So, my best size is 8.5WW, but I can often wear 9W instead. These boots fit me great in size 10-10.5W, with medium-thin socks, and plenty of room in the toe box. I've probably got a full 1/2 inch from the tip of my big toe to the edge of the shoe, which is great! I tried these boots on in the next size down, and my big toe was pressed to the edge.
Despite being roomy, they don't feel too big. The heel is comfortable, and the laces can be tightened to make them as snug as you'd like around the ankle. The leather is very soft and flexible, but also substantial. These boots have some weight to them.
For further fit reference, I often have trouble with wide shoes made for "chubby" feet. The straps are often too high off my foot, or the heel is too loose. Naturalizer WW were the best fitting shoes on me before they apparently stopped making them. If your wide feet are like mine, don't be afraid to size up a few times for a perfect fit. I've tried on a LOT of boots lately, and these are definitely among the very nicest.
I'd also recommend:

Absolutely love these boots! Super comfortable, great color, awesome funky style. Regular width is not too narrow for my wider-than-normal feet. Recommend 1000%!

The European sizes don’t work for me. LOVE these boots. Sad to need to return. It was easy and great customer service.

These boots are really cute! I was looking forward to loving these boots, however they didn’t fit. Had they been a half size larger they would’ve been my new favorite boots.

I usually buy size 39, but the sizing was a little different; 39, usually (in my experience) 8 1/2 - 9, was 8 - 8 1/2 which I thought would be a little small for me. I got a size 40, 9-9 1/2 which is perfect. The color is a little dark for teal, but gorgeous just the same. Soles have great “gription” as we say up here.
Awesome comfort right out of the box. Room for a 3/4 length orthotic I always wear. Now I want more colors.

Love these_ as cute and comfy as predicted! They run small, order up a size. I’m a solid 8, and needed the 9 size for good fit. Love them!

these are those boots. i've been looking for "the boots" for a long time now, closest being a pair of Levi boots i wore to the ground. i will buy new ones of these when i need them, there is no need for any other boot. these boots are perfect.

I love love this Crave boot by Taos. This is my second pair. My first pair wore like iron and is still in great condition- better than new really since it mellowed to my foot. However when my bunions and foot changed in size I had to go up a half size. New ones are great fit. I wear them with skirts and pants and jeans. For travel they are my one pair for everything! I have the gray which is just the perfect neutral color -its a mellow gray brown in my pair and goes beautifully with black and navy and everything! I get tons of compliments and I pad the inside with gel shoe inserts to custom fit my bunions. Thanks Zappos for size and color choices in this epic boot

I admit I love Taos boots, I have several pairs of short booties but was always afraid to order the Crave as I have very large calves and legs and cannot find boots to fit. But I kept eyeing the Crave in Bordeaux and decided to take a chance, figuring I could easily return. Got them today and was shocked that they fit right out of the box, even laced all the way up. Gorgeous. Love Taos as they are extremely comfortable straight away, there is never a breaking i period. Wish I was rich I would order in every color, but the Bordeaux is a very versatile color, quite dark burgundy that is actually quite neutral. I wear a 9-1/2 to 10 and the 41 is perfect. I have a wideish foot but usually can wear a regular width and these fit great. The heel is a little loose but thicker socks will cure that. Larger calf ladies buy these! Even if you needed to leave the top two eyelets untied these are darling. BTW I am 60 and still want to look fashionable. The will look great with jeans or leggings. I love them!

Like others have said, this is kindof a perfect boot. Stylish but comfortable, edgy but feminine. I did not find the toe box to be tight like others, and I found it true to size (I'm a 9 and got a 40.) The teal is more green in sunlight and then a beautiful bluish in lowlight. Pretty awesome. I'm happy with the purchase and as my second pair of Taos Footwear shoes, they've proven to be a solid company.

I was so hopeful for these boots, and my hopes turned to reality once I got these boots. I had 3 foot surgeries in the last 2 years, and have been trying to replace my super pointy toed shoe wardrobe with rounder toes. These not only look super stylish, but they are very comfortable. I am so happy that I bought these! I bought them in the Ink Blue color, which is a dark blue, but look blue, not black (like many "dark blue" or navy leather things do). I plan to buy them in the camel or brown color too!

These fit great right out of the box — no need to break them in. These feel sturdy and warm without being too heavy. I got them in the blue ink color, which is navy with brown laces. The side zipper makes them easy to get on and off.

I love these boots so much I have three pair: Teal, Bordeaux, and Red. They are THE most comfortable boot I've ever owned. Very little break in time. They fit true to size (I wear an 8-8.5 and get a 39). The zipper is very easy to use - love being able to slide in and out of them. The colors are wonderful. I think the Teal goes with almost anything. I've worn them with jeans, straight-legged pants as well as skirts and dresses. I wear them pretty much three seasons out of four, although I have worn them in early/late summer. I wait till they go on sale at Taos or buy them here at Zappos. Oh, and, I always, always, always get compliments. Always. Enjoy them.

These shoes are beyond comfortable and cute. I have very wide feet and have a difficult time finding shoes that fit without having to stretch them. These were comfortable instantly. I normally wear 9.5 (10 for extra width) and I got the 10 and still have room for thick socks. They are extremely well made and also very stylish and on trend with the combat boot style while being a little more feminine - I bought the burgundy (and sophisticated/not-trendy feeling). Highly recommend (I normally don’t spend that much on shoes, but these are worth it!).

