it's been my experience that this is a top notch company not just in its quality of garments but also its business operations and services. I've had multiple pieces that have been covered under their warranty and either fixed or replaced with a credit. No other company I know of will stand behind their product like this. Seriously above and beyond in customer satisfaction.
I've owned the Alpha SV and now this Beta SV and I prefer the Beta. IMO more universally useful for my interests and activities. I generally need a very good shell for hearse MN winters to disc golf where movement is not sacrificed. This piece is simply outstanding. I am 5,9" and 165lbs and the Medium fits me perfectly, enough for layering and not too baggy with just a t shirt in the summer. Truly a 4 season shell. (I do have also a Zeta SL for summertime that is of course more ideal for warmer weather but nice to have the SV as a backup if things get ugly.)
Anything Arc'teryx is typically expensive but IMO also an investment. When you decide to commit to an activity or travel destination, you want to be confident that you're prepared for whatever nature can throw at you. This is where you will be extremely successful and ultimately satisfied.

I bought the 2022 Beta SV to replace my 2017 Alpha AR jacket which had started to delaminate. When Arc'teryx could not repair the item, they kindly compensated me with a generous discount on a new one. This excellent level of customer service, even after 5 years, is what you can expect when you choose to invest your money in one of these products. With Arc'teryx, you get what you pay for, and they stand by their products to the hilt! I am 180cm (6ft) tall, with a 38-inch chest and 32-inch waist, and I was surprised to see that I am considered "Small" in their sizing guide. Although I have worn medium sizes in the past, I read reviews of the updated cut of the jackets and decided to order a small, as recommended. The new jacket fits me beautifully. The cut is slim and form-fitting, but there's plenty of room for a couple of base-layers and a padded jacket underneath. In fact, with the new Gore-Tex Pro fabric now incorporating a degree of stretchability, I can even throw a thick jumper under there and still have plenty of room to move freely. The length is absolutely perfect for me, and the tail of the jacket just covers my glutes, but does not extend beyond, so there is no issue with movement when running or cycling. The thick Gore-tex Pro is reassuringly heavy, especially compared with my old AR jacket, and the slight stiffness and noise also makes this feel like the premium product it is. I opted for the red version, and can say that it's very tasteful and not overly bright at all. The matt finish and slightly dulled tone of the red make it perfect to throw on over a suit or other smart outfit around town, but will also give an excellent level of contrast visibility on the slopes or in the woods. Having already been through some pretty harsh December rainstorms in London these past few weeks, I can attest to the fact that the SV sheds like glass. The OEM DWR coating stops heavy rain getting anywhere near the membrane for hours, allowing the maximum breathability for far longer than my old Beta AR used did. Though just a few weeks old, I managed to cover the jacket in greasy grime while working. A quick wash in Granger's performance wash, and tumble dry, and the Beta SV came up as good as new. I'm confident that it will continue to do so for many years to come. And if that expectation is not met in any way, I am certain that Arc-teryx will do all they can to make it right, because that's just who they are! Buy well. Buy once. Buy for years of great service to come. With confidence.

Amazing shell. The medium size is the perfect fit for my 5' 10" 145lb frame. The construction of the jacket is top notch and the attention to detail is beyond what words can say.

Arc'teryx is always top of the line. Very well made and good looking jacket. Definitely runs bigger than my Beta LT and maybe even could have sized down, but perfect for bigger layers underneath and more coverage.

Beta SV was an exceptional product. However, I had to return the product because I bought the wrong size. I repurchase Alpha SV instead and couldn't be happier.

I used this jacket on a 5 day wilderness white water rafting trip in April in the PNW. Ended up in the a massive snow storm and we had no choice to push through the storm. I lived in this jacket, and was 100% dry the whole trip no question. It snowed and downpoured literally non stop. If you want a do it all shell, this is the one.

First time I put this on was in -20 degree weather with 50mph wind gusts. As soon as I put on this jacket I could barely feel the wind at all, and instantly warmed up. Crashed into some trees on the way down and the jacket didn't have a scratch on it

Amazing, Next-to-None construction. I never not been kind to my Beta SV and it still looks brand new. The hood adjustment and fit are so far beyond other brands. No concerns about water getting in. It's water-tight as it gets and affords extreme maneuverability versus the competition. The greatest rain jacket everb made.

