I'm a 40-something, athletic, NYC girl, who, because of right foot ligament/foot pad damage that I got while doing a boot camp class 3+ years ago, needs soft/cushy & substantial soles..What I'm, unfortunately discovering, is, like with everything else made in China (the sole of this shoe is constructed there), that, no matter how much you pay (whether it's more or less), you will NOT be getting well-made/durable, cloud-like, cushioning...And, unless you order 1 full size up, you can NOT put cushy insoles in this bootie...I like the style of this bootie, but, it doesn't even come close to giving me the level of cushioning I need, from the pounding my feet take from NYC walking...Bummer!!

OUCH! I so, so wanted to love these boots, and if I stood perfectly still and didn't walk I'd've been golden. Alas, I'm a walker! The shoes rubbed, hard, across the metatarsals on both feet. I tried with my beloved thin smartwool socks -- rubbed. I tried with no socks -- rubbed. I tried with tights -- rubbed. I tried with a thicker sock -- rubbed. I don't have bunions, but where these boots were rubbing (and let me be clear, rubbing HARD) made me feel as if I soon would be developing them (and certainly a blister) thanks to these boots. I purchased an additional pair to see if perhaps it was just quality control. It wasn't. I know it sounds stupid but I was so disappointed to have to return them because I LOVE their look, but I love the viability of my feet even more. Hard pass.

These are fantastic shoes. They run true to size, and are comfortable right out of the box. They pull on easily and the elastic wool is thick and sturdy, so I do not expect them to wear out any time soon. These are so stylish - it is like I have wanted these for years and they are finally here. The right amount of chunkiness but still sleek. They look great with cropped pants. They are seriously perfect.

I was SO excited about these boots. Loving my first pair of Eileen Fisher boots, I couldn't wait for these to arrive. They are very comfy, but they have to go back, because they don't accommodate my orthotics. There's no way to get the built-in sole out without destroying the shoes. (Not true of my other pair of EF boots.) Sad to have to return them.

I appreciate that these are a more sleek, feminine version of the classic Chelsea boot, yet I agree with another reviewer that they're surprisingly heavy and stiff. I also found them a bit difficult to get on and off. After test driving them for a few days, I decided they have to go back.

I love these shoes! They were a little stiff out of the box, but loosened after a few wearings. They are relatively easy to slip on, despite the lack of a zipper.

Size 10 EF shoes pretty consistently and these are true to size. Very stylish and fun. They go with everything and let me have a Dr. Marten feel/look without actually matching my 13 year old. Great shoes!

I bought these for my daughter for Christmas. She was visiting from NYC so it was awesome how fast they were shipped so that she could try them on and decide. Not only are these boots super fashionable and stylish, but truly functional. She walks a lot in NYC and needs comfortable shoes to get to and fro errands and work. I love Zappos to the moon and back!

Had my eye on these and waited for them to go on sale at EF and when I logged in, my size was gone so I snatched them up from zappos. The style was everything I wanted (5 star), I hate the look of zippers on boots and I really was attracted to the heel style. They are very true to size for me. Not a problem slipping on but a shoe horn helps. The sole is very comfortable. They are stiff (4 star) and will probably soften up with wear. I generally do not wear heels and I really like these heels. Hoping these are my season long shoe. These are probably the most expensive shoes I ever bought but love has a price:)

This is my second time purchasing these. I wore my other pair out. These boots are really comfortable and I can wear them with pants, skirts, anything.

I absolutely love these boots. They're stylish yet incredibly comfortable. Pricey but worth the extra money. Get them! Especially when they're on sale!

These are the perfect modern, yet classic, tasteful, yet edgy black boots! I was on an exhaustive search for a simple and beautiful pair of black ankle boots. I loved the look of the boots and was pleasantly surprised that they are every bit as comfortable as my clogs. These are a no-brainer. They look great with skinny jeans, skirts or dress pants. Happy dance.

I I am a huge Eileen Fisher fan - the brand's timeless minimalist style, flattering fit and high quality materials, design and fabrication are the reasons my closet is filled with Eileen Fisher clothing. Unfortunately for me, although I love most of her shoes, they rarely fit me well. I have ordered dozens of Eileen Fisher shoes, sandals and boots over the last few years and although the style, materials and construction are A+, the fit is usually around a C. I have a medium width foot and generally wear a size 10 (and very occasionally a 10.5 in some brands), and often Eileen Fisher 10s are a bit short and/or bit too wide. The Chelsea boots actually fit me perfectly. My only issue with the boot is that the heel is a bit harder than I would like and the leather took a while to break in.

I LOVE THESE and I wear them all the time with everything. I can be in them all day with ease. They are lightweight and well made.

I bought these booties when I was in an EF store. They are supposedly Eileen's favorite shoe and all the sales people were wearing them. I loved them the minute I tried them on. I bought my regular size 7 because I want to wear a sock with them. Wore them around the store and they are very cushy. I will wear them with skirts and pants. Even cute with rolled up boyfriend jeans. I live in snow, so they have a good tread for ice.

I wanted to like this boot and ordered 2 sizes, but one size was way too big and the other a bit too snug. Could be they were a little too narrow in the forefoot.

This is my third pair of these boots. They have been an absolute staple of my wardrobe and I wanted to make sure I had a new pair while they were available. The sizing seems to have changed a tad over time. First pair I bought I was advised by Eileen Fisher associate to go down half size as they were generous in size so I bought 7.5 and it was a perfect fit once it stretched out a bit. I bought another paid in nubuck leather a couple of years ago in 7.5 again but it was a little short/snug and my toes would hurt by end of day. This time, I purchased size 8 and although there is a wee bit of heel slip, they seem to be right fit. I can add an insole if I feel needed. I still love these boots and they are great with dressed up or down. My only complaint is that it seems like the most recent pair have a much cheaper rubber on the sole...but we'll see how they wear.

Bought and received these boots just a day before an important trip... usually not the best time to break in a new pair of shoes, but the reviews for these had me convinced they were the right option - and they were! I needed a low-heeled, sturdy but flexible boot that would stand up to potential weather and a LOT of walking. I *did* develop some blisters wearing them, but I have delicate skin *and* walked about 60 miles in London streets, shops and museums over five days! Under more normal wear the blisters would not have happened. They’re cute and look great with EF pants and sweaters, too. The 8.5 fit me well... 9 was too big. For the record I typically take a 39 in Prada or Tod’s, two favorite brands.

I found them to be comfortable but I have narrow heels so I about walked out of them. I had to return them.

I returned the 8.5 - too small. Ordered the 9 - returned them - too big...I bought the chelsea boots from Canadienne instead - they are perfect.

I LOVE the fit and feel of Eileen Fisher's Chelsea Boot. However, don't wear light colored socks. The boots tend to bleed into the socks. I walk a lot during the day as a teacher, just wonder why this happens? Never had it happen with any other high end everyday boot (in black) I have purchased?