I own 5 pair of these gems! They remind me of "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" as my mom has 3A feet, mine are narrow to D, and my daughter wears a wide shoe. Mom has extremely thin legs, mine are chunky and my daughter wears wide calf boots. Yet, we all own and love these boots!!! I wear a 9.5 and wear a 40 in Crave. They lace for fit and zip on and off for ease. I'm a science teacher and am on my feet all day and I wear my boots pretty much all winter long. I wear tugged with skinny jeans, capris, even fishnet hosiery and a pencil skirt. I absolutely love them. And because of the zipper, I'm able to get them on quickly in the morning as I'm running out the door. I am able to remove the footed and add my own orthotic, if needed, but I haven't needed to and I have been wearing these for 2 years now. The real is more green, the red is a burnished red, ink is dark navy, Bordeaux is a wine/brown, not as people as I would have liked, black tall's are...black and the tall taupe is a really nice neutral that isn't black, as I tend to get in the rut of black.
The leather is nice and soft other than at the toe box. This toebox has protected my toes more than once, but really, I wear these boots for style and comfort.

I bought these stylish & great fitting Taos Crave boots during the summer. Since I work long hours on my feet in a non-air conditioned machine shop, I had to wait for cooler weather to wear them. These boots are genuine leather and keep feet comfortably warm—so wearing theses in 80-90 degree temperatures is just too hot for my comfort. I normally wear a size 8 1/2 medium width shoe, and read all reviews before ordering a size 40 which was recommended as a proper fit for my size. The boots arrived the next day and were packaged beautifully in a chic Taos box, plus the boots looked amazing in Ink Blue—perfect with jeans—and a midnight blue shade that almost looks black. Chocolate brown laces, stitching & matching heels were a great complimentary contrast to the Ink Blue leather. Boots slipped on effortlessly with magnificent cozy comfort. Side zippers allow easy on & off without ever having to untie the laces! Excellent choice for busy ladies who are on their feet all day, and those who love hiking or long walks. Absolutely adore these boots and can’t wait to order them in other great colors.

Love these boots! I think the advertisers used to work for the CIA because after I looked at them once, they seemed to follow me around everywhere I went online saying "buy us, buy us"...
Anyway, after looking at them 100 times online I finally decided to take the plunge and buy them even though they are kinda pricey.
I usually wear an 8.5 shoe and go up to 9 in boots so I got size 40 and they are a perfect fit. (Actually, I ordered the wrong size and had to return them and get the right size, but customer service was great and well, there's no need to dwell on my late night ordering stupid mistake).
The boots are as gorgeous as they look online. I bought the grey. I was debating between the grey and the burgundy (and the teal and the brown...), but thought the grey would go with more of my clothes. The grey is grey but they also look dark brown, which is really what I wanted so I love the color.
And they are SO comfortable! I have flat feet and am prone to plantar fasciitis so most shoes (except Dansko clogs) hurt my feet. These did not hurt at all, not one bit. And they look one heck of a lot more stylin' than clogs!
Now I'm just trying to figure out how I can get away with wearing them to work every single day...

I haven't loved a pair of boots so much since my beloved steel toed Doc Martens from high school. These are solid, comfy, well made - everything a gal could ask for in a combat boot. I am between an 8.5/9 and the 40 fits perfect. I think these will be well worth the money.

I have wide duck feet and painful bunions from years of working on my feet in the service industry, so I was dubious as to how well these narrow looking boots would fit/feel. Well- from the moment I tried them on I was in love. I have never owned a pair of boots that were comfortable from the get go, usually I have to have them stretched for width or go through a painful break in process. But these boots are perfect- I was amazed to find the leather structure doesn't rub on my bunions, and the footbed is divine- like a gentle hug on your feet with excellent arch support (exactly why I love Taos to begin with.) I wore these bad boys out of the shop and went out for a Saturday Night, walking all over town, for about 8 hours. I noticed immediate improvements to my posture and relief of knee/ankle pain from a sprain I incurred two weeks ago. The next day my feet felt great. The style is a bit clunky/combat booty - reminiscent of my teen years spent wearing Doc Marten shit kickers. So basically the 15 year old punk rocker in me is all about the look of these. I got them in bordeaux and the color is just beautiful- a rich, deep aubergine, neutral enough to go with my black, blue denim and grey jeans. Like the Doc Martens and John Fluevogs of my youth, these boots are going to be my babies. I am glancing at them lovingly from across the room while writing this, thinking about all the adventures we're going to go on.

These boots are outstanding in every way! They were comfy straight off the bat! As an active tourist, I walked the streets of London and Oxford in these. Perfect. Water protection, great footbed, super attractive. I like the laces, which allows for my wide-ish foot and going from tights to light wool socks. Great colors. I've many compliments on them, even from strangers. I'll buy another pair in a different color.

Beautiful boots, but they run incredibly small. I wear a size 11 or EU43 in most boots, including the Rockports and Borns that I ordered at the same time as these. Not only does Taos consider an EU43 a size 12 (it's NOT), even the size 12 was far too short in the toe. Too bad, because they are very cute!

I am an 8.5 the recommended the 40. A bit big. Not sure if I should keep. The Boudreaux color is really pretty. But I’d like to submit a pic. I think they are used or defective and the laces are not long enough. And they are pulled tight.

Beautiful boots!!! I felt sure they would fit like a glove like my other Taos shoes. The only problem I had initially was that I could not decide which color to order. Therefore, I ordered the blue ink and the grey. After looking at the two, I decided that the grey would be more compatible with my wardrobe. When I tried them on, I was very disappointed. The forefoot was comfortable, giving enough toe wiggle room, but the mid-foot and heel were too wide. I could not lace them tight enough to fit around the mid-foot and prevent heel slippage. I could have used much thicker socks, but that would have compromised the fit of the toe box. Since I have a Morton's neuroma and a bunion, that was not an option. Sadly, I had to send them back. On a positive note, Zappos customer service takes a backseat to no one. You guys are GREAT!
