I've got both the Atom SL Hoody and the Anorak version. It's definitely one of my go-to pieces for a variety of reasons - namely the versatility. With the breathable fleece side panels, it performs surprisingly well in high output activities like trail running or hiking on cooler days. DWR has performed well for me, although I wouldn't want to be caught in the Atom in a full-on rainstorm. The zone insulation in the body is perfect for me - I don't need insulation in the arms until it's really cold, so this works for me down to maybe mid 40s F. With the light weight and packable nature of this guy, no reason not to toss it in the pack on a warmer day to pull out in case temps drop.

My husband gifted me this and I'm glad he did. The Atom SL Hoody does a lot better at keeping me warm while also being breathable when I am hiking than my previous jacket. No getting overheated. It's so cozy I never want to take it off. Even though it's meant for active activities, I like it so much that I'll wear it out to go to the store just to keep me warm. I'm excited to try more activities outside with it.

I needed a nice and simple jacket that I could use for fall and spring, and after a lot of reviews on line, I decided on the Gamma LT Hoody. When I first got it, I was a little surprised by how light and thin it was. But once I put it on, it felt great! The material is a lot tougher than I initially thought, and it fits fairly slim. For reference, I am 6'1", 175lbs and a 32" waist, with a 41.5" chest. The size large fits well on me. The sleeves and the overall length of the jacket are a bit long, but I like this particular cut. The jacket length comes almost covers my back side. I can also comfortably fit a light sweater, fleece or cotton hoody underneath if I wanted to use this during colder days. As some other reviewers noted, there is an inside pocket, but it is fairly small, and you wouldn't be able to fit most modern-sized smartphones in it. The 2 side hand pockets are higher, and they are very deep. So if you happen to forget to zip these pockets, you don't have to worry about your keys or change falling out. There is a nice stretchy feeling to the jacket, which is typical of a soft shell. I plan on wearing this on windy days and if it is slightly raining, I have no concerns. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase!

I bike alot in NYC, you'll go from riding on a hot street, u leave it open, then into the city, where it's shady and cool and all you do is zip it up. Very packable, it offers good breathability, I would wear this in 70-50 degree weather, it's not a windshell, would wear another layer if it is windy.

I've used this hoody as a mid layer under a shell snowboarding; a layering piece while touring & snowshoeing; and as a wind breaker on a spring day biking and I absolutely adore this product. It's breathable, and can handle light precipitation while protecting you from cold/wind. It's so light it's easy to throw in the backpack (or purse- no joke) as a back up for Vancouver's constantly changing weather. I will definitely be purchasing the LT or AR as it would be nice to have an option with insulation in the sleeves as well.

I have quite a few pieces from Arcteryx. Bought this a month ago, never thought another jacket would be worn more than my atom LT. The layering ability is incredible, it's less warm than the LT but is warm enough to keep me happy. Great for shoulder seasons, I wear mine quite fitted and have a small waist, so I went with the small. Because of this it causes it to be tight in the shoulders. I've always bought a small in arcteryx gear, if only the had a SMEDIUM. Oh well still a great piece overall.

Honestly, what can I say! It is a versatile piece of clothing. It offers light warmth but also acts as a good wind breaker. Love it!

The Gamma LT is an exceptional softshell jacket perfectly suited to a wide variety of activities in conditions from fair weather to mild rain with strong wind. I have worn this jacket as an outer layer over my Proton LT for snowboarding and kept dry and comfortable both going downhill and on the lift in temperatures ranging from 20 to 40 degrees. The durable, stretchy face fabric is well-suited to these activities and blocks out the moisture very well. The Gamma LT is also well-equipped to be worn as an outer layer for climbing, particularly thanks to its long sleeves and relatively long cut in the torso. However, I also recognize how this longer cut in the arms could be a nuisance for people not intending to be reaching overhead much with this jacket. I own several softshells made by different brands, but I always reach for this jacket if I know the conditions will demand decent protection without totally sacrificing breathability. I am 6'3" and 180 lbs and a large fits me perfectly when used to layer with a fleece or insulated jacket. I find that the inner fabric isn't particularly uncomfortable against the skin, but I also prefer a slightly thinner, more conforming material and size if wearing this jacket without an insulation layer. As a result, I typically wear this jacket over at least a long-sleeve base layer and tend not to use it as much in warmer weather. Overall, I heartily recommend this jacket and believe that its feature set and lack of insulation make it an incredibly versatile and effective jacket.

I am so happy with this light weight jacket! The right amount of balance between light insulation and wind protection, and so comfortable to wear. Packs down really well so I will defiantly be using it as a travel jacket. I love the color too!

My new favorite layer!! Oh absolutely love my Atom LT but I get pretty toasty in it running or warmer days. I needed something lighter than the Atom but warmer than the Squamish and the Atom SL is perfect. Amazing jacket!

I wish my atom sl hoody has been my go to garnet for a sometime and wish I would last for ever. It will feel with my lifestyle, lightweight never felt heavy and gave me so much comfort I never wanted to take it off. Took it off at school and someone stole it :(. I get another one soon. But amazing item. I won't even consider any other hoodie/jacket to this.

I have three Atom Hoody's and I love the SL for trail running or biking in cooler weather. Packs to nothing in my bike pack, I can tied it around my waist while running. It will shed light rain and still keep my warm.

This is my new favorite jacket. I have the Atom LT jacket, which I also love, but the LT is sometimes a little too much for rigorous activities during a California winter. I've worn this hiking, snowshoeing, xc skiing, and underneath my snowboarding shell. When layered correctly (usually a light base layer or even a t-shirt), it was the perfect weight for keeping me the right temperature. The salesperson actually described this jacket as an LT vest with sleeves. The sleeves are more of a mesh fabric and are not insulated. The side panels are a stretchier fabric which allows for a more fitted look. The one updated feature I really like is that you can tuck away the hood with a little button.

I love this soft shell. I live in Colorado and had this in my pack all last summer and pulled it out often on top of a summit to block out the wind or any time weather came in. It keeps off the snow and light rain. It is so light you wouldn't think it could offer all that protection. I am 5'3" with an hour glass figure. There are some brands that I just can't wear because I have hips. But Arcteryx always fits me.

I love this jacket. I wear it as a wind shirt on backcountry ski days. Its great to wear under another layer against my base layer. I wear it to break the wind while up tracking.

I have used this in spring and fall in Minnesota, when the nights and mornings get nippy while walking the dogs. Have found it to be light, comfortable, does not bind or stick to clothing underneath. Just enough insulation

I have two of these jackets, the anorak and the full zip. It makes a great spring/fall jacket and a great mid layer during the winter months. It also comes in handy during a light rain as it dries so quickly and has the light water resistant hood.

I work at a large American outdoor cooperative, so to say the least, I have accumulated a lot of jackets over the years. Most of them are great, but blend in and get forgotten aboutnot this one! Living in the southeastern United States, I need something that breathes, can keep me warm, and is ready for unpredictable weather. This jacket fits the bill perfectly! It has become my absolute go-to for 3-season backpacking!
