Most comfortable boots I've had in years. I bought them right before a trip and they were so incredibly comfortable when I tried them on that I decided to wear them to the airport and on the trip even though they were new. No blisters, no tender spots, nothing but happy feet and legs despite lots of walking for over a week, including through airports and on ice and snow. The sole is thinner than standard Birks, but is by no means too thin and provided plenty of support. Got lots of compliments on the style and the beautiful nut brown color too. I have a normal width size 7 foot and the 38 fit me perfectly.

The complaints about thinness of sole don't make any sense to me. I like minimalist soles (from a comfort perspective) and these are definitively not that. But I like these a lot anyway. They're good looking shoes that work well sock-less or with hefty wool socks. The nut brown color is really handsome and versatile. The 41s feel slightly generous to me, but probably in that 10-10.5 US range that Zappos quotes.

I am a big reader of reviews. But not always a writer of reviews. These shoes are remarkable. I need to have shoes with a good arch and support. I also need shoes that have some cushioning. These shoes fit with the right arches that a normal regular cork footbed has. However the insole fits inside the shoe and has a gum rubber sole on the outside. It feels like it has some give because of the sole. The shoe fits wonderfully! It zips on the side to allow you to get your foot in without having to have the opening so big. It is a snug (but not tight) slide in. Then once your foot is in it fits great. My feet are usually hot so I do not usually wear super thick or chunky socks. The boots fits great with cute regular/thin socks. I have very wide feet. I also have many Birkenstock shoes. I appreciate the wide aspect of the unisex styles like the Arizona sandals and the London closed clogs. I was skeptical that these would be wide enough for me. They are great! My feet are cradled inside just where they need to be and there is plenty of room in the toe box. I wear a 40 in every Birkenstock that I have and this is the same. I am excited about the gum rubber sole for winter! The traditional sole of the Birkenstock is super slick in any wet or icy conditions. I have not worn these shoes much yet due to the warm weather that we have been having but I cannot wait for these to be my go to shoes as the weather cools! Last but not least they are adorable! They seem to be on point with the low style of ankle boot that is appearing everywhere right now. The color seems a bit more organic and natural brown in person rather than an orange that some of the pictures show online. I really like the color in person. It is a good neutral to go with many many things tights, jeans, leggings, etc. These shoes are winners! They are supportive, trendy, cute on the feet, made in a durable way, and ready for winter weather! I cannot say enough about how excited about these shoes I really am! As always Zappos is amazing with service of getting the shoes to me super fast!

I absolutely love these boots. I am a long time Birkenstock customer, and like others said, this sole is thinner and more flexible than a traditional Birk sole. I think it is still very supportive and is actually better suited to a boot than a more rigid sole. The only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 is that the leather scuffs easily. They're still the best boots I've found (and I've been on a quest for comfortable walking boots for years). Fix that and they'd be perfect. A note to those disappointed with the sole: The Dundee boot has the traditional Birk sole. These shoes are going to appeal to people who want a little more flexibility and a slimmer style. If you want the traditional sole go with the Dundee.

I've written a review somewhere on the Zappos site, but I'll do it again here. This Birkenstock was a sad disappointment--looks great, feels good, but is worthless for walking because the sole is so thin and flimsy, very much NOT like a Birkenstock. I'm so sad that Birks have gone through so much change. I was so excited to find a Birk boot--but it felt like a bait and switch. Returning it.

These feel like they were custom made for my foot--so very comfortable! They feel more comfortable than my Birkenstock sandals. In the first minute of having them on, I thought I must get them in black too--apart from sneakers I don't have duplicates of any shoe. They are surprisingly fashionable and minimalist. They are truly ankle boots and hit right at the top of where the anklebone sticks out, a good height for people with short legs. The footbed is the regular Birkenstock footbed and has great arch support. My toes don't feel pinched at all, yet the vamp is not overly boxy or wide. Also, the toebox is nicely curved and not to bulbous, like some of the old Footprints by Birkenstock shoes could be. For me these shoes were amazing, I haven't wanted to take them off. They seem pretty warm and I can wear them with thicker wool socks. I got my regular 38 for Birkenstocks and might seem a bit long compared to my sandals--but my foot doesn't scoot forward, even though it feels like there is extra room at the top of the shoe.

These are constructed of high quality materials and felt comfortable. I wanted to like them but I just couldn't. I have a scar on my leg and I don't like boots to touch it so I have to opt for shorter styles. These looked weird with skinny jeans and really weird with dresses. I think they would look good with some bootcut pants but I just don't wear those anymore.

I was so excited to find ankle boots by Birkenstock! A dream come true so you can imagine my dismay to find that they are not the original sturdy shoe that I have loved for more than 30 years. The sole is made of a very soft and pliable material that makes me feel like the princess and the pea as I walk--the impression of every little pebble and roughness comes right through. Not a true Birkenstock. Sure, they look nice, and maybe the insole would eventually conform to my foot. But there's no getting around the thinness of the sole. I was hoping to get both the black and brown, but now I'll be returning the ones I got. Starting over, looking for a comfortable boot. What happened to Birkenstock?! Very sad.

