I LOVE these shoes. I work on beaches with sands that are fine and soft, shelly and rough, and gritty and coarse. These shoes comfortably handle all of this terrain. The thinner straps don't trap sand either so there is no rubbing or blistering issues! I have had to run in these shoes, climb rocks in these shoes, and work in the water as well. They're definitely all terrain and when I have to stop at the grocery store on the way home from work they are comfy then too. I have narrow feet and the straps adjusted to fit comfortably. People with low arches (like me) may need a few days to get used to the higher arch where it may rub and require a breaking in period. But my back and knees aren't hurting like they used to so I know the higher arch is helping and it no longer feels uncomfortable.

I'm not good at leaving reviews, but on this one I thought I should. When I first put these on, I was going to return them because the straps on the foot seemed to loose. When I wore them around a bit, the adjusted to my feet. I've been wearing these for a couple of days now and they are perfect.

The shoe fit great, I was torn between 6 & 7 and went with 7. I’ve tried chacos before and they hurt my feet, but the cloud seriously makes a world of difference. It’s much more comfortable.

These are great sandals! I am a long time Chaco wearer, but this is the first time I've tried the cloud sole. Two things I really like about it is that it is more cushy than the classic sole and also feels lighter. The fit is great for my foot. I have a wide forefoot and narrow heel, but the regular size actually fit fine. I also have a high arch and this style of Chaco fits my foot better than the Chaco versions with toe loops. The toe loop styles always give me blisters over my big toe. I love that I can easily adjust the straps on these. I picked the blazer green style and it is a nice neutral pattern that looks good with about everything. One thing that has sometimes bothered me with Chacos is the long strap flapping around after I tighten the sandals. I learned a great tip recently from another Chaco wearer while hiking in Asheville. If the strap is too long, you can tuck it behind you up and up through the heel strap. The label at the end of the strap creates a little "hook" to keep it in place when you tuck it. My only other comment about this sandal is that I will be interested in seeing how long the sole wears, since it feels so much lighter than the classics. I have a pair of Chaco with the classic sole that is 10 years old and still going strong. Hope these also wear well!

This was my first purchase of a Chaco shoe. I love the way the straps across the top of the foot are so adjustable, but the strap that goes around the back of the foot is not adjustable. This allowed my foot to slip to the rear of the shoe, placing the arch support too far forward, right behind the ball of my foot. Very uncomfortable! I'm sad, but will have to return them.

Wow, these are supportive sandals! I have narrow feet + high arches and usually have such a hard time finding sandals that are narrow enough or have sufficient arch support. I am amazed that these fit the bill. A booklet is included with instructions for how to tighten/loosen the straps, but I didn't find it helpful as the illustration was for the toe loop style - not the style I purchased. No matter. I fiddled with the straps for a bit and figured it out. The straps are more adjustable than it seems at first, so don't give up too soon. I typically wear a size 8.5 in athletic shoes, but the 8 was perfect.

If you even have a tiny bit of a tall foot, forget Chacos. Every year I am hopeful that a different style of this show might somehow allow me to squeeze my toes inside. But alas, no. I couldn’t even tell if the wide was wide enough, as I couldn’t get my toes under the first straps no matter how much I adjusted them. Super sad.

I have been battling plantar fasciitis for awhile now and my podiatrist recommended that I replace my flip flops with a pair of Chacos. I have high arches and a wide forefoot. I went through almost every Chaco style and finally landed on this one. The styles with the toe straps strangled my big toe - I could not get that toe strap to stay loose. The original Chacos foot bed was too hard. The single strap styles moved around on my foot too much. This model is the winner. I wore them around the house for a couple days and then spent a whole day running errands in them. Super comfortable and I did not have any foot pain at all - what a relief! A few things I have learned on my Chacos adventure. First, try a size down and a size up. I found that in some Chacos styles, size 9 was right but in this one, size 8 is right. I wear a size 9 running shoe. Second, try a lot of different styles and wear them around the house before venturing outside. Thanks for your patience, Zappos!

