I waited a long time for Hoka to restock this low cut hiking shoe, the Tor Summit Waterproof. I wear several pairs of Hokas already and they are good for my flat feet with custom orthotics inserted.
My only complaint about this shoe so far (just got them) is there is heel slip even with my orthotic inserts.
I'm hoping the "waterproof" actually performs this time. I had leaking in a pair of high top boots before.

Used the product only in the last couple of weeks, so far so good. I have to get use to wearing such a lightweight hiking shoe.

I have been wearing the Tor Mid for a couple of years and wanted to try to low-top. I just went for a four-day Sierra backpacking trip and they worked well. I noticed the front of the shoe took a little break-in to be comfortable, as the shoe was pressing on the top of my foot (not a width or length issue).
I carried a 38-pound pack to camp. The next day, I scrambled up a peak, which involved talus and small snowfields. Very comfortable shoe and so far, no durability issues. My Tor Summit Mid has been quite durable, contrary to other users' experience.
Why are these shoes sold out from the manufacturer? When I bought my pair of grey ones, the brown shoe was not available. Hoka needs to keep up with their inventory.

These shoes provide for a well-cushioned walking or running experience. They are a bit heavier than I expected, but quite comfortable nevertheless. I did notice some heat build up, probably due to the waterproof characteristics.

These shoes are very comfortable and provide great cushioning. My feet get a little warm when hiking on warm sunny days.

I need extra cushioning because of loss of cartilage in ankle. These shoes provide excellent comfort and my custom orthotics fit nicely. Hopefully, they will hold up as I walk on the outsides of my feet.
I encourage Hoka to embrace the entire sector of those with foot and legs problems. Seems like a great opportunity.
I love the colors Hoka uses but would appreciate more sedate options that I could wear to work.

I am on my feet all day doing construction work . My Plantar Faciatis was really bothering me . This show gives me great arch support and my pain level has dropped off. It's been a great show for me . Hopefully they'll hold up over time.

Good traction and stability. The nubuck upper and rubber toe rand provide great foot protection. This shoe excels on downhills. The pillowy Hoka sole absorbs impact like no other and protects your feet from sharp rocks. Downsides? This is a very warm shoe. They breathe just enough so that my feet never got hot, but I really wished they were cooler. Also, the toe box is a little tight (typical for Hoka). I went up a half size so that I could wear my winter socks, but now they are sometimes a little roomy.

Recommended by my podiatrist after foot surgery. Very comfortable - soft but supportive.
Size seems true to fit.
Wish it was not made in China!

Was hoping it fit wide like the bondi 3, alas it did not and I had to return it. Perfect shoe for what I wanted, just didn't fit. Was hopeful it would last longer than bondis 4 mth tops

When I saw this type of shoe had come out from Hoka I jumped on it. I have a pair of Stinson 1 ATR. I bought them after a foot surgery (big toe fusion) and loved the cushioning. I'm forced to wear tennis shoes even to work so I like to find muted colors to wear with slacks. (Hoka's are not known for muted colors). When the brown hiker came out I ordered one in the same size as my stinson ATRs. The hiker was too small, way too small both width and length. I sent them back and ordered a half size up in 12.5. The 12.5 fit perfect in the fore foot, but the back heal would slide up and down as I walked and I had to tie the shoe uncomfortably tight to prevent it. So they went back too. :-(
I still gave them 4 stars. I've had two foot surgeries and love to walk and hike and I'll always have a pair of Hokas. These felt great and I was sad to have to send them back. They really protect some of the sore and pained areas of my foot. If you need a cushioned good hiker and it fits your foot well, these are highly recommended, alas, they just didn't fit me.

Wanted to use this as my everyday shoe for informal work, but ALSO as my travel shoe to international meetings and such. Wanted to be able to travel with ONE pair of shoes -- BUT the orange stripe prevents me from doing this, and I may need to travel with a 2nd pair of neutral looking shoes. This is major hassle because I need a shoe with great cushion like this shoe, but to also pass as informal dress shoe. Wish you had a neutral (not striped) version.

I like the way Hokas generally feel, and have several pairs. In the hiking line, I have these and the higher Tors (Mid), along with the European precursor. These are comfortable and attractive, but not nearly as comfortable as the Mids are. The footbed on the Mids, to me, are uber-comfortable and fit my foot much better. The lower Summits are perfectly good, though, and I am sure will be heavily used. If I could only keep one pair, though, I would keep the Mid Summits.

I am an aging(ed) runner and I need good cushioning in my walking or hiking shoes to ease the discomfort in my knees and ankles. On days I don't run I walk an hour or so and I find I can use these instead of my Bondi's. I have not had them long enough to know: a)how water resistent they are, b) how durable they are, c) how they will hold up on my next trip to Africa. But so far, very good.

I've owned many hiking shoes/boots over the years, but the Hoka Summit is probably the most comfortable to date. Superior cushioning is what Hoka is known for and that is certainly the case with these hiking shoes. However, they are not quite as heavily cushioned as the Stinson and Bandi model running shoes, which I also own. I normally wear a size ten, but ordered a ten-and-a-half to accommodate thicker socks and the fit was just right. I have yet to put the Summit through it's paces on the trail, so the jury is still out on how well they hold up.