First, these are made of beautiful leather! Second, why did I wait so long! I've been wearing Birkenstocks for about 30 years, yet resisted trying a boot. They are incredibly comfortable and provide the support I need to keep my knees and back happy and pain-free. As for sizing, they are exactly like any Birkenstock Footprints fully enclosed shoe. I have extra high arches and a very thick instep but these still work for me. I am looking forward to a winter with warm heels and ankles!

Like others, I was concerned about the thin soles review, but decided to give them a try. It took about 30 seconds to fall in love with these boots. No, they are not hiking boots, not work boots, just the most comfortable shoe you will put on your feet except your bedroom slippers. I put them on in the morning and don't take them off all day. I find that a light-weight wool sock works great with them, although a cotton sock gets a little slippery and needs a tug up now and then. Honestly, I'm a sandal person and dread putting on shoes, but this boot is awesome!

Absolutely love these boots. I've been a big fan of Birkenstocks for years, but had never ventured past their sandals. I bought these boots on a bit of a whim and could not be happier. I took them out of the box, tried them on and immediately fell in love. On a complete leap of faith, I packed them as my main shoes for a quick get away to London where we would be walking around non-stop. I figured if they were hard to break in or anything, I could resort to my tennis shoes. Let me tell you, I was amazed at how comfortable these boots are right off the bat. No breaking in time needed for me. I have some mild plantar fasciitis due to running and I was really worried about foot pain, but with these boots, my foot never hurt. (And we found ourselves running around several times to make busses or shows.) No, it's not a fully contoured Birkenstock footbed like their sandals, but it is semi-contoured and made of cork. I find it extremely comfortable. The sole of the shoe seems very durable and I don't quite understand people's complaints about them. I trudged through puddles of water in London just fine too. The leather is excellent quality and I can see these boots lasting for many years to come.

Finally, a boot from Birkenstock. I have waited for years for this! But why why why is there only one width? I wear the narrow in all the Birkenstock styles. But these are true medium width and I feel as if I have clown feet! It can not be that hard to put a narrow foot bed on this boot! Please, help us all wear Birkenstocks without the sock/sandal thing all winter! I am returning this pair amid much disappointment.

I was so excited to get these boots made by Birkenstock. I live in my sandals. I was very disappointed, they don't fit the same at all and I couldn't even get them on my feet. I ordered the same size as my sandals. They are headed back.

I own three pairs - one that I wear, and 2 in my closet - for the day when I will need them. I wear them nearly everyday - with pants, skirts, dresses. They feel old world and modern at the same time so they mix with my fashion - which is huge since due to broken ankle and other things, I can only wear Birks or Keens with lasting comfort. Everyone asks me what these boots are and are always pleasantly surprised when I say Birkenstock. I take care of them with mink oil and they look nearly new after 4 or 5 years!

I just love this boots, they are my favourite. I wear them since 2 years. I have a wide foot and it is always a nightmare to find something to fit, but this are very good. I will buy now the second pari.

Love these cute booties! Based on other reviews of Birkenstock closed toe shoes, I ordered 1 size larger than I order in sandals. Right move for me and my wide feet. These have plenty of toe wiggle room, even with socks but don't feel too long. They are comfortable but I wish they had the metatarsal ridge like Birkenstock sandals. Still, they don't bother my neuroma, and I can wear them all day at school. Plus, they are super cute!!!!

These shoes are super flexable and comfortable . The leather is very soft. The toe box is wide enough for those looking for the classic Birkenstock feel in boot form.

I wear a size 10 (41) but with the new sizing that I see in many shoes i.e. 41 being 10-10 1/2 they are too big. Beautiful boots, but alas, just too big. Hate to send them back but no choice.

Awesome shoes! Heels were a little stiff when first wore these Birkies but an hour later and ever since they've fit like gloves on my feet. Shoes are comfy for the entire day on my feet at our shop,and they fit snugly enough that I don't trip over uneven floor or ground. Just what I wanted and needed since it's too cool now to wear my Birkie sandals!

I really like the Bennington for its simplicity and construction. I would have loved to keep it - but it is just too wide for my foot. In the Mayari - I wear the 40N and this footbed was just too wide. Trying to figure out if the Stowe or the Collins might work. Great bootie if you are a bit more on the "wider foot" side.

Yippeee!! I am SO happy with these boots! I have had 2 broken bones and two surgeries on my left foot in the past year. Between that an a bunion on my right foot, I have trouble finding comfortable, supportive shoes that don't bind my tender feet. These fit the bill perfectly. I had been wearing athletic shoes only for the past year, but they can be chilly in cooler weather.These keep my tootsies warm.The leather is supple, and I really like the flat heel because I don't need my feet to move forward in the boot.I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

At first wearing, I thought these shoes looked funky, like duck feet, but they are so comfortable that I no longer care. The roomy toe box is worth it. I wear a size 10, and the 41 fits perfectly with lightweight socks. We have tile floors, and the booties have enough cushioning that I can stand in the kitchen for long periods without knee or back pain. Some reviewers have complained about the lack of support, but I think the support is adequate. I have found Birkenstock sandals a bit too rigid, resulting in knee pain. These boots are reasonably easy to get on, even with high insteps. The zippers work well, the leather is soft and the soles are grippy without being a trip hazard like soles that have lugs. I have ordered and returned many pairs of boots in the past few months. These are the only ones I have kept.
