This is my first Oboz purchase, honestly I had never heard this brand before until I went to a store to try on Keen and a sales person also brought these shoes. I need wide toe box which Keen worked great but the Keen also had wider heel area so my heels keep coming out. I sized down, tried to tie the lace differently but that did not work. Oboz on the other hand, worked perfectly! Wide enough toe box, narrower heel area so my heels stay comfortably! Another thing I want to mention is this has excellent arch support unlike any other hiking shoes. I do not need to put my insole. I absolutely love these shoes! Everyday walk, hike, even to work on rainy day, this pair makes my feel super happy! Of course I want to thank Zappos for an outstanding service as usual!

Hiking shoes are almost as bad as trying on jeans, but worse because you need to wear them around a while to know if they really fit. To add to the problem, I find that stores are not carrying a very big inventory so you may find a style you like but they don't have your size, or they only have a couple of brands to try. I wanted to buy from a store where I could actually have them on my feet but after 3 visits to 3 different stores, I was very frustrated. My husband bought a pair of Oboz and loved them immediately. He talked about them for days so I decided to try them. I wanted a hiking shoe with all the support of my hiking boots but a less boot look. I like to wear on the airplane when flying to hike to keep my packing light and the boots, well they looked like boots! These are handsome and the ONLY thing I would like is maybe not possible - a hiking shoe with the brawn these have with a slightly "lighter" look. But the most important thing is comfort and these excel. I need a wider toe box and these accommodated my foot perfectly. I tried on the size smaller in the store and they felt funny, not really small, but the bottom of my foot was not hitting the curves correctly. The next size up and the same size as my boots in another brand fixed that issue. I have not worn these for days and they feel the same and perfect. The bottoms are substantial, the ankle support feels great for a shoe, and the shoe addresses my tendency to overpronate.

My first pair of OBOZ!! Wow! From the beginning they fit my foot well and did not need break in time. Immediately went on a hike and they were awesome. I wear them every day because they are so comfortable and they give me a very stable feeling. From hiking, horse barn, vineyard work, they fit every activity well. So glad I spent the money and got them. I just ordered by husband a pair and hope he loves them as much as I do.

This is my first Oboz purchase and I'm quite pleased! I require a wide toe box for bunions but have a narrow heal area. These shoes fit perfectly and are comfortable. My Podiatrist had recommended Keen Targhee II which were very uncomfortable and way too wide at the heel. My feet were sliding out of the Keens hiking shoes. Oboz works perfectly! Wide enough toe box and narrower heel for comfort. I love these shoes! I would like to thank Zappos for the outstanding service.

Wow, I'm really glad to discover this brand! I was looking to a hiking/trail running shoe that was waterproof and also good for long fast city walks of up to 2 hrs. I ordered 5 pairs and this was far and away my favorite. It's fairly light for a hiking shoe so I can do short running or wind sprints in it. It's sturdy and a little stiffer than my previous shoes so it took a couple of days getting used to that but now I love them! Great for anyone who likes Keens - wide but not too wide and not a big heel drop (I hate that most running shoes feel like I'm in heels).

First time purchasing this brand! I ordered my true size a 10 and a 10.5. I ended up keeping the 10.5 for a bit of extra room as my feet will swell when hot!
I am very particular about my hiking shoes as I hike at least 3-5 miles per day. These were a bit rigid out of the box but very comfy. I wore them around the house with one orthotic (I have very high arches)and one with the insole they came with and they felt identical! I had my first hike this morning in them and my feet WITHOUT orthotics were very very happy! The width is perfect for my normal width feet and no heel slippage which has been an issue with Merrill’s & Keens.
Off to Alaska hiking with happy feet!

Wow! These OBOZ are great boots. From the minute I put my feet into them, I knew I was going to love them. I've worn them for over two weeks now and they still look and feel great. I ordered a size larger than I usually wear because I wanted to be able to wear heavy wool socks with them. Zappos folks were great to work with. They answered all my questions and helped me get the size that would fit best.

Put these on out of the box and hiked 9 miles through the Sonoran Desert on an intermediate trail. They were AWESOME...not a single blister or hot spot.

