I got the 130 for a cruise and it's way overkill, I might just pack my whole house in it, but I figured it would get used for other trips so why not go with the bigger one? I'm not sure about the one review complaining about the handle being too short, I'm 6'3 and it's plenty high enough for me to comfortably hold and roll it around. Top quality from Osprey once again. I pretty much only buy their bags now and they have all been amazing.

If you want a bag that can fit it all, this is for you! Compression straps for straightjacket mode are a life saver for ease of lifting and carrying bag, keeping it from being top heavy, or tipping over easily. The handles on sides also make it easy to pick up and load with shorter arm span. Because of this awesome feature it's easy to have this bag over weight without being completely full and still easy to lift and carry.
Be prepared that a lot of flights (especially in Europe) this is going to have to go through oversize bag area due to the height of the bag alone!

I fly 40 to 60 flights per year with trips lasting one to three weeks I bought my Shuttle six years ago after buying several other large duffels which all failed. It is the best large duffel and handles 50 pounds easily. Definitely worth the money.

This bag is amazing for several reasons. First, I purchased this bag about 6 years ago and it is still going strong. Second, I am an over packer and I can fit everything I need and don’t need in the bag. Lastly, this bag is like a Swiss Army knife. There are convenient storage compartments through out the bag. I would absolutely buy this bag again. Although, I don’t think I will need a new bag for awhile.

Great piece of luggage, I really like the ability to cinch down the compression straps to keep well within the airline size limits. You can very easily get 60 to 80 pounds of gear into this bag so you need to pay close attention the 50# rule. I do like the fact that when we road travel I can load EVERY THING in one bag. I was just in a Swiss train station and in Parris where I had to pull the bag for up to 1/4 mile, no problem. I had read about the short towing handle but it did not prove to be a problem for me.

I love the versatility of this bag. When stuffed to full capacity I can haul 70 to 80 lbs of gear, yet the compression straps allow me to shrink the overall dimensions to comply with airline requirements. On a recent trip I had to drag the bag up to 1/2 mile in train stations; the short handle I had read about did not pose a problem. Strongly recommend the bag!

My wife and I have used the Shuttle bags to transport our scuba diving gear and all other necessities, when we go diving to many different places around the world. These bags are easy to pack, yet lightweight - which is very important since airlines often want us to keep our total luggage weight under 50 pounds. With these bags, we can easily pack all our scuba gear, clothes, and other stuff, and still be under 50 pounds. The bags are also very strong and rugged which is important to us as our luggage not only goes on/off airplanes, but also on/off boats, boat docks. (Going scuba diving is NOT the same as going to a nice hotel. Rather, it is often a more rugged environment). Our bags have performed flawlessly. We also have (only) Osprey bag for hiking, as well as more casual travel. The Osprey bags were originally recommended to us by a fellow traveler (who was also a world traveler). Needless to say, that recommendation was 'spot on' and we have enjoyed and appreciated our Osprey for many years now.

My wife and I have used these bags on many overseas trips. We usually travel for 3 weeks at a time and we can pack 3 weeks of clothes and essentials (even winter clothes) without a problem. You could actually exceed 50 lbs of stuff. We use packing cubes and that helps keep everything orderly. After many trips, we had one bag that the airlines bent the frame and the other they managed to rip a hole in the bottom. I sent them back to Osprey and they sent me two new ones. You can't beat that. I love Osprey and their bags!!!! They are also the perfect size for carrying onto trains. They have many grab handles too.

I purchased a Shuttle 36" for a drop everything/turn on a dime cross country move in January. It allowed me to carry winter essentials and more. It serves as my trunk in my new temporary location. And when I have to pack out overseas it will be with me again keeping my belongings secure and properly packed away. Its the perfect gear hauler.

I have been using the Osprey Shuttle 130L for more than 10 years now. Overall, I am happy with it, the roominess of the inner space, ample number of pockets, etc. I have 3 major complaints: the short pull out handle, the fabric, and the compression straps assembly.
The pull out handle is very short, making maneuverability difficult. The fabric repeatedly rips around the base area, and corners despite the protective plastic bumpers. Second thing, also mentioned by another reviewer, are the compression straps, locking clips, and guard clips of the compression strapsthey keep breaking. The straps, the clips, and the straps should be redesigned to prevent this from repeatedly happening. I have sent it once to get it repaired, rest of the time I just traveled with straps hanging since I was not in the country to get the repair done. This in no way reflects on Osprey. When I was in a place to get the straps, and clips repaired, it was done so by Osprey expeditiously, no questions asked. Their customer service, and warranty is par excellence. Compared to other luggage manufacturers that put you through the ringer, and make you pay for repairs, Osprey does the repairs free of charge. Just buy your Osprey from an authorized reseller, and you'll be good for the life of the Osprey product you have.

I am an avid adventurer traveling for both work and pleasure. I was very excited to use this bag. I first used it for a trip to New Mexico back country. It held up great. I then used it for a deployment. The single bag was able to hold nearly everything I would have used two of my military bags to transport. I was disappointed that the top of the bag ripped during transit on US commercial airline. The bag integrity wasn't compromised and it is still usable. Since the bag did not hold all I needed I paired it with a smaller bag. The bag attachment loop was excellent. It was amazing how much control and maneuverability I maintained rolling the two bags together. I would definitely recommend this bag again.

My family purchased a similar Osprey bag several years ago that was nice and lightweight, but needed some adjustments regarding easy access/loading. This bag fixed everything AND was lighter (not to mention a GREAT color that so easy to spot in baggage claim!)...and then was drug right back down because the wheeling handle is as short as it is in the picture, making it a miserable bag to wheel around and travel with. Not sure why the designers landed on such a terrible feature, but it ruins the whole bag and keeps me from purchasing a second bag for myself.

Bought this since we travel A LOT and wanted a long-lasting bag that would hold me and my husband's things together when we travel. Sadly, we didn't use it until after the 30-day return window expired for our first trip.
We get to the airport, Southwest says it's too large to be checked. Charges us an oversize bag fee. Its just an inch or two too big.
We travem again a couple mos later with Jet Blue, same issue. Too large and they want another fee to check it.
I wish this had been disclosed in the description. We stupidly assumed Osprey considered airline size requirements for checked luggage when they designed this. Its just an inch or two off from being the right size, but this small design flaw will keep us from being able to use this bag when we travel and want to pack our things together.

Love the number of pockets, the size of the storage area, however, all of that is secondary to how terrible this bag is to walk with. When in tow it constantly fowls on my leg with each step, which has given me hip and back pain. I am on a 4-week trip and only a week in and needed to see a Chiropractor due to the pain this has caused from walking with it.
If you are getting taxi rides everywhere this bag will be fine, if you have to walk any distance with the bag, avoid at all costs! Such a shame, as on paper the bag looked great!
