Bought these pants for an extra layer under my bibs for my Alaska trip with intentions to be able to have them as my outer layer for warmer days. These pants were PERFECT! Just enough waterproof. if it starts to start to snow I didn't get wet, kept me warm but not hot, they worked great as an extra layer under my bibs, and were easy to move and climb in. HIGHLY recommended.

The perfect pant for versatile climbing conditions-- I recently used them for climbing in red rocks when the approaches were warm but the higher altitude climbing was freezing, and these pants were great in both conditions. They are breathable and flexible enough that they feel comfortable in cool to warm conditions (but probably would be too warm in summer climbing), yet warm enough that they insulate well in colder rock climbing conditions.
They are also surprisingly durable, and while climbing and bushwhacking through red rocks I ripped and rubbed holes in my Alpha FL jacket (disappointing) but these pants held up great and don't even have a mark on them.
As for fit, these are on the trimmer side-- I generally wear 30" waist/32" length pants (measure about 31"), and the small was a good fit but without much room for expansion (slightly tighter fit than some other small arcteryx pants). The regular length was way too short though (more like 30") presumably to keep the pants away from your climbing shoes or something, so I got the long length which was quite long (like 33") yet turns out to be ok for me (6 ft tall). These are also great looking pants, but I wish they had more options for full solid colors (rather than dual colors).

I wish I could permanently mend these pants to my body so I could wear them forever. They are the most comfortable and breathable pants that I have ever worn. These get worn for backpacking in ALL weather, alpine touring, alpine climbing, cragging, running, and sometimes around the house if I'm feeling extra lazy.
Versatility: too hot? These won't be a problem at all. They are extremely breathable. Too cold? I wear these with my Sataro AR bottoms and my legs are fine down to 10F or so. Rain will eventually get through these things if you spend too much time in a drizzle. Wet underbrush will soak these.
Durability: I bushwhack in these, climb, take falls, everything with no issues. The burly reinforced knee and rear areas help a lot with abrasion. Reinforced areas seem to be grippy on rocks too if you're desperate for a climbing hold. The non-burly areas around the waist may take some wear if you're wearing an abrasive backpack belt for long periods of time.
Stretch: if I needed something more stretchy I wouldn't be wearing pants. Seriously, these things don't impede with range of motion at all.
Looks: the phrase "eyes are up here" will be apart of your regular vocabulary around friends. I have gotten many complements on these just by the looks of them. They are kinda futuristic looking, so I don't wear them around town too much if I'm avoiding attention.
Overall: if these things melted in a campfire or something I wouldn't wait for a sale to pick up another pair. These pants are amazing and there's no going back.

These are by far the best pants I have ever tried on for climbing or anything else for that matter. Incredibly versatile. I wear them for summer rock and big wall climbing, with long johns for warmish Alpine climbing and honestly do fine all winter with two layers of long johns for ice climbing down to -25 ice climbing in the Canadian rockies. I hope Arcteryx never changes the fit as they are perfect for technical climbing. The light weight fabric breathes better than any soft shell I have ever used and although not particularly water resistant, they seem to have almost magical drying properties. The fastening system sits flat under a harness, the pockets allow for venting and the lace clips are a godsend for the occasional posthole. Would change nothing on them and can't recommend them enough. Finally wearing through a pair after 4 years (largely due to errant crampon points) and will definitely buy a new pair.

I purchased these pants to bring as my only pair for a 7 day backpacking trip in Jasper National Park. I gambled with leaving behind my rain pants (to save weight), taking a risk by interpreting 'weather resistant' to mean 'maybe they will be good enough to stop the rain'. Here's what I think. These pants are amazing. The belt system is simple and is comfortable even with a pack belt/suspension system sitting on it all day. The fabric is soft and a little stretchy, and the extra coverage on the rear-end is perfect for when you take a break and sit on logs/rocks/rough stuff. There is a little hook at the bottom of the inside of each cuff that can be attached to your laces to help prevent the pants from coming up during bushwacking. I have no reservations. BUT, they are not waterproof: 5 minutes of hiking in the rain and the knees are soaked through; 10 more minutes and everything from the thigh down is soaked (though they also dry ridiculously fast!). Arcteryx never said they were waterproof, but I see some comments in the Reviews where others had better luck keeping rain out. That wasn't my experience... So, excellent pants, but bring your rainpants too.

For a lightweight pant the Gamma Rock pant does incredibly well in a large range of temperatures. I have worn these doing trail work at 75 degrees and, with a light base layer, at 18 degrees to 20,000ft in Peru. I have skied, rock climbed, and mountaineered in these pants with no complaints.