Great Boot! From the moment i put them on, i knew they were keepers. Arch is snug but not stiff. The shoe itself is very form fitting to the foot, especially around the ankle. Which is great, for hiking. No turned ankles. My feet stayed warm and toasty on the first day I wore them, when I usually would have ended up with I cold feet. They don't supenate or pronate my feet, just give good solid neutral support. Only two slight negatives. They were a bit pricey for me. And the olive drab boot, with olive drap and purple laces were named violet?

Lightweight and has stability I need. I ordered a 10 wide and they were plenty wide and actually a little long. Wait for the but...but they had too much arch for this flat footed gal, and they came up high on my ankles and dug in...maybe they would have broken in, but the arch was too high for me

FINALLY I found a waterproof, (lightweight) hiking shoe that will support my orthotics! Keen has greatly disappointed me, changing their style and making their shoes more narrow, and not allowing their shoes to support orthotics anymore (my heel just slips out of them, even in a half smaller size!)
These shoes are so friggin' supportive and comfortable and i'm THRILLED! I wish they made a leather shoe, in black or something, but these colors will do!

I really like this shoe and will keep it. The comfort and fit are good for me, but it's pretty clunky. Definitely not a fashion statement!! I love that it has a neutral base and a great arch support.

Finally, after reading many reviews online I decided to order the Oboz Sawtooth LowBDry. I need a shoe for walking on concrete sidewalks in the city and for trail hiking and rock climbing when I go on vacation out west. These were comfortable and perfect right out of the box. I have a narrow heel and plantar fasciitis but need a wide toe box. These have good arch support and they fit snuggly through the ankle and heel. Ample room in toe box and the whole sole is sufficiently firm yet cushiony if that makes sense! I won’t have to worry about shin splints when walking on hard surfaces. Tread seems secure to prevent slippage. Haven’t worn them in rain or water yet but fabric seems waterproof. I think these are going to be my go-to sturdy walking/hiking shoes! Thanks to Zappos always for fast delivery and service!

PERFECTION OUT OF THE BOX in my normal size 10, wearing LLBean Cresta hiking socks and sock liners. These socks are just a regular mid-weight hiking sock. Shoes were tried around the house for 24 hours and then a short 4 mile hike. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
Purchased for hiking local trails, Shenandoah National Park, and some section hiking of AT.

These feel like cradles for my feet. The arch support is the best I've found outside of buy-them-extra-for-$40 and up insoles. I also tried the Merrell Moab 2 and it was close between the two, but these just fit my feet better and didn't squeak on the floor. I liked the the Moab 2 had a rubbery bit on the bump-toe, but these also looked better on. Can't wait to go hiking!

These shoes are a good match for my foot type. I wear size 10.5, but usually have to order 11s to get a proper fit. I ordered 10.5 and it actually fits great. The Oboz Sawtooth has ample toe box without sacrificing a snug fit in the ankle.

selected this shoe because it was described as large toe box but narrow heel. I still had movement in the heel and I wish the shoe had the lacing configuration so you could make the loops to tighten down to help stop movement in the heel as well. I have a big problem with this movement but no shoe works as advertised, it does have a very comfortable toe box and hasn't given me a blister. I have worn it for many miles several times.

These are the perfect light-hiking, rough-and-tumble shoes for my feet: I have a narrow heel, very high instep and need a wide toe box. They're not too stiff or heavy and were comfortable right out of the box. Plenty of room for toes and a baker's bunion. I tried on 7 other brands that were recommended narrow heel/wide toe, and found these to be by far the best. They are a nice snug fit through the instep. I wear a size 7.5 in running shoes and 7 in dress shoes, but for this a size 7 was perfect.

After trying quite a few pairs of hiking shoes, these were the most comfortable and offered the most support for my feet. I tend to need a shoe with a wider toebox because I grew up walking around barefoot most of the time. The 8 gave me enough room while keeping my heel fairly snug, which is my norm for any kind of flat. I absolutely love how the tread goes up all four sides of the shoe for monkeys like me. :-) Also, these are the first shoes I've ever tried on where my arch actually felt supported. Definitely give these a try. I only wish they came in more colors! I haven't tried them on train yet but judging by fit and comfort, I'm sure they will do fine.