This joins a Rush and a Sabre AR in the quiver of Arc'teryx jackets adorning my closet. Each with their own application, I think this will wind up being a standout favorite. Stoked to have an SV piece for the gnarliest of days and happy without a powder skirt, since I'm usually in bibs most days. Also happy to have a solid colorway without contrasting zips or colors. The Bordeaux is a bit darker than it looks on the site... more of a brick-red, than straight red. Haven't been able to use yet, as it's still 70 degrees here in Tahoe, but I'll put it through the paces when winter hits.

Due to work, I spend a lot of time in bad weather. I have never had a day where this jacket has let me down. It has all of the features I need. The longer trim and raised pockets are fantastic for backpacks, the pit zips help keep my temperature regulated and the hood synchs perfectly around my head. The best rain coat out there.

I bought this jacket as an upgrade from my Beta AR - I wanted more coverage and extra storage options.
I knew what to expect as the Beta AR served me well while hiking and scrambling, but the SV adds another layer of peace of mind due to the updated Gore-Tex and multiple user user-friendly pockets. Perfect for storing small items, cards, mittens, hats and even bottles of water. I can easily layer an Atom AR underneath and cinch the hem, sleeves and hood as needed. Dumping heat with the generous arm pits is a must-have feature for me. Hour long walks through pouring rain has been a blast. The "regular" fit is cut looser so to enable easy layering without looking baggy when worn on it's own. Arc have really nailed the construction with the patterning and articulation. I've only used the SV during fall and winter and don't expect to be reaching for it in summer due to the heftiness of the jacket and thicker outer fabric, but for really bad conditions under 15C and way below using adequate layering this jacket is the best. Overkill most of the time, but above many hard shells when push comes to shove.

I purchased this a few months ago in Kingfisher (sort of like a navy blue)- size M to have more of a relaxed fit (I am a true S). I regret not making this purchase earlier- I found that the Beta SV is the true master of the all-round extreme and unpredictable everyday conditions in Vancouver, BC. Make no mistake, Arc'teryx is not fooling around when it comes to the durable, light, 80 denier Gore-Tex Pro that will brave any and all water that hits it, shedding with absolutely zero hesitation. Absolutely incredible. I've even opened up the pit zippers, and have gone out on rainy-day runs in a pinch with the Beta SV, and I must say, it's been a blast. I love the Beta SV, and have no doubt that it'll last me a lifetime.

Bought this jacket in size XS, glad I did. I am 5' 6", 130 pounds, slim build. Can easily wear a base layer, insulation down hoodie under, room for another light layer. Nice color, (Timelapse). The online shopping and shipping was excellent. This is my first Arc'teryx purchase, very happy.

The Beta SV is the best. It truly is designed for the our ever changing world. I've wore this jacket through sleet, snow, and rain, and it hasn't skipped a beat. The jacket is clearly made to be durable and able to with stand a changing environment. While the gore-tex pro keeps you dry and warm along the way.

This shell is quite burly and provides great protection. I tried some the of the new longer cut ski shells out but they didn't move my body as well as this shell. I find it more versatile as I can use it all year round like on the West Coast Trail where it was like someone turned on a shower for 2 days straight. The hood cinch does squeak a bit but its a pretty stiff hood/brim. I like how this Shell doesn't flap around in the wind when skiing, I have a ultra light 3L Gortex pro shell which is a lot lighter and more flexible but doesn't feel as durable.

I ordered the Beta SV online from the Arc'teryx outlet store. This jacket gives amazing protection against all the ugly fall and winter elements so far experienced living here on the west coast of British Columbia. The fit and comfortability of this jacket is second to none.

I bought this about a month ago and we have had some monsoon type rain storms here in Vancouver. When out for a good part of the day this jacket didn't even start to wet out. When I came in out of the rain just a quick shake and it was dry enough to hang in the closet.
