Let's just say I have a little purse issue... SO, I'll tell you the story...I saw this bag a Nordstrom during their end of summer sale. I had been shopping all day and him-hawed around when I spotted this bag. As I set it down, another shopper snatched it up and asked if I wanted it...I told her to buy it and make the decision for me. My MIL and I circled back to check-and low and behold, the bag was GONE (of COURSE it was...Frye, on SALE?!?!). I tried and tried (and TRIED) to get this bag off my mind...it wasn't meant to be-but I was wrong. I decided I had to have it and paid full price from Zappos...and I. LOVE.THIS.BAG. I LOVE it. I get compliments ALL THE TIME and am so glad I finally made the plunge. It is on the heavier side, but the size, compartments and look of the bag FAR outweigh that one little (almost) con!!

I have been hunting for the Perfect handbag. This one almost made it. The cognac antique pull up is just beautiful. It might be my favorite leather wash and color I have ever seen. I love the inner pocket, love the size! I ended up sending this one back for 2 reasons, I just couldn't not justify the price tag, although I think could have gotten over that! And the top is open, and I think ultimately I need a zip top bag. It just didn't feel contained like I needed it to be. Overall, the size is actually a great mid-sized bag, would hold iPad, work stuff, phone. But I need something I can toss and know things aren't going to fall out. And so, the hunt continues...

I had been wanting this bag for months, and finally ordered one. The burgundy color is great, and the style of the bag is just what I wanted, but the bag is very heavy. I didn't put a lot of stuff in it, but the weight when I carried it was impractical for everyday use. I love Frye bags; they are sturdy and the leather quality is good, but they may be too heavy for my needs. Unfortunately, this bag has to go back.

This bag is a BAD design. I loved this bag when I first got it and couldn't wait to see how the leather 'wears' over time. The problem is that the handles were not attached all the way to the top edge so the top edge 'curls' down when the lining pulls with the weight of your things inside. I looks nothing like when I bought it. The quality is fantastic, the leather is gorgeous. I love Frye but hate this design.

I bought this lovely bag to use for work! It fits everything I need; my lunch, wallet, phone, keys, and laptop. I would highly recommend this tote. Not only is it beautiful but its very well made!

It’s stunning! I love the feel, style, and texture. It’s a lot lighter than my Dooney even though it’s almost the same size. I got the matching wallet as well. Not a single complaint. It’s made very well just like the boots.

I must say I thought I would love the Melissa Tote. I love leather handbags, however once I received the bag I was truly disappointed. The handles are very stiff, similar to heavy duty wire. It felt very uncomfortable sitting on my shoulder, I can't image loading it with my items and attempting to carry on my shoulder, it would downright painful. I wanted to see how the bag would look with my items inside, so I began to put my wallet in the bag and the zipper on the inside wouldn't unzip, I was actually concerned that I would rip the zipper away from the fabric. The top edge of the bag had knots, strings and glue stuck to the leather. If all of the above are not enough, I held the bag up to see how it looked with items inside and the leather on the sides of the tote looked horrible. The leather wasn't the same color, it had a dull finish with wrinkles and grooves, quite honestly it looked like an old pair of work boots. I have already started the return process. I refuse to pay almost 400.00 for a bag that is in my opinion defective and no worth the price.

I watched and waited for this purse for a year! After seeing it, no matter what other purse I saw, it didn't measure up to this tote. The leather stops you in your steps and causes you to say "ohhhhh" - the depth is perfect allowing many items to go with you throughout your day without the tote seeming to be crowded, and it can either be carried by your side or slip it onto your shoulder and you feel ready for your day!! When it went on sale, I cheered and clicked!

Great bag-leather is soft and typical of Frye's quality. Room for everything. Wish it had an outside pocket but for the great sale price I was willing to forego the lack of outside pocket. I purchased the khaki color and surprised how much I like it.

This is my second Melisa tote! My first one was red and I sold it on a limb and I have regretted it every since!! This green color is absolutely different! I love it! It’s bag that can get heavy quick but it holds a ton!

This tote is my very first Frye anything, and I absolutely love it! (I grabbed it while on sale, which is a bonus!) The grey leather looks and smells delicious! This tote is large, pretty heavy and the handles are somewhat stiff like noted in other reviews so I gave it 4 stars for comfort, but it's still an awesome bag, and the more the leather ages, the better it will get. I had looked at smaller Frye bags but the cool lining and the pockets sold me on this one. The middle zipper pocket is padded, the wall zipper pocket is very roomy, and the two slip pockets are perfect for my Note 7 phone and sunglasses. The key holder is a plus too! If you're looking for a beautiful, durable tote, check this one out! And as always, no online service surpasses Zappos!

I purchased this bag in the wine color. It didn't disappoint. It is a very nice looking bag. I love the pockets within the bag which helps in organization (no more digging forever, trying to find lip balm). In comparison to my other Frye bag, this one feels much lighter. I am giving it 4 stars only because of the straps. They are quite stiff and slip off my shoulder. I hope the straps soften with use. Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase.

This bag is beautiful BUT it doesn't zip close, have bottom studs (feet) and there is no center divider. It is rich in color. The leather is very nice. I wish it had all the features I am looking for in a great bag. It came close to what I am looking for...

Bag is too heavy empty ! Rounded shoulder straps dig into shoulder causing great discomfort...straps should be flat for comfort. Too bad !

I am a purse collector; I have a closet full of designer bags but I always go back to this one bc of its beautiful design and great construction. It holds my laptop and all my essentials and looks great doing it. Beautiful, rich leather. I see some reviews say it is heavy, but that’s honestly not some thing I noticed. I’ve been carrying it now for two years and it still looks new.

A little heavy but most leather bags are. This is really nice - well made and great color that goes with most everything - very roomy too!

I received this for mothers day about 5 years ago. It is a great purse it still looks amazing I use all the time. I get compliments on it regularly. I wish they sold it in black I would definitely buy it!

I was looking for a purse that had divisions Not just a big bag that everything rolled around and you can't find anything when you need it. This is the PERFECT solution. 3 sections plus inside side pockets. I do not look like the fumbling blonde at the checkout any longer! Very Happy!

Love it! Really high quality look and feel. So much richer looking than the Tori Burch bags. I looked a long time for a fabulous black bag and this is it!

I've had this bag for a few weeks now and it is already getting better with age. It was a little stiff at first but that's to be expected of good quality leather. After I conditioned it and broke it in, it's perfect! And the color is perfect! I do wish the handles were a little longer so the bag could sit on my shoulder though.

Great bag for everyday use. Room for my IPad and a book or kindle, which was what I was looking for. The leather smells great as well. Only small problem is this is not quite a shoulder bag with heavy winter coats, but since I am small, it is ok. Beautiful Frye craftsmanship.

This is my second Frye bag and I am happy to say that I am just as pleased with this bag as with my first!! The quality is outstanding and the style is so stunning and functional!!

I love this bag! It was a gift from my husband. I will say, the handles are stiff... if you think they’ll break in, they won’t, I’ve had mine 5 years and the handles still wouldn’t soften, hence the 4 star review. I ended up taking my bag to a cobbler and had him remove the interior part of the handle and replace with something softer, and had him add a cross body strap...now this bag is perfect!
