After about a year of use I'm happy to report that feather leakage has been minimal and this piece is more versatile than I anticipated.
For one, it looks great and it's warm and wind-proof construction has allowed it to become my daily outer layer for work in the winter. I live in Winnipeg and even on the super cold days I can get by with this and a mid-layer for 15 or so minute walks outside.
Not only that, but it works as a pretty good mid-layer underneath a shell for snowboarding. The fleece side panels are stretchy and breathable which allows for more freedom of movement and breathability than my Atom AR. I'll still favor the Atom for super cold days on the slopes but the Rico fills a nice void in my layering system.

I had the old version and now own the revised version. There are a couple differences. The old version was made of a softer material, and the revised shacket is more of your typical rip-stop fabric you'll find on many puffers. I preferred the feel of the old shacket, but that's about it.
My old version had the issue of it leaking down like crazy. I have not experienced the leaking down on the revised version, and the fabric seems to be a bit tougher and more substantial, which I like. It also seems to be a bit more water resistant. The revised version also seems to be just a tad more fitted.
Think this is a great jacket for keeping you warm around town in the 30s - 50s F. It could also be used as a mid layer for colder temps. Happy with the updates!

So I'm a bit of an outlier here, it seems. Mine is a first-generation, if that makes any difference - it is that Carhartt-looking tan color from a few years back, but still going strong.
I love this shirt/jacket. I'm a ski patroller, and wear this on cold days as an intermediate layer - Base Layer -> Shacket -> Outer Puffy -> Shell. When it warms, I can take off the outer puffy layer and work with the Shacket as the mid-layer. I like the articulated arms, and the lack of feathers on the sides - makes for a perfect mid-layer with a great range of motion.
I've had no issues with feathers shedding, zippers or anything of the sort. It has been washed numerous times, and always has come back into shape - even after running through the dryer versus hang drying.
The only real issue is that once its wet from sweating, it doesn't really dry well. But then that was never likely engineered into it.
It definitely gets some "that's a cool jacket" comments when wearing as an outer layer, and maybe I'm jaded by being cold a lot, but its been fine as a jacket at or below freezing temperatures. But then again, I don't need a hat or gloves until around 25 degrees either.

I have wanted this coat for quite a while and could never pull the trigger due to the lack of good reviews on it. So here goes; For starters its urban wear. I'd wear this around town and that's about it. Not because it couldn't handle it, it simply looks better with jeans or business casual. And it lacks a few things that outdoor purists would moan and complain about. First the cuffs do not have any elastic in them. Which is nice if you're sporting a watch. And honestly if your wrists are cold, buy some gloves. Also no bottom cinch cord. Again, it wouldn't work with the style of this jacket. Not a make or break for me.
Fit, this was my biggest concern with this coat. I own the following Arc'teryx jackets; Kappa, Cerium LT, Thorum AR, Atom LT, Kappa, Caden and a Gamma MX. No, I don't like my money. And yes, I have an issue... The Rico runs somewhere between an Atom and the Thorum. Fitted but not confining. The sides have the stretch fleece like an Atom and it doesn't restrict movement at all. I'm 5'11" 165lbs and the medium fit great. As for warmth, walking around with gloves and a scarf on I was comfortable at 32* with a slight wind. It won't come near a Thorum or Cerium in terms of warmth, but it will keep you warm while not making you look like a techy gear head.

I wanted a mid-weight down jacket that would go equally well when I am dressed up or with jeans. This coat (grey) does this perfectly.
The fit of the jacket is superb as well as the material. I didn't like the boxy cut of shiny look of the "other" brands.

Just the right extra warmth layer for when it gets a bit cold or windy, in a relaxed but fashionable style. Rather than a zip, poppers make it so easy to pull on and off or open up when you get indoors, so handy when rushing around town and just as suitable on a brisk country walk, under a shell if the weather turns worse.
I've got other down jackets that are just as warm and practical, but this makes a distinct contemporary statement.

