True story: Three 50-something guys (strangers) recently going through TSA checkpoint. I look down and see the guy in front of me wearing these Eccos so I told him they look great and ask him who makes them. He says, "Ecco, and they're really comfortable." The guy in front of him (with his wife) says, "I love my Eccos. They are the best." The whole conversation takes maybe 15 seconds. No eye contact (we're looking down at the shoes). The guy in front's wife says, "Now I've seen everything! Three guys - total strangers - talking about shoes! Incredible." We commented that we've come a long way since the days of cavemen. Technology being what it is, I ordered a pair on my phone before my flight took off. Got them a couple of days later. My adult sons both said, "Those look great. Who makes them?" These Soft 7 sneakers are so comfortable that I bought a second pair that arrived yesterday. Thanks, Zappos!

I am very pleased with these shoes. Stylish, and yet possessing both supple uppers and appreciable arch support (these shoes are indeed exceptionally comfortable). But these qualities already are evident in previous postings. I am writing to instead weigh-in on "how much" too big are these shoes relative to the recommended European size as compared to a US size. My suggestion: If you already have Eccos, order exactly the same for these shoes. In reading the reviews, I inferred that this Ecco shoe was an outlier in being way too big, and thus I ordered European 41 which according to the sizing chart is equivalent to US 7-7.5. In this I made a mistake. Now having exchanged the shoes, I am appreciative in wearing European 42, "equivalent" to US 8-8.5. Normally I wear US 9, so the European 42 is precisely one size down from what is recommended on the sizing chart. All Ecco shoes are "too big," but my experience has been that at least they are consistently too big (in my case, "one size" too big).

The Ecco soft seven is the perfect shoe. It provides arch support, it is soft, well constructed, durable. I love them. I own over 20 pairs of the soft 7 model shoes. When you first put them on, they are comfortable, no break in time needed, but.... once they do break in, OMG... if feels like they mold to your feet, and they will be even more comfortable, more than you can imagine. The arch support is perfect not too pronounced, more towards the neutral side, but it’s definitely there. I haven’t had these shoes long enough to see if the gravel color base stays cleaner than the white base. If you get a pair with white base, they will get dirty, and you will not, I repeat, will not ever be able to get them to their original white color, but that’s ok, it gives the shoes character. Thank you Zappos for providing the absolute best online customer service. I am an avid shopper, and let me tell you, better customer service than Zappos doesn’t exist.

Comfortable shoe, and great traction. But it is not nearly as waterproof as expected, particularly given the material. Wearing them once in the rain and my feet got wet. Also, the seams began to fray within about 3 weeks of daily use (photos). Overall, they're nice but not high quality and definitely not worth $150.

Runs large. Usually I wear a 10.5 but this time I wore a 9.5. Very comfortable shoe and perfect fit. I have flat feet and thee feel so soft. The leather is soft but durable. After wearing for a few months the leather has some scrapes but has held up strongly.

These shoes were very comfortable right out of the box. Had them on walking around town and was really happy. Very stylish. Plan on taking them on a cruise and using them for smart casual dress at dinner and know I also use them for some comfortable daytime walking/sight seeing. One problem and the reason for the 4 stars, is that the shoelaces refused to stay tied. I had to redo the laces 3 times in an hour! (Doesn't anyone actually try to use these shoes before deciding on what laces to provide?) They come with some sort of slightly waxed cotton almost-flat laces. I Solved the problem with an Amazon order of 50" flat black cotton laces 1/4" wide. You may want to order those as the same time as the shoes. The shoe still looks great.

This Ecco sneaker is a great sizing hack for women who have at least a size 39 but need more width than the Ecco 39 women's models. I triend many black leather sneakers in the women's dept. and even if they were labelled "W" they WEREN'T. So, I tried the men's Ecco 8, and it's perfect. Right out of the box, no pinching. I typically wear 8.5 to 9, or 39, and in Rothy's I need 9.5 to make the width right. In Seavees, I also have to size up to 9.5 to get the width. In Birkenstock, I wear 39 Reg.

