Really nice lightweight multi use shorts. I bought a second pair in a different colour. Slightly large compared to other Arcteryx shorts.

Best shorts for outdoors (hiking / camping / paddling) I've owned. Very comfortable - deep pockets. Zipper pocket (or back pocket) great for cell phone.

Loved these sl much I bought all 3 colors They are so comfortable and if you are a larger person for your size these fit noce and loose, and give plenty of room for those that do heavy squats if you know what I mean.

Great Shorts for everyday wear around Phoenix. When hiking, walking or going casual you need a nice pair of shorts that look great , feel great for every experience you might have in our great city . Come hike our mountains, just bring lots of water if your in-experienced, no kidding, we have people expire all the time because they miscalculated their water intake, but it beautiful

I do not ever write reviews, But in light of some I have seen I felt obliged. This is my first pair of arcteryx shorts. My body type is fairly average I would say, I am very active, 5'11'' and 180-185 lbs usually (sometimes a few more in the winter). I first noticed the comfortable fit around the waist when putting these on. The waist band fit my waist perfectly and as I seated to a squat position I noticed the fabric ergonomically fitting and stretching as my body sunk and knees bent. I noticed that the bottom of the shorts rode up to just above the knee when my knees were fully bent, Just where I like it. As I stood back up, I put my hands into the front pockets and felt them curve back towards the back side of my legs the further my hands went into the pockets. It was at this time I pictured my car keys and anything else I kept in my pocket staying put as I sat wherever I needed to! Not fearful that they would fall out if not constantly padded by my hand. A quick pad down of the back pockets revealed buttons, cool, I thought but I don't use them much anyway. I small stash pocket lower left near my knee, might be a good location for ID or a credit card, and it secures with a zipper...... Over all I love them. I will def buy another set in the near future.

I don't write a whole lot of reviews, but when I came here looking at other color options for this short, I was a little surprised to see the negative reviews. I actually love this pair of shorts and just picked up another pair in black. They're super light, dry fast and have great range of motion. I've even had a couple of compliments on them recently. I'll vouch for the awkward side pocket, it's definitely form over function, but my phone fits in there okay if it needs to. Don't overlook these based on the other reviews. Try them on and see what you think.

Bought these shorts for the the spring and summer when I'm out hiking and fishing. They are light weight and fit perfectly. The construction is top notch and zippers are smooth. The back pockets button shut so you don't lose anything valuable. They do fit a little short in lenght but I can see why they provide a range of motion that can't be matched. I recommend these for anyone who is active and looking for a lightweight short.

Shorts are a must have. Liked them so much I got another colour. They can be work with a shirt for a nice summer hike or also fitted with a polo for a nice summer lunch on a patio. My only changes would be to make the inseam a slight bit longer. Half an inch would be perfect. Front pockets are slightly too deep. Can be tricky to get things in certain positions when using for active wear. I would like to see a slightly shorter pocket and then add hidden zippers for security.

Fazit: Top.

Great shorts in fit, fabric and function, but could use refinement in front zip pocket and deeper back pockets. A couple more light shades of material would be awesome.

Having reviewed the Grifter shorts last year and not all that pleased with its limited pockets, I was excited to get the new Stowe shorts which have, count them, 5 pockets! So that's the good news. The not so good news is that the pockets have a few issues. First off, the rear ones are shaped funky, which is fine I guess although I prefer my wallet to not point out in some weird direction. The second more important flaw is that the pockets are not very deep. My wallet just fits in the rear pocket but sticks out like a sore thumb. The rear pockets do have snap closures but you probably won't use them if you have something in the pockets as it makes it too tight. The front hand pockets are also not too deep. The best part of the pocket story is the zippered cell phone pocket which is nice and stealth. Everything else with these shorts is top-notch Arcteryx quality. The material is a bit lighter than the Grifter shorts and as others have pointed out, they are a bit shorter as well although not much (I'm 5'8" and the 32 comes down to the middle of my knee). I also found them to be a tad tighter around the waist for same size 32 as others. Fortunately, the material has some elasticity to it to provide a bit more comfort. I really love the gunmetal color. Anyways, I'll look forward to see if Arcteryx finally fires their pocket designer for the 2016 season and blows me away with the perfect pair of shorts.

I'm a fan of A/T products, including their pants. However, there is a discrepancy between pants (long legs) and shorts (short legs) that annoys me: The Stowe Short is very much the same as the Stowe pant - good fit, fashionable, etc. But, it's missing a pocket. The pants have six pockets while the shorts have five. Who at A/T thinks the need for pockets diminishes when the pant leg is shorter? What's the logic in this? Why do you do it? I've encountered this with other A/T shorts too. Very disappointing.

I love these shorts, it's really difficult to find something that you can wear around town without look too much like an oblivious outdoor enthusiast, but is also totally suited to a long day out in the mountains. I purchased the navy blue version of this short, which I notice is no longer being offered, I suspect it's because the dye faded instantly on contact with sun. I spent a single day out hiking, and my shorts had taken on a Zebra stripe pattern of sun fading, making them unwearable anywhere other than on the trail. Fit and function is unparalleled, however they dye, at least the navy blue dye, is abysmal.

These shorts look great and have tech fibers. That being said they are advertised as a trim fit so I ordered 34 instead of 33. I will need to get them altered or send them back to make them a functional addition to my short inventory.

Cool shorts. Living in a very humid climate the material doesn't breath as well. These Arc shorts are tight in the crotch so beware.