These pants are perfect for hiking and probably even more useful if you happen to rockclimb.
I used them on a hiking trip to Zion and really enjoyed scrambling up the harder trails without worrying whether my pants would get ruined. The material is breathable and lightweight with the necessary areas reinforced.
I'm 5"6, waist 25 and weigt about 120. I own both the size 2 and 4. 4 is a little loose while 2 feels a more fitted (but not tight!). In general Arc'teryx fits very true to size.

I've worn these pants on numerous ascents - from climbing the Matterhorn to Mt. Rainier, to ice climbing and hiking. They perform extremely well under all circumstances. Highly breathable, quick to dry, and love the fitted cut. Also the 'mini gaiter comes in very handy. My only con would be the material is a little sensitive (ripped the pants on rock).

I started climbing in a gym (Vertical World Redmond, WA) this last fall and have stuck to a pretty consistent 5 day a week or more climbing schedule. I bought these pants because I noticed they are highly regarded as a great climbing pant. This is nothing but the truth. I've climbed at least 100+ times in these pants and have nothing bad to say about them. The black color is great, and the belt system is on point. There are other companies i.e Patagonia that have tried to do the integrated belt but have simply failed at producing a good system. Once you put these pants on and adjust the belt you're set for the day and you don't have to fidget at all. I had a phase where I probably wore these pants for a couple months straight. Climbing, hiking, around the house, around the city, anywhere. If you're on the verge of buying these id advise you to go ahead and do it.

These pants have with stood some serious abuse, OWs, chimneys, sitting around on rocks, bush whacking you name it. The one downfall was my first time out before any major wear the stitching along the crotch had come loose. Now there is a good section where it is just a thread hanging there, I will send in for repair after further wear. Love them and have worn them in 40 degrees and 70 degrees, temp regulation was great in both and not once did I feel to hot or cold. Although I layered them with a base layer during the colder days/nights still had supreme comfort!

Bought these ones before our recent trip to Nepal, and am very happy with how well they performed. Lightweight (important for a 12 day Himalaya trek), windproof and easy to roll up when the sun came out. Used goretex pants over when it snowed, and could fit longjohns underneath during cold mornings. Solid pair of pants, merci Arcteryx!

These are the best climbing pants I've ever owned. They also work perfectly to go to the bar after the gym. The thicker fabric on the back and knees will stand up to years of abuse and sliding around rocks. I would love to take these canyoneering one day.
I don't do much alpine mountaineering, but the lace loop hook is a nice touch. Especially having it stowed away is nice since I really never use that feature. Although, these would be my go-to pants for a summer ascent of mountains in the pacific northwest like Baker or others.
The fit was a bit tricky for me since I fall in between sizes. My waist is a medium, and most times I size up to allow for layering. However, the large in these pants is much bigger, and the waist belt couldn't cinch down far enough so I had to size down to medium. And the medium is running out of room in the other direction, I've almost got the pants as loose as they can go and they are pretty tight still.

These pants are the best I have ever had. Fantastic fit and they look really good too. Used the Arc'teryx fit calculator and it suggested a size Medium, which I ordered and the fit was perfect! I am 188 cm/6'1" and 75 kg/165 lbs.

Fantastic trouser thats really comfortable, sheds water & dry's extremely quickly. The clip on the hem to fix to your laces is a great addition for climbing and general mountain use. I've found them ideal for multi dayers as they shed mud really well
which means you don't have muddy kit in the tent or have to put dirty kit back on. I will be buying a second pair.

I was looking for a good all around outdoor pant for hiking, camping, climbing, etc. I tried on the Gamma LT, Gamma AR, and these. The LT fit great in Medium but I wanted something slightly more substantial material wise. I tried on Medium and Large in the AR and neither of them fit me because the medium was just too tight and large was way too big in the waist - but the Burly material was more along the lines of what I was looking for. So then I tried these Rock Pants in size Large and they fit great, the waist is larger than needed but should be Okay due to the buckle system - which I really like over the other Gamma models. I'm 6'0 and 180lbs. The reinforced Burly areas are perfect and the Fortius keeps them from getting too hot. I like that there are not any cargo pockets (like other Gamma models). Overall I just think the style, material and fit works great for my all around use. I can easily fit a base layer underneath for colder camping nights and they seem like they will be tough enough to take fairly heavy use.

These pants are definitely durable and breath pretty darn well for the weight. They would not be my summer "pant" except in the alpine. My biggest beef is the lack of thigh pockets. While wearing a harness, the "jean" style pockets are harder to use. Since its a climbing specific pant, I would rather have two thigh pockets than the jean pockets if I had to pick one.

I love these pants and wear them constantly. I have climbed all day multi-pitch and almost forget I have pants on, they are so comfortable. Since the material is very slick, it is super easy to get a harness on and off and allows the harness to move where it needs to while climbing. They are very durable under most conditions but ripped while I was bouldering on Granite. So I recommend a different pant for Buttermilks.

Was fr den Gedachten Einsatzzweck ausreichen sollte.
