I have worn Gel Nimbus 16 and Gel Nimbus 17, so I expected a comparable shoe. What a huge disappointment! I seems while the outside appearance has not changed, the entire inner structure of the shoe has. The rear support at the heel/achilles definitely comes up ½" higher at the back. There seems to be less arch support. Most noticeably, the level of cushioning in the sole has been reduced. When you put on a pair of 17s, you instantly feel the cushioning at the ball of the foot. That is gone. It feels hard. I ordered these in my usual "B" width. The shoe felt narrower. If I were exchanging them, I would get a "D" width. I have returned them and will order a close-out pair of Gel Nimbus 17s, while I can still get them.

I really like these sneakers. I've seen reviews on various websites giving them an average of about 3 stars, but for me they are a 5 star sneaker. I've been running in Asics for years, starting with the Gel Nimbus 11. I like Asics because of their support, but most importantly because of their cushioning. My favorite model was the Gel Nimbus 13. They were the most cushioned of all the models and I felt like I was walking on a cloud (hence the name Nimbus!). For some reason the models produced since the Gel Nimbus 13 have not felt as cushioned. However, these eventually become more cushioned as you wear them. The sole almost conforms to your foot after awhile, like memory foam. I just purchased my second pair since I'm training for a half marathon, and I wanted a second pair to alternate training in. I've had my previous pair (also Gel Nimbus 18 in black/carbon) since Oct 2015, and they are still very comfortable (even more so from when I first purchased them). They did not feel very cushioned when I first received them but they feel incredibly cushioned now. My new pair, which I received yesterday, do not feel as cushioned as my broken in pair, but I know they will eventually break in. I find them not only comfortable for running, but for just walking around as well. And I love that I finally have a pair of running shoes that are black - not fluorescent, or pink, or purple, or aqua, or some other loud color that so many other women's sneakers are made in. I wear neutral colors most of the time and I like the fact I can throw these on with a pair of jeans and not feel like my sneakers are an eyesore. For anyone looking for a running shoe with cushion, I would give these a try. My suggestion is to be patient. I nearly returned them the first time, because like other reviewers, I did not find them to be cushioned at all. But I promise, they break in beautifully - and this is from someone who is obsessed with cushioning in a running sneaker. I recommend buying a half size up with Asics. I'm a 9.5 Medium in all other shoes, but in Asics I've always worn a 10 Medium. My husband, son and father also wear this sneaker, and they too had to purchase a half size up.

I have worn asics gel nimbus/gel cumulus for many years. Last time I ordered them they were to narrow. Thought I would give them a try again. Once again they are to narrow. Have gone back to new balance. Why did you mess with a good thing asics?

Unlike some of the reviews I read, I actually like the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 18 better than the 17. The fit is perfect for me, as is the arch, support, and especially the cushioning. I feel like I'm walking on clouds! I have had surgery on both feet and often have pain when I walk. With these shoes, I can walk for miles and barely notice any discomfort. My only complaint is this: I prefer these shoes in a wide width and would like to order them in the black/silver/carbon color, but they are not available. I realize that in this width, choices are limited, but one would think the black would be a common option for any size. Some of the other colors are a tad too wild for my taste. I walk a lot at work and would like the simple black shoe that would be less noticeable with whatever outfit I am wearing on a given day.

I am training for a half marathon and need a shoe with support but lots of cushion. I've always been an Asics fan and have owned GT-2000 and Cumulus models most recently. I decided to try Brooks based upon a salesperson's recommendation but I found them to be of lower quality and less comfortable on impact. This is my first pair of Nimbus and it won't be my last. I'm sorry I ever strayed. They really are like running on clouds!

I like these. I have been wearing Kayano's but their toe box is creating issues for me wanting to buy them anymore. I ordered these one size up like others stated and they are very comfortable. I'll be interested in seeing what the cushion feels like after wearing them a couple months. I wear them for high intensity classes and normal gym cardio machines.

These shoes never disappoint! I've had the Gel-Nimbus 16,17 and now 18 and will keep buying them. Fit snug at my skinny ankles and have just the right amount of cushion for running.

After seeing the doctor about my foot. He suggest I buy these, I ordered them. They arrived the next day. Put them on and wow! My foot felt better already! I could walk better. Look forward to getting outside with these shoes and getting back into walking and running. I ordered the medium width. They were perfect for me feet.