My foot: Bunions + tenancy to Plantar's Fasciitis. Standing on ruler, I am 10" long and 4.25" wide (at bunions). Heel and ankle are narrow, foot is slim on top. I have wide calluses on the big toe, and seek a wide toe box to minimize corns where the bunioned big toe presses in against the 2nd toe. I use a cork-supported custom orthotic for arch support, but occasionally find enough arch support in some shoes (Dansko).
I ordered and compared three shoes:
**Vasque Mantra 2.0 (10W)
**Oboz Sawtooth Low BDry (10W)
**Dansko Paisley (more of a sneaker, but I love the Dansko foundation) (40)
I wasn't looking for a hard-core hiking shoe so much as I was looking for a trail shoe: I walk about 4 miles a day (dogs) on dirt roads with moderate ups and downs. I had begun to develop Plantar's again, and had discovered the reason: my old Patagonias were entirely flexing in their middle. I have learned that a shoe that will not flex in the middle is the shoe that prevents Plantar’s.
I had to immediately dismiss the Oboz sz10W, as it FULLY FLEXES IN ITS MIDDLE. End of story for those of us with Plantar's. Even in its wide iteration, it is less wide than the Vasque 10W (touched the sides of my 4.25” bunions) without socks. But it was far more attractive than the Vasque, and I was sad to see it go. It appears to have lots of nice ventilation at the top, and the four tones of colors make it a spunky-looking shoe. I do note that the lace sides are very close together, which means there is little room for actual width adjustment. It has solid arch support (I might not need my orthotic insert) and the heel is narrower and nicely collared for less slip. The sole is not marked as Vibram, but the treads are deep—about 4mm.
I also had to dismiss the Dansko Paisley (sz40). It is not wide enough, although I considered ordering the 41 or 42 to see if I could gain enough width that way. Other Danskos have been wide enough for me, so this disappoints. The sole is by far the least flexible of the three in the middle, which is good news. It is also the best of the three for making the foot look smaller. Its arch support is not as full as I would like, although it accommodated my orthotic just fine, and thereby became acceptable in that way. From an aesthetics standpoint, this shoe is strangely laced far forward into the toe box, which I think makes it look less attractive. Not sure why Dansko made that choice—unless it is a nod to making it possible for the shoe to become more narrow than it already is (which seems to fly in the face of Dansko’s core fan base—people with foot problems like bunions). Its Vibram sole is not deeply treaded (2mms only), which surprises me. This makes it a city-only shoe, really, and significantly reduces the tread life—especially for those of us who are vigorous walkers and tend to strike harder on the heel. There is less padding at the heel, but it snugged my narrow heel comfortably.
I ultimately chose the Vasque Mantra 2.0 (sz10W), despite its being the least attractive of the three. Its bunion area is generous (does not rub my 4.25 in SmartWool socks), and despite its slightly larger ankle, it (alone of the three) has double grommets in the ankle area, so I was able to lace it well enough there to achieve no slip. I notice that it has more fabric and less leather in the area that surrounds the ankle, and I wonder if this will result in more (or less) give in that area over time. On my foot, there is a slight pucker at the bunion area, which tells me this shoe can accommodate a wider foot than my 4.25-incher. BTW, the Vibram sole on this one has treads 5mm deep. The shoe really only has two tones of color, as the tiny touches of lime green at the back and in flecks in the laces are so minimal as to not count, and even the two tones are barely distinct from each other. Sucking in my vanity (which wanted a more attractive shoe), I took it on my 4-mi. walk, and it did beautifully straight out of the box. Comfort and support reign supreme, after all, and this shoe delivers best out of the three.

I have a narrow foot. The insole did not fit the shape of my foot--it felt like there was a lump under my heel.
I probably could have done something about that, but the underside of the tongue was lumpy and sharp edged. It was also thin with little padding and you could feel the laces through it. It started to irritate the top of my foot after just a few minutes trying it on at home.
I purchased 1/2 size larger than my street shoes --which I normally do in these type of shoes--and the length was fine.
I tested the grip on some wet tiles and they didn't slip, so I was disappointed that I could not keep them. I was hoping to replace some older Merrells which were slippery.

Oboz Sawtooth Low, too low for me! I thought I ordered the regular after reading review but these are indeed too low across the metatarsals for me to wear. Otherwise they would be a keeper, fit true to size. Was looking for something different from my usual Ariat but these won't work for me!

These shoes are great for rainy day walks/hikes around town or in the redwood forests. I love that I don't have to rush out of them and put on a pair of "regular shoes." I think this is my 8th pair of Oboz...they are my trusted hiking footwear.