I am in heaven. I have been wishing for a version of these sandals with a bit more cushioning and even wrote the company about it a couple of years ago. They fit just like my original ZXs, big arch and all. The soles are different (my old ones were Vibram) but so far no complaints. I am so happy for these - now they need to make more colors, or add them as an option for the custom Chacos.

I have planter fasciitis on one foot and a large arthritis bump on the other foot, which that foot also has "drop foot" so I was looking for arch support, heel support, something cushy enough to stand / walk in, something that didn't rub the bottoms of my feet and give blisters, something that was adjustable and could maneuver around the bumps and also stay secured on my drop foot when I lifted it. I have an orthotic but it only works in my Brooks tennis shoes and those are TOO hot right now to wear, so also looking for a shoe that I could wear to Costco (the ultimate test right?) and not be crying about foot pain at the check out. High maintenance shoe shopper here.
I purchased the Z/Cloud X and the Z/Cloud, both in size 10. I am a 10.5 and with most shoes I wear 11's, but with Dansko and Birkenstock, I typically wear European size 41. I have flip flop Chacos in a size 10 that fit just right. I debated whether these were too short (or looked that way) but it seemed like the size 11 had quite a bit of length to them beyond the toes and I can't handle too much shoe as I'm clumsy and trip if the shoe is too long.
I wore both around the house, but couldn't wear the Z/Cloud (the one with the single, thicker strap) long because it wasn't as comfortable. The strap around the outside of my ankle seemed to rub in the wrong place and the strap around outside of big toe rubbed a little. It could just be my feet.
I've been wearing the z/Cloud X for 3 days straight and finally decided to keep them so ventured out in the yard. After a few hours straight standing on my feet, one arch got a little tired (i have flat feet) and I think my feet were just done with shoes after about 12 hours total of wearing them.
The double straps seem to be more compatible with my problematic feet. I worried that I would get all tangled up in so many straps trying to put them on every day, especially since my right foot doesn't work right, but on the contrary, once I dialed them in (meaning to fit my feet) they are pretty easy to slide in and out of. I debated on trying to get a wide size (which I never buy) because it looked like my feet were spilling out, but wide isn't available so I just settled with these. I think a longer size (11) and I would probably trip on the toe - especially with the drop foot. The Cloud footbed version of these is much nicer to the feet than the older, harder versions and not as heavy. The arch and the heel seems to match up to my feet well. I hope this review helps someone because when you have a lot of foot issues, it's helpful to read other's experiences. Photos are of both Z/Cloud X and regular Z/Cloud, both in size 10. As far as style, they are petty close. I noticed the double straps (X) stay more separated now that I've worn them some so it doesn't look like on thick strap.

After trying three pairs and being very very happy with the 4th, I offer the following advice:
1.) All Chaco's straps except the back heel are adjustable. If you try it on and can't get your feet in at all/comfortably, you need to study the pamphlet or watch a video to see how the straps move. In the end you can have a very nice custom fit for EACH of your own oddball feet.
2.) Because the heel strap is not adjustable, it's possible a shoe will be too long and won't work no matter what you do to the straps. It looked like 6W is longer than a 6M, which is annoying; in the end, I could make a 6M work very well even with my enlarged right foot. I think if I needed to go W, I would have tried a 5W, which is crazy considering I wear 7W in a Brooks running shoe. (6W pair was a good 1/2 inch too long!)
3.) Toe loop or no toe loop? With the adjustable straps, it did seem like a toe loop could be very comfortable and feel more secure on your foot than the non-toe loop. Because I landed on a non-toe-loop that fit just right, I'm sticking with it, but I wouldn't rule it out in the future. It's not your ordinary vise-like toe loop because of the adjustable straps. The biggest con for a toe loop IMO was that it took a bit more effort to get your foot in, a bit more complicated of a process; and on the "mega" style the toe strap felt too warm for the toe because of the increased fabric width in that style. (And I'd say Mega was too warm for a warm-weather shoe for me.)
4.) As someone else noted, the double-thin straps style do allow for more adjustment than the thicker ribbons, but you do lose something in terms of getting your feet in and out effortlessly. I imagine the thicker bands would be the least fuss, if they work for your feet in terms of sizing/temperature.
5.) I am managing plantar fasciitis with orthotics and stretching; the Cloud line are definitely comfortable and supportive for this condition. I immediately felt a release in my foot as the weight/muscle tension was so well spread out and arch lifted.