I love these Ecco soft 7 shoes. They are truly the epitome of comfort. My entire shoe closet is filled with the Ecco soft 7 line. I have sensitive feet and being a teacher I am on them all day. These shoes make my feet feel 20 years younger. Total comfort. No other shoes are as comfortable as these, not even sneakers or running shoes compare to these. Besides being the most comfortable shoe ever, they are also stylish. To top it off Zappos provides the best prices, and customer services. Thank you Zappos.

Over laced, i.e., six eyelets instead of five with thick, waxed laces. They look great with white soles and whisky (dark brown) leather. Ordered my regular size and they were huge. Went one size smaller and they were perfect with a nice, roomy toe box.

Just got these and will keep them. Size 42 fits me in ECCO. I wear an 8.5 in a street shoe. This shoe feels initially slightly loose but not sloppy. Very comfortable foot bed and arch support. I plan to use them for casual office days, travel and all around dirt bagging. I like ECCO styling over Mephisto in the sneaker look. Thinking of getting another pair. I saw that travel guru Rick Steves wore these on one of his videos. That's what led me to these shoes. Zappos service is great. But, I wish they would put the shoe box in a box that fits just a shoe box rather than a box twice as large where the shoe box bounces around and can scuff the shoes as if being tumbled in a dryer.

This is my second pair of ECCO Soft 7 Sneakers. So, yes I like them and would recommend them to anyone who asks. I was looking for a good travel shoe. Something I could walk in all day touring sites, but they would also look good enough to wear to dinner in the evening. After two long days of city walking, much of it on cobble stone streets, my feet felt great. The shoes were super comfortable and provided excellent protection from the cobble stones. As for wearing to dinner, my wife thinks they look great! That’s good enough for me. I did say the shoes are “Felt true to width”, actually, if they came a little wider, I would probably have gotten a smaller size.

These are perfect casual street sneakers, good with shorts or pants, at a reasonable price. Good leather uppers and a cushioned and supportive bottom with traction.

My husband is PICKY! So so picky and these were a win! He loves the overall comfort of the shoe and support that it gives his dainty feet. The back of the shoe is soft and doesnt cut into his heel and he loves the width. They look super professional with slacks, but can be dressed down with jeans. This is a great deal!

I took someone's advice and ordered a mens shoe to accommodate my wide feet. Perfect. Very comfortable. Even compliments from my daughters, which is rare, lol

Love Ecco shoes; these ones in particular look and feel great. Very comfortable and fit nicely. The whiskey color is like a brownish-red. I wear 10.5 size, sometimes 11, but for Ecco shoes I’ve found 44 fits me nicely. So probably best to buy a size on the smaller end of the range.

I wanted a Dad shoe that didnt look so much like a Dad shoe. These fit the bill. I usually wear a 10.5-11 and I went with the 10-10.5 with these.

The soft 7 sneaker seems to be well made of superior leather which is unusual for a skate shoe but somehow I found the overall appearance and style to be somewhat bulky and stiff. I am going to return the soft 7 because I can't see myself wearing it as a casual sneaker. Perhaps my age is a factor, being over 60.

I bought these sneakers for my husband for Christmas. He owns these sneakers in black and wears them almost every day to work because they are so comfortable. I purchased a second pair in mahogany which will look great with denim or khaki. Color is on trend!

Bought these in black and immediately ordered another pair in white. So comfortable right away.

Love this shoe! I haven't worn themout yet, but feel like I could walk in them all day! The arch is smooth, and they felt completely comfortable and supportive right out of the box. There were no annoying, questionable feelings--didn't wonder if anything about the shoe would bother me.

This is a great shoe, but had to buy the next size up. All of my other Eccos are this size.

New shoes arrived yesterday and they feel like I had them for years. Fit and feel great, very pleased with my new shoes.
