You’re going to want to order wide if you have a normal sized foot. This is a big, bulky battleship of a boot, but the quality of these is incredible - they’re made Vietnam but from US-made Redwing leather, and when I first got them I was really impressed by the retro look and construction quality. Yes, they take a few miles of breaking in to make sure the heel is totally comfortable when you’re going up a steep slope, but otherwise the boot is great out of the box. These also do double duty season wise - In summer my feet tend to sweat uncomfortably, yet somehow these are fine and I’m able to hike without my feet drowning in sweat (I can’t put on a danner boot without feeling my feet start to sweat like crazy). In winter, these boots are perfect. Watertight and burly enough to get through any mess of mud or snow. I have owned them for two years now and use frequently.

Owned quite a number of these back in my HS days. The shoe is comfortable ONLY after breaking them in. The break in period is extremely tedious. And yes, order at least a half size up for they do run not true to size.

I have a pretty messed up back and the right shoes are a must for me to prevent excessive back pain when standing or walking. These boots are some of the most comfortable I have owned. They took a few days to break in, but now I can walk all day in them. They are very supportive and soft on my feet. I bought them for winter everyday shoes to deal with all the slush and mud, but cannot bring myself to stop wearing them now that it's summer. Shoes look good and feel great. They ran a bit small when trying them on in the store and I ended up going up a half size, but with that size increase, the fit is great.

Awesome boot. Great fit and good looking. Have been waiting awhile to find a good fitting boot that would inspire me to get back into hiking. This one was worth waiting for.

This is the fourth pair of Vasque boots that I have owned. These Skywalker GTX are lighter than the all leather Vasque boots that I have had in the past, and are very comfortable. The soles are sturdy and good for hiking over rocky terrain and for backpacking. I find that the newer Vasque boots seem to be made a litter smaller than what I am used to. Knowing that, I just adjust my order size.

Too tight in the toe box. I love the look soooo much. A 80’s style hiker with modern materials. I have given these boots so much time to widen in the toe box. I have used shoe stretchers, worn them while on long hikes, watered them down and stretched them, and nothing seems to work. I would love to tell you to buy these, but they are stiff, not overly comfortable, and not adaptive to one’s foot. I have a 10.5 shoe size, normal width, and most average boots fit just fine. These just aren’t a good long term solution.

Nice boot, but too narrow in the toe box. I take 4E. Keens fit ok, but the only model with a stiff shank for backpacking has either a different last or a narrower toe box.

Everone said buy a half size down. I bought true to size, returned for half size up, returned again for a half size up and wide. Prior to this, not once in my life have I bought a wide shoe. That's bc I don't have wide feet this shoe is tight.Break in is rough. Does someone owe you a ton of money? Make them wear these for you for two weeks and you'll be even. Dear Zappos, I was going to reconsider my overall rating of the shoe to 4 stars instead of 3 but twice the app bumped it up one for me so I'll just leave it where it is. If you want a review on Zappos it would be 5 stars... ??And I am keeping the shoes!

These boots look awesome. I need a heel for my back in construction sales and in Phoenix I need it to be cool in my shoe. I have been breaking these in for 3 days and my life sucks. Every part of my foot and my knees and hips hurt. If these break in they are the perfect item for the job. I will change my review if they actually break in.
