Having purchased only Keen shoes for many years now after having previously worn Mephisto and Ecco shoes, I have to say that this company clearly makes wonderful shoes. My recent experience over my past six or seven pairs of Keen Austin shoes has now been interrupted by an interest in trying a Keen Style Made in America. The Piedmont Lace has provided me that opportunity. It is too early to provide feedback as to how the Piedmont Lace performs over time, in that I have just received these shoes The purpose of my review is to offer some comparative information between the Keen Austin and the Piedmont Lace so that others familiar with the Austin can consider trying out the Piedmont Lace for themselves. The Piedmont Lave right out of the box smacks of quality materials and workmanship. The leather is very good looking and actually reminds me of some expensive baseball gloves I have enjoyed over the years. The rubber sole of the Piedmont looks to be designed a little more toward all terrain environments than that of the Austin. The first impressions of "Fit" are that the Piedmont encompasses the foot more like a golf glove verses a winter weather glove. The Piedmont Fit gives one the impression of having had the shoe specifically tailored for me personally. The footbed in part due to the different tread offers quite a few more points of arch and total foot support than the Austin. One of the fantastic attributes of the Austin is the very large ball of the foot and toe area, and while the Piedmont feels tighter, it offers similar comfort to the Austin. The "Sizing" at least in my Size 12 is a perfect fit in the Piedmont as it is in the Austin. The actual length of the Piedmont rubber sole is perhaps 3/4 of an inch longer than the Austin although that is not apparent in the interior foot area. Both styles offer comfort right out of the box. The bottom line for me is that I still appreciate the Austin and well buy more pairs in the future, but the Piedmont Lace offers perhaps a more refined product which appears to be worth the extra cost. If you like the Austin, I feel safe in predicting you will also enjoy this new Piedmont Lace style.

Great shoe. Very sturdy and wide. Feels like it will wear for many years. The leathers on each shoe don't match as pictured. Needed to exchange for shoes that match each other.

These are great! Super comfortable. I usually waffle between a 13-14, but these fit me fine in a 13. The wider toe box must help.
I like that they are made in America.
I understand that Keen is no longer making this style. That's a shame.

I'm a bigfooted woman (men's size 9.5) who's starting to have miscellaneous foot problems, so I thought I'd try these instead of my usual Clark's slipons. When I took them out of the box, my first thought was "Whoa, these have to go back, they're clunkier than I thought". But I decided to try them on first, and "Whoa" immediately turned to "Aaahhh!" I'm wearing them at least three times a week to work, and not only are they actually more comfortable than going barefoot, but my feet feel better even on days when I'm not wearing them! Plus, I've gotten compliments on them from my patients! May have to spring for another pair---too bad they don't come in more adventurous colors.

I am a big Keen fan and these Piedmonts do not disappoint. These are probably are my all time favorites. They are very comfortable, and good looking.

These shoes fit me perfectly. Although a little pricey, they are comfortable and my plantar fasciitis is getting better. I highly recommend them. I received the shoes faster than anticipated.

As a working woman professional, I am thrilled with my first purchase of the Keen shoe line. I previously always bought Clarks, and am disappointed with the performance of their shoes, the high cost and they just don't wear well, plus the toe box is too narrow. So, in looking for something new, I purchased these in a men's size figuring they may be more durable. I work in Security and am on my feet a lot, in and out of a vehicle and in all kinds of PA weather. I could tell that I would like these the minute I put them on. Not only comfortable with plenty of toe room, they fit perfect and look like I could go through just about any terrain in them. Sturdy and I think they look good. I am hooked and will buy another pair. Thank you Keen and glad they are made in America!

Lately my feet have been hurting, primarily my soles and almost always wearing dress shoes to work. Recently I started wearing my Keen waterproof hiking shoe to work and my feet stopped hurting, especially my plantar fasciitis. I bought these as a compromise between good for my feet and yet still can pass muster in my business casual office environment.
Additionally I love the tongue. The top which is closest to my leg has a padded edge and this makes walking comfortable right out of the box.

I've only had these for a few days but I love them. They fit great and they are made in my hometown, Portland OR.

I bought a pair of these and a pair of the Durand Low WP. These fit perfectly, look great and seem well made. I have been satisfied with quality and durability of Keen shoes in the past. I like the Made in USA aspect.

I bought 5 pair similar in style, found the Keen Piedmont to be the best looking and fit (sent the rest back).

I've had a ton of Keen shoes and these are... a lot like all the others: good for wide feet, comfortable, well made with that distinctive Keen wedge look. There was only one hitch for these, attn Keen: the laces are too short! There's just a few inches sticking out, not really enough to tie once they're on. (And though I use orthotics, I hadn't put them in yet.) If you have spare laces you may want to switch these out, or simply skip the first hole after the U at the top, or something to gain some extra length. But how odd that Keen threaded these up and never thought... not enough lace.

Poor quality, shoe laces wore out withing weeks due to the eyelets cutting into the laces. The second issue was the black color washed out and they became a strange off grey color. It was not the quality that I have experienced from Keen.
