Used as a laptop bag for my very white-collar business. Formal enough to fit in and unique enough to stand out from the standard black laptop carry-on.

Great bag with enough expansion for air travel. Small enough for day to day use.

My husband has been looking for a bag to use for work for a long time. He has a ton of gadgets, and this bag fits them all! I was nervous because I didn't show it for him before I suprised him with it, but luckily he loves it! The only problem he's had with it was losing his iPod in one of the pockets! There are so many compartments that he forgot about the one he put his iPod in! All in all it is a great bag and we highly recommend it!

I chose this bag because every day I was carrying a purse and two computers and a drink in one hand and keys in the other. I walk a little ways from the parking deck to my office and I was always struggling with the load or trying to find my keys and sometimes being bruised from the weight on one shoulder.
Now I carry everything from my purse and my two computers in one bag, I can tuck my drink in the side and easily find my keys. I carry the bag across my chest so the weight is distributed, and I look and feel organized!
What a relief! I love my new bag.

This bag is great for traveling and around town use...TSA friendly, makes it super easy to get through security...pockets are stealthy, takes a little getting used too, but are all in perfect places...buckles actually work great, takes some time to figure them out but I would not want the bag to latch any other way now.

I bought this bag just before a business trip. I was somewhat hesitant because of the handful of negatives against this bag. Honestly, those negatives are incredibly nit-picky. I have received compliments on it's appearance and functionality. It is super stylish but classy enough to be seen in an office setting. I think the fabric looks great. The construction is very sturdy. It seems like it can withstand a lot of abuse. The dividers and compartments are brilliantly laid out. I honestly can't think of a negative. I bought the Medium size and it fits my 15" Macbook Pro like a glove.

I use this daily and it's been great. Always in search of the best messenger bag for my use and this could be it. Although I don't transport a computer, I use the back pocket for documents that I need to get quickly. The small phone pocket is perfect for accessing earbuds when traveling. The only two small criticisms are: 1) I would like to have an umbrella pocket in addition to the water bottle pocket (need t make a choice there) and 2) it has a tendency to tip forward rather than back when open. These are minor, though. Great job Timbuk2!

My first Timbukt2 bag (Commute Laptop TSA-Friendly Messenger Bag) was starting to feel old to me even though *nothing* was wrong with it. It was my first messenger bag and after using it for 2 years I started to get to know what I wanted in my next bag. To my surprise, the new Command TSA-Friendly Messenger Bag came out which had a lot of what I wanted "different" than my Commute Laptop TSA Bag. First, the velcro was never my favorite though it works great in a pinch but for maximum secureness you needed to use the two plastic clips that held the flap down. The new Command TSA bag had velcro covers to block velcro use (make things quieter) and these new metal hooks that go into sewn in loop positions. At first using the metal hooks was a little hard until I figured out that all you need to do is apply pressure to the hook on the side which was open. This makes the hook "unlock" from the sewn loops and it comes right out. Now it's SUPER easy to take the hooks out and open the flap. I think Timbuk2 would be well served to make a video on this. Next, the design of the bag is much more rigid, which for me is a huge plus in looks and usability though at the cost of a little comfort. The bag will not conform to your back when you wear it like the Commute Bag, but with a 15" MacBook in the laptop area NO bag will ever conform to your back. The back laptop area is only designed to hold one tablet this time which is no biggie. I love the napoleon pocket in the flap as I use it for my security badge. While this bag doesn't have the same volume as the Commute, the Command has plenty for most users that are looking to travel light. A couple more zippered or velcro'd inside pockets would have been nice, but I'm ok with it. Again, love love love this bag and specially in the Carbon Full Twill (yes, it's slightly green color tinged but looks great) which is classy.

Great bag, huge step up for me. My only complaints are the smaller number of organizational compartments than I'm used to - however, I'm learning to make do. I'll also say that I got the smallest bag, and it's as big as I'd ever want... Just consider that when ordering. Wish the water bottle holder was a bit roomier and the power brick pocket as well, but those are nit-picky.
That said - if that's all I can come up with its highly recommended.

