This is a review from just putting these on for the first time, so I may come back and review them after we've gotten to know each-other. But here's what I wanted to know first, and I bet some of you want to know the same thing. Does that panel open out and make these work for us wide-calf girls? Yes, my friend. Yes it does. My calf is not huge, but bigger around than most tall boots, so I tend to go for lace-ups. If I loosen these up to fit me, the laces stop at about 3 loops from the top, but that panel opens up to plenty of space for a meaty calf muscle, and it can tighten down to fit someone with skinny calves as well. So I may get longer laces, or I may leave it like this, because it actually kind of showcases the great texture on that dark brown leather behind the laces. These are gorgeous. I have been looking for a good brown tall lace up that will last me two decades or so. I really think these will. They are very well made, in Mexico. The smell is intoxicating. I will have my cobbler put a vibram sole on the bottom, because it is unprotected leather, and I want them to last. Yes, these are expensive. Unless you factor in that you won't need to buy another pair for a long, long time. And they are going to go with everything you might wear a black or a brown boot with. There are so many rich gorgeous browns in this thing, and the dark brown could pass for black in that lace panel on the pair I got. Oh. And I'm an 8.5-9 with a wider-than-normal but narrower-than-wide toe area, and the 9s fit me great. Yum! So glad I got these!

I have wide calves and thought the laces would give a little extra room, but doing so really changed the look to not very good. My calves are 16-17 inches around. Just preference - will return unfortunately.

Beautiful boot. I have really skinny legs and the laces allow me to adjust them so they fit perfect. They were comfortable the first time I wore them.

I love this boot!! Just walked many miles in NYC in these and got soooo many compliments! I love the fact that they are like a corset. You can loosen or tighten. Sexy! Even a compliment from a guy in EWR!!

Cutest boots ever, compliments everytime I wear them. Too tight on calf, just lossen laces. They zip on inside. Modest heal. Very comfy and beautiful color so very versitile

I'll start off by saying These Boots were love at first sight for me!!! I had to have them. I read lots of reviews before I bought them especially since they do not come in half-sizes. I am a 7.5 so I opted to go higher up and ordered the size 8. I got them and the boots felt like they were just a lil bit too big. So before I sent them back and lose them altogether, I order a size 7. The size 7 fitted much better however, I have to take them to the shoe cobbler to have them stretch just a tad bit across my instep. I do not mind spending the few extra dollars to have them stretched across the instep because they are boots that will get lots and lots of mileage out of me. The first day I wore them out shopping I got compliments from 3 ladies, on separate instances. I cannot wait to wear them with dresses and skirts. I wore them with fitted jeans tucked in and they were Rocking big time. Get them, quick!

Beautiful boot - lacing allows a lot of shaping for calves - in my case, I was able to tie them tighter for my skinny calves - but I can also see how they could be loosened a lot for wider calves too. Beautiful quality, love boots made in Mexico - they really know how to make them well.

So these boots are absolutely gorgeous! There are so many different rich colors. The inside panel is a soft leather, very dark brown. At first I was unsure how to "tuck" it in sides with the laces. If you order these, you'll see what I mean. A lil tight squeeze when zipping the boots up, and loosening the laces does help somewhat, but not at much as what you'd think. Despite that, I found them comfortable and I was able to zip and wear without feeling too tight. Moderate heel. They were slightly uncomfortable after walking for long distances non-stop at first, but that subsided after wearing a few times and breaking in. They are "straight" at the ankle, and don't conform even with lace tightening. So as one reviewer mentioned, they might make your ankles look wide. It's not a big deal for me, but I can see where some may not like it. These are definitely a keeper and will last for years with a proper care! Just for comparison, I ordered a size 8, I'm 5'3", 125#. Calves 13.5".

I am absolutely in love with these boots, however, unfortunately, I had to give them fewer than 5 stars because they didn't fit! not the calf, but the actual shoe part. I'm heartbroken to have to return them! I ordered a size 10, when I'm normally a 9.5, but even then they were too small. I wanted to exchange for an 11, but they're out of stock and not planning on getting anymore! :(

If only these looked good on big calves? They are beautiful in person and on supper skinny calves. Wish they were keepers...

I so wanted to love these boots and believe me, they ARE beautiful when you first open the box and take them in. Stunning in fact. But what I did not like about them is that the ankle area made me look like I have "cankles". They just go straight up and down, no shaping. My legs looked like stove pipes in these very expensive boots, and I have thin, long legs. If it weren't for that, I would have kept them. I have a rule though about shoes or anything I buy that costs me more than $50. I have to love it to keep it. For $ 365 with tax, there's no way I'd keep boots that give me stove pipe calves. I tried to tighten the laces in the ankle area but that wouldn't work. It's just how the boots are made. But, if you don't care about that look, here are the other details: They feel a half a size small so size up. Even with the laces loose I had trouble getting them zipped with skinny jeans on. My calves are thin, about 13 inches around. Without jeans, they fit fine. The leather is gorgeous. The color is beautiful. Great heel height if you want a little bit of heel but not high. Easy to get on and off because of the side zippers. Look gorgeous from the side. But not head on or from behind because of the blocky Fred Flintstone ankle issue.

I ordered a size up after reading the reviews. Good thing, too. However, I should have believed the comments on how tight the calf area was. I have thin calves. But, I couldn't zip them all the way up. Too bad, because these boots are beautiful. Would have given 5 stars if the calf would have fit.

I was disappointed in these boots. The printed leather inside the laces looks like a piece of material. Not leather. They run extremely small. I wear a 6½ or 7 in most shoes. I ordered a 7 and I cannot get my feet into the shoes. As far a zipping them, I would have to loosen the laces a lot in order to zip them. I do not have wide calfs. I have never had a problem zipping up my boots. I am very disappointed. I wanted to love these boots. But they are going back.

Wow these boots are WAY too tight on the calf for me to even zip them up -- with not even jeans tucked in. And I am not heavy, just a size 6, 5'8" girl.