Chacos are a fabulous brand and the shoe was exactly what I wanted and the quality was excellent. However, I failed to order them in WIDE. It was An oversight on my part. I’ve already ordered another pair in wide and have them on their way!

I liked these better than the toe loop. I'm trying several Chaco to see what feels and fits the best for my foot. For this style, I like the wider band better than the thinner double bands. Still on the fence about the fit and feel of Chaco.

Wish I could wear these but they have a very high arch support and my feet are flat. For those that need that support, I imagine these would work wonderfully. The strap system is also very supportive and secure. They come in many cute patterns and, once adjusted to your foot, would probably be in the top 10 for comfort.

I know some people swear by their Chacos, but this was my first time trying them and it was painfully comical how ill-suited they were to my feet. My feet are pretty flat, so the “arch” of my foot was spilling over the edge of the sole where it was pressed against the highly pronounced arch support. This was made worse by the fact that my feet are highly compressible, so I had to really tighten the straps, making my toes look much narrower than my bulging mid-foot while anchoring my toes to be pointed outwards. I don’t consider my feet to be ugly, but they looked truly hideous in these sandals! I also have a short heel, and these shoes have a very deep heel cup, so I had to lean backwards in order to get my heel to touch the sole. It seems that these sandals are designed for the exact opposite of my foot type!! I’m giving it overall four stars because it seems to be pretty good quality, and I can see how these would be extremely comfortable for a certain type of foot, just not mine.

My first pair of Chacos had the toe loop which did NOT work for me - while walking the loop would tighten and strangle my big toe. This version (without the toe loop) is much better! Love the arch support.

I have the original chaco's and it is extremely comfortable with excellent arch support. This version has an unbelievably softer footbed no breakin time but the arch support isn't there like in the original one. So I'm torn. This is still an excellent sandal.

Feel very comfy, soft and form fitting when first putting them on. Chaco advertises that these are the same classic sole with additional padding added to top. I beg to differ. Not near the support. Yes, you can still feel the arch support. But after awhile of wearing feet begin to ache, which means to me that the sole is not holding its form while walking on it. Have worn Chaco classics for years and never once had aching feet/ankles until now.

Do not get the style with the three or two straps. As you wear them they self tighten, I am constantly having to adjust them to keep circulation adequate to my toe. I wish I had bought a one strand sandal...It would probably be easier to deal with.

I wanted to love these because they are cute, but the arches are so weird in these sandals. I wanted a good quality heavy duty sandal for summer activities and such. So there's a normal arch where your natural foot arch is, then there is a big lip a little further back that comes up and rubs the inside of your heels. It was so uncomfortable. I'm not sure whose foot would actually fit in these. I even have fairly high arches and narrow feet that generally can fit into any type of shoe. Also, adjusting the straps every time to weasel them on and off would have been a huge pain in the rear end. Who knows if its just me, but these are goin' back!

Comfortable right out of the box. Straps are easy to move to get just the right fit - which for me is a little loser for everyday wear and a little tighter for hikes/uneven ground. This is my 4th pair of Chacos and some straps take more time to soften up - these are perfect.

I love Chacos. This is my 3rd pair. I have worn them walking all over the USA and Europe and have been comfortable. One criticism: if left in the hot sun, the soles sometimes separate from the main body of the shoe.