I had the previous gen of this bag for several years and loved it. This new version is an improvement in several ways - the material is much more stylish, the buckling system is 100% better, and the pocket on the outside flap is a huge plus. I miss the old power supply pocket on the bottom (the new side version works as long as you have a small power supply. The previous version also had more internal pockets that I miss as well. And hopefully a future version will add larger end pockets on the outside (on both ends!). But, overall this is by far the best travel bag on the market and it is now better than ever. I have multiple friends that has purchased this bag after seeing mine. Huge Timbuk2 fan.

I had been using the same briefcase for many years, but it finally bit the dust. Settled on this bag after looking way too long. For me it's the perfect size. My 13" Macbook Pro fits perfectly, there's plenty of storage space, but it's still pretty small and lightweight. Best of all there are several pockets that are accessible without opening the main compartment, some of which were not even mentioned in the description online. I like it a lot, and hope it holds up for many years.

Love this bag. Very stylish and also holds so much stuff. I like how the computer (I have 15.5 in. screen) feels so safe. Great for airport travel. I bought the large -- it does not bulk out yet holds a lot. It is pretty wide as far as proportions (instead of puffed out), but not in a problematic way. The diablo red is fabulous!

I recycled my old command bag and take advantage of the discount. The new version is even more organized. I love the side pocket for carrying the charger. The colors options are even better. I am carrying 2 Mac Book Pro 15's, an iPad all my other stuff. Love it!

This is the best bag I have bought. I really like the look of the bag and all of the different zipper pockets, helps keep me organized because there's enough pockets for everything to have a place. I looked for quite a while before I picked this one and I am very happy with my buy. I use it for my day to day work/laptop bag for back and forth to the office. I haven't taken it on a business trip yet, but it seems like I can carry everything I would need.

I like the bag for the most part. It is roomy enough for all my functions throughout the day. However the one thing I find hard to manage is the clips to close the bag. Getting them latched on to the fabric loops is pretty okay but it is the unlatching that can be hard sometimes. They do not slide very freely due to the upturned metal latch and tend to get caught on the fabric when they do.

It's still a great bag, but if you're getting this during the final sale and you're purchasing it based primarily on the product demo video that's out there, be warned that this is not identical. This final version does not have a padded handle (nylon strap only), it does not have a separate iPad pocket in the laptop compartment, and it does not have the largest of the 3 napolean pockets (only has the side pouch pocket and the smaller front flap pocket). Oh, and it does not come with velcro silencers. All in all it's still a tremendous bag, but I was pretty disappointed that it was lacking these four features, especially because at the time I purchased it, that demo video was still on display here on the product page.

I love this bag but unfortunately the demo video is not exactly the bag I recieved. I think my model of Commander Messenger is the SMALL and doesnt have a couple of the features on the demo. The deep pocket that the Ulock can fit in isnt there and the handle is different in the video. The large exterior pocket was a big selling point for me and the handle is only a single piece of webbing. I love the bag it just didnt meet all of my expectations.

Was really excited to upgrade to this bag until it arrived. Unfortunately the product that was shipped does not have all the features that are featured in their own videos for the bag. Has no silencer straps and missing a zipper compartment on the front "U-lock holder". There is not a newer version of this bag listed on the website so ?????? Sucks to fork over the $$ for a good quality product and get something you weren't expecting. Please remove your product video from your YouTube channel if it doesn't match what you're selling. https://youtu.be/gvsIlLDESGw

Great quality. The materials and stitching are excellent. Bag is a tad small... Medium is supposed to fit a 15" laptop. My 15" fits, but it is extremely tight. Also, this is the only Timbuk2 bag I've bought that does not have a lanyard for my keys (This is the 6th Timbuk2 bag I've purchased)...

Work bag for me (subway commute, travel via plane once per month).
Love the quality build, plenty of size, simple design, and all the zippered pockets!
Not deal-breakers, but opportunities for improvement for me are: don't love the handle (feels flimsy if carrying bag by hand); and irritated by the hooks at the front (not super easy)I was hoping too just use the velcro flaps and not have to use the hooks, but kinda need to use the hooks.
All in all, though, it's a great bag.

I purchased the large size command messenger bag. However, the product details are not entirely correct. The bag I received did not come with any bag silencers of any sort. Additionally, the website does not make clear the large size bag only has two of the napoleon pockets NOT three.
Other than that, the bag is high quality, seems durable, and meets my needs. Would purchase again.

So far I like the bag and appreciate the functionality. I'll see how it works for me long term as I am used to my Timbuk backpack and looking forward to the switch.