I have a pair of nimbus 17 that I love. I bought these because the pattern was so much fun. The 18 isn't as nice as a the 17. The overall padding doesn't feel as cloud like at first as in the previous integration but once you wear them for a while it conforms to your foot. The carbon/black/cockatoo pattern is so awesome. The shoe works well running or walking. It is true to size. My major negative is that the toe bed at the front of the shoe, has such a low ceiling that it rubs my big toe.

Replacing an old pair of Asics with this model. As other reviewers have noted, this sneaker's wide sizing is NOT consistent with older styles. Don't waste your time ordering.

My first ASICS were the Gel Nimbus 16 and I LOVED LOVED LOVED them! It was like walking on clouds. After reading reviews, I looked everywhere online for another pair of 16 but had to settle on the 18. I am not thrilled. This shoe runs a full size smaller. Also, I had to get these in Wide for more room, however, it still feels a bit narrow. The cushioning also doesn't feel like I'm walking on clouds. PS I would not pay full price for these, and reading reviews for the 19, I wouldn't pay full price for ASICS going forward. I would be nice if ASICS would just use the same 16 model with different color combinations. Why mess up a good product. Thank goodness for Zappos tho. Excellent customer service!

The top of the heel area came up too far on my leg really rubbing and irritating my skin. The sneaker seemed to be cushiony enough though. I am returning them for a pair of Asics that are lower in the back.

This is my first purchase in the nimbus line after my podiatrist recommended Asics. Love the support for my high arches and the cushion in the heel helps the knees. I must say they do run small. I am normally between a 7.5 and an 8 depending on the shoe...and the 8s were too short for me. Ordered the 8.5s and they fit beautifully. Others mentioned the higher back on these but that feels fine to ke...no issues. My tendonitis in me feet is much better after a few days in these.

My wife is a neutral runner with a medium arch & STARTED having some pain in her foot, especially in the Plantar Fascia. She was running with Saucony Ride 8. The Saucony's maybe had a 100 miles on them total when her feet started bothering her. I purchased her a pair of the Gel-Nimbus 18 because of it's high toe to heel offset & she loved it. She loved the turquoise color base & greet laces. She loved the cushion in them. The arch support was perfect for her. She started running with these and has not had any more pain in her foot. She has been running on these for the last couple weeks, put on about 50 miles total. She will probably stick with this shoe for quite some time to come.

I have worn the Gel Nimbus shoe for over three years. This change in manufacturer has brought some changes. The shoes do not feel as cushiony when you first put them on. They do soon begin to have a good cushion feeling. These shoes now run very narrow. For the first time in my life I had to go from a narrow to a medium. The medium does not slide around on my extremely narrow heels.

I have been an Asics Gel fan and purchaser for years. I recently thought that I could get by with cheaper Asics shoes. I gave those to my daughter and bought the Asics Gel-Nimbus 18. These shoes are like walking/running on marshmallows. I have a lot of issues from years of abuse of my feet. I would recommend these to anyone - runner or walker. They are kind to your feet!

I'm a size ten but had to order up 1/2 a size. And to fit my wife front of foot I ordered it in wide Disappointed that all Asics styles and colors don't come in wide. These are the most cushiony running shoes out there and I tried about twenty different pairs. Also were recommended by my outstanding physical therapist since foot issues can and will play out in your back and knees. These are the best.

I wear a 10 wide in all my athletic shoes, but this shoe fits very small. I am returning it and ordering another half-size up. Hope it fits; otherwise it felt comfortable.

I think that ASICS has a real quality control problem. In the past, their shoes ran a bit small, so I would order a half size up, but the last two models I've tried are a good whole size too small!

These ASICS ran very small and snug I was not able to get a sock on with them. I have been a true size 10 for many years now and the ASICS I have been wearing fit fine. Very surprised that the same model and same size do not fit at all.

Wondering what happened to the sizing of these shoes. I usually wear 8.5 in their shoes, ordered a 9.5 due to comments, and 9.5 is too tight!

I love this color, the cushioning was superb and unlike a few reviewers I like the high ankle cushioning. However, the toes and instep were so narrow that I could not believe this was a wide width. I have wide toes and narrow heels due to 10 years of barefoot karate, and these shoes actually hurt my toes. I could not keep them on for even 30 minutes. Asics, you need to rethink the design of these. But keep the beautiful colors and cushioning!

Everything was as expected. Color was a bit over the top, but I'll get used to it. I ordered two shoes to try, but accidentally ordered one in a Men's size. It fit my husband, so we kept both. His fit and style was just right as well.