Great looking and warm jacket for around town/city. Not built for really any type of athletic task however that his not what it was made for. I'm a tall guy at 6"4 and it fit me well which doesn't happen often. Purchased size XL. Couple issues. The buttons on the front are very cheap looking and they worry me. Also it would be nice to have a zipper incorporated/hidden behind the buttons. Mainly for keeping the cold/wind out. I am also noticing the down penetrating through the outer layers here and there. Other than that extremely happy.

I really liked the warmth and style of this jacket and wanted to keep it. Unfortunately, despite the side panels, it fits a lot like a blazer, with tightness in the back when extending the arms. I buy technical gear because I can't stand the fit of blazers, so I returned the jacket. If the patterning is more like the Atom, and I could move the arms about without the blazer tightness, I'd wear this thing all the time. So very close Arcteryx! I would definitely buy again if next years version changes the patterning or adds some stretchy panels to the back.
If you are used to blazers and they don't bother you, then this is a great jacket!

Generally very impressed with the design and quality of arc'teryx products. I've previously bought several items for outdoor use and this is the first time I picked up something in the 'lifestyle' category.
The design is solid. Pockets, buttons, coverage, and side panels are well placed. Comfortable for movement. Trim enough for layering.
Sadly, I'm quite disappointed in the quality of stitching and fabric. The jacket sheds down from day 1 and hasn't slowed down. Haven't washed it once and it covers everything I wear over and under it in little bits of down. The inner fabric is very comfortable. The outer fabric, which I think is the same, is too delicate and will rip easily. Clearly for 'urban' use, but also lacks the quality of production I've come to expect.

An original and great looking jacket with good warmth and not cumbersome as some down jackets can be. Certainly not considered a technical jacket in any way so don't treat as such. Fabric is not up to usual company standards; time will tell. That being said - love it.

Though I really like the fit and style of this jacket I have to admit that the construction and way feathers shed have led me to question the durability and quality of Arcteryx products.
Considering the price point, I would not recommend this product.

I love the jacket, it's stylish and warm in 30 degree weather in urban setting.
However it shed feather like crazy, within a few days of urban usage my jacket weigh like half of original because every time I put the jacket on or off they shed. Feather will keep popping out from every seam line. Is that the design or bad construction? Who knows.
I contacted the retailer I bought from, and after several calls with manager they finally accepted return. Considering the price ARC'TERYX should use better technology to keep the feather where they belong! Disappointing.

great looking and fitting jacket. lightweight and very comfortable. unique collar. A month after loving/wearing this jacket, which I bought at the store in Seattle, I noticed down popping through the shell constantly. At first it was just a feather every day or so, then it quickly became constant. I've owned several less expensive down jackets like this in recent years, but none have had the feathers come through the material like this. It sheds like the first down vests made in the early 80's. it's embarrassing to have people picking the feathers off you like a sick chicken. When I went back to the store to show to associates who sold it to me, they said they had had some complaints and suspected the down was coming our due to the all the stitching on the shacket. They told me they had similar complaints from other customers but acknowledged this was first season for this particular item. I still wear the jacket and its very comfortable, but for the price I paid, and the quality I've loved in other Arcteryx products, this one is really disappointing.

very great looking jacket and warm! I got a size small from Acrteryx store Toronto, im just 5'6 ft tall, fits a bit larger one me which is great because i can wear thicker sweater underneath for a much colder weather and be super comfortable.
I was very happy with this jacket but had to return it couple of days after, because the outer material is not as durable as i thought it would for its price, it gets punctured quite easily and small down feathers seem to sneak out from stitches/thread holes now and then! will keep an eye for a version 2.0 of this jacket to purchase in the future!

Great fit and style however it sheds its down filling from all its seams.
I bought the black version which only emphasises the issue.
I have various down filled items from different manufacturers and yes, you get an occasional feather which is fair enough however this is obviously a design flaw.
