Brooks is disappointing me. Their shoes have been getting narrower and narrower over the past few years. I put on my thinnest socks to try these on and could barely get into them. So much pressure all over my feet (except the length which seems true to size). I had a pair of the Cadences a few years ago--2's or 3's, and they were wonderful. The quality seems great, but I just can't wear them comfortably. They are going back for a refund.

I love these shoes! They are my first pair of Brooks and I'm hooked. The arch support is great and they hug my feet perfectly. The heel is super comfortable and takes any pressure off of my heels. I will definitely be buying more soon!

These shoes are absolutely nothing like Cadence 4. I had to order a half size up and the fit was completely different. I'm going to find the PureCadence4.

The tongue is very thin and stiff which contributes to a very low profile shoe. The sneaker is a beautiful color (bright blue) and true to size.

Really cushy, cute, smooth, non-irritating innards. For some reason, I felt a pinch on the bottom of my foot - the ball of my foot when I walked. Just an off fit for my slightly wide foot

These are some of the most comfortable running shoes I've ever purchased. I don't run anymore, but I wear them at work all day and my feet thank me. I also walk several miles a week in them. I've tried several brands after my old favorite brand, Newtons, started bothering my forefoot. I have very flat feet and they feel great in these; they will also accommodate my custom orthotics if you take the insole out.
I'd also recommend:
Keen, Merrell, Clarks, Born, Cobb Hill,

I was looking for an all black running shoe which is hard to find, but I actually really like the colors of this one. This shoe fits well with my orthotic (over pronation) and my toe separator. I sometimes try other brands but always seem to come back to brooks. I also always order a half size up.

I read prior reviews and ordered a size up. Perfect fit. No width issues for me. Immediately comfortable.

I love the fact that the sole of these shoes aren't white. I normally wear a 7.5 in regular shoes. I ordered the 7.5 and they were too small. I ordered the 8 and they are perfect. I walk and jog in these shoes and they are great!

I don't think these run as big as the older version of this same shoe. I wear a 7 and have an 8 1/2 in the old version but had to do a size 8 in these (and I still have room between my toe and the end of the shoe). I do have a narrow foot and this is a good show that adjusts to narrow feet. Overall it has great support and flexibility.

I saw that these ran small... but I am normally between a 9.5 and 10 so I thought I would be fine with a ten. I was wrong. I should have ordered a 10.5 or 11. They are really nice shoes just not true to size.

Full disclosure, I have not taken these shoes out for a serious run yet, but I am really impressed with their fit from my test runs around the house. They ARE snug, as others have mentioned, but I don't think they're as drastically narrow as some people are claiming. I have a narrow heel, so this is great for me, but what I really love is the way they hug around my instep. Great stability for my slight pronation, an good fit all the way around. The toe box is also slim, but again, not uncomfortably so. I tried a pair of Mizuno's and their toe box was more roomy, but I prefer less horizontal wiggle room. I went up a half-size from my normal street shoe, as recommended for running shoes, and had plenty of big-toe space. They are not heavy or bulky, so they feel good and look good. Doesn't hurt that they're my favourite colour, either. Happy customer here! Can't wait to start running with these puppies!

Sizing seems small. I've worn these for years. Arthritis in one foot increased my size. I bought a size bigger. I like the shoes, so I'm going to try another 1/2 size up. It seems narrow, that's a plus for me!

I love the Purecadence 5! I must admit that I was worried that I would not like them as much as the 4 and bought a pair of those as well! I love these sneakers (except generations 2 and 3 where I had to go with the Pureflow series instead). Due to a failed Morton's Nueroma surgery, I need a super cushiony footbed with a low rise and these fit the bill. I just don't lace the very bottom holes to make the footbed wider in one foot. These are about the only sneakers that I can still run in. The cool black color is a bonus!

I have been wearing these shoes to run in for the past two weeks. They were feeling great until the fabric on the inside pulled away by my big toe. The fabric bunched up and is causing a blister on my left big toe. I would like to exchange them for another pair.

I really liked the style of the shoe. But after day of walking around home with them they made the top of my feet sore. But they returned them without a problem!

The shoes are light weight and provide great support. They feel a little narrower than size. Last week on a business trip I forgot to pack workout socks. I put the shoes on without socks and wished I hadn't. After a 3 mile run, I had 4 blisters on the tops of my feet from the material of the tongue of the shoe. I'll never make that mistake again.

Toe box is too narrow, and shoe is a bit too stiff. Unless you have narrow feet I would not recommend them. Previous model 4 was slightly better.

These felt 1/2 size larger than marked (ordered size 9). While I liked the color, the white tread make them look even larger than they are on my feet. I ordered these with the PureFlow 5's to try both and I am returning both. Comfort is not the same as prior series and these did not feel as cushiony as ones I've had in the past. I've always liked Brooks PureFlow and Cadence series for being lightweight, minimalist but with good cushion support, comfortable and good stability for weight training and HIIT workouts. These did not pass the test, unfortunately, and are going back. Brooks missed the mark with these. I ended up going with Asics Gel Venture 5 that I found locally at a price that was lower than Zappos (sorry!). They are not as lightweight as the Brooks and it's a trail runner, but comfortable and accommodating for bunions, stylish, and work fine for my workouts. Zappos, your service is great, as always!

Narrow shoe. If you have bunions, this is not the shoe for you!

I really wanted to love these shoes. I have always worn Asics and wanted to try out Brooks. I loved the look of this shoe but they are sadly not made for running very long distances. After the first few runs in them my knees and back were in a lot of pain. I attributed that to them being new so I kept them. However, it is months later and I have never had a comfortable run in them. I wish I had returned them and gotten a pair of Asics instead. I love how they look and I like to wear them on walks or to the gym, just not running. I have a narrow foot and a high arch so I did appreciate the overall fit of the shoe. Sadly, I think this is the first and last pair of Brooks I will ever buy.

Like other reviewers, I agree that this is narrower than the 4, both the width and height. My toes hit the right side of the shoe and my big toe bumped against the top of the shoe. I'll try ordering a half size larger, but in the meantime I ordered the 4, which fit much better (and is currently on sale on a number of websites). The 3 fit narrower than other models of this shoes and the 5 seems to be similar. On the plus side, Brooks eliminated the weird band across the top of the shoe in this model.

Loved the soft feel of the sole, but the tightness around my toes made my right foot fall asleep about half way through my first run. I am sending back due to rubbing on one heel so bad that I couldn't finish half of the run and went back to my trusty Nike's. Sorry, Brooks, but these didn't live up to the hype of the Brooks name.

I feel like the PureCadence quality has decreased. This shoe didn't feel as sturdy as previous pairs I've bought. Also, the toe box is too narrow for my foot (bunion, high arch, and a hammer toe). I even ordered up a half size and still too narrow. Wanted to love them but have to return.

AWFUL: I love Brooks and have 4 pairs of previous Pure Cadence shoes. These are terrible! WARNING: Not only a narrow toe box, but the back of the shoe comes up much higher on the foot, and in my case resulted in bloody cuts forming on the back of my achilles after using these to walk the dog. Couldn't return as bled on the back of the shoes.
