Engineering and design marvel! The lighter grey material is supple suede, which means the boot tongue and area above the metatarsals are flexible. This gives you extra flex at your ankle and where your toes meet your foot. My foot is tall at the ball of the foot, and the suede allows for stretch. It would stretch sideways for a bunion too, if you had one. The rest of the boot has a much stiffer, more durable leather, which keeps the heels and toes from scuffing and provides support. The front of the boots has a u-shaped lace hidden in the accent strip, which allows the laces to tighten along the entire opening, not just at the points where the lace crosses. If you spend a few seconds customizing the lacing, there are no gaps. The wedge is hollow in places, making it unexpectedly lightweight. It is contoured for excellent arch support. There's no "clomping" feeling when you walk. The sole has excellent grip and the shoe is very well balanced and stable. I am 5'1 and I have about 2" of clearance from the top of the boot to the bottom of my knee. The boots have an elegant profile and easily lace over skinny jeans as worn by someone with athletic legs. Since the laces are adjustable, they will tighten down nicely for wear with a skirt. Before they arrived, I was freaking out because I paid full price, and about more than I have on any other pair of shoes. I am heartened to know that they appear to be the best footwear (short of ski boots) that I have ever owned.

These boots are absolutely great! I normally wear a 9W so in fashion shoes and boots I have to get a 9½ or a 10. I originally purchased these in a 9½ which worked for me in the length, but I found to be too narrow. I went up to the 10 and they are more comfortable with room for thicker socks. I have 16" calfs and these fit comfortably. The laces allow you to adjust for what you are wearing (jeans or leggings or tights) or if your calf is larger. These are great looking boots, perfect for damp, cold weather and light snow.

So gorgeous and comfortable. The only thing I am worried about is the laces. I have been wearing them around the house to break them in and I find I have to really tighten the laces to keep boot bulge to a minimum, and I hope they don't eventually break! I don't think it will be easy to find replacement laces.

I live at a ski resort -- lots of snow. They are gorgeous, great tread, lightweight, flexible, and comfy innersoles. I usually only buy comfort brand shoes, but these are so cute I had to try! I ordered 1 size larger to fit winter socks, but I think they run about a half size large. Can't wait to wear them when it gets cold!

Unlike other Sorels I own this pair is true to size for my size 10 B width foot. My calves are thin so I have to cinch the laces closely with thin socks. With thicker socks they are even better so if you have larger calves I think these would be very comfortable. The heel height is comfortable and the sole looks to be very good on slush and snowy pathways. I wouldn't use them for deep snow with slush due to the lacing but that's what the rubber boots are for. These are stylish without looking like I'm wearing a clunky, snow boot but stylish and still offers the sole needed for good traction. I ordered the slate and it will go with brown, tan, black and grey. Very comfortable and fun!

Absolutely in love with these boots. Have worn them nearly every day since they arrived. No break in time needed, they felt great right out of the box. Received numerous compliments on them. Love the way they look, and how functional they are.

Love these boots! The leather quality is really nice. The gray is a perfect shade of grey, not a weird almost brown like some can be. As others mentioned, there is good room in the toe box so your toes don't feel squished and it is surprising that a tall wedge could be SO comfortable to walk in!! The style is a little funky, not typical of all the other boots out there. I love that they're unique. Don't love the bright orange stitching on parts of the boot, however. I almost always wear a 9 1/2, which is what I ordered, but they definitely ran big. Even thick socks wouldn't have filled all space. My foot slid all over. So surprisingly then ordered a 9.

These boots are awesome. I have literally worn them three times since I've bought them - work, outside in rain, and in nice weather. That being said, I have gathered a following of random women everywhere I go asking me where I bought them. Also, in all three situations they have been super comfortable all day. The mud I got on them at the pumpkin farm was super easy to wipe off. Sorel is awesome, they are worth the money and more "grown-up"" than a lot of the Uggs I have.

I am in love! I ordered Cate the Great yesterday and I am wearing them today! These boots are sexy, stylish and so comfortable! I wear a 7½M in most shoes and 7½M is a perfect fit in these boots with nice room in the toe box. I have small calves and it is hard to find boots with shafts that work for me but the laces make these customizable! These will be great with dresses, leggings, and skinny jeans! These boots are C R A Z Y in the best way. I have been eyeing them ever since I missed out on the Joan of Arctic Wedge tall boot and after reading all of the rave reviews about comfort, I decided to go for it and purchase them. Holy. Cow. They are the most comfortable boots I have tried since my Ugg Classics. I was skeptical despite the rave reviews, but as soon as I put them on and stood up, I couldn't even tell the boot has a heel at all. Total comfort. I normally wear 6.5 or 7 and I ordered the 6.5 and the fit is perfect. The Dark Brown color is beautiful, the leather is supple, they are so stylish. Seriously. I am actually trying to figure out how to talk my husband into letting me get another pair in Black. If you are thinking about ordering these boots - do it. You won't be sorry (except that you will then want one of the other colors!) Now, if only the temps in Colorado would drop below 85 degrees (in late September!) I could wear these beautiful boots. :-)

LOVE this boot! I normally wear a size 8.5-9 and I ordered the 9 in this boot. This boot is very comfortable, excellent arch support!

I love these boots! My first pair of Sorel boots. They aren't my usual style but I took a chance and I'm so very pleased. I'm a size 11 and they fit very well. They have a high toe box; much toe wiggle room. I would definitely say they are true to size. Wearing thicker socks shouldn't be an issue. Comfortable. They are higher than I thought but not so high that they are uncomfortable. The hidden wedge is great. I'm about 8 months removed from bunion surgery and these feel comfortable, even with the heel. If you wear an orthotic insert, the insole is removable also. I'm ordering another pair!

I love the boot, but when it put it on, I pulled up on the tongue of the boot and the top half of the tongue part came off, it was glued on! Extremely disappointed that such a good brand made such an expensive boot and was put together so cheaply.

The Sorel Cath the Great Wedge is absolutely beautiful, stylish and supremely comfortable. Sorel was able to make these boots fashionable and functionable as well, keeping you warm and dry while looking fierce at the same time. Take a bow Sorel.

So, I purchased these in Black in Size 11. I am a size 11 on my right foot and about a 10.25 on the left. Weird I know, but that's just how it works for me. First day, tons of compliments. I wish the shoes I had a side zip so, I actually wouldn't have to loosen, tighten laces to get in and out of them but on a good note the leather is super nice and I love the suede. The wedge is high (3-4inches) but doesn't bother me. After wearing them for a day, I noticed they are looser than most 11s I have worn even wearing thick socks. My feet did slide a little forward but nothing that made them feel bad. There is a little pinching in the curve from the shin to foot where the laces go. I can't seem to adjust it but again nothing that makes the shoe bad. I like these boots and so glad they are so cool.

I have these same boots in the shorter ankle height version and I love them, these seem to be just as comfortable! I wore them all over Europe and even on our ski trip! The tread on bottom keeps them from being slick in the snow and my feet were never cold or wet! True to size with plenty of room in toe box!

These boots are amazingly comfortable, stylish, and have a sole that will be great for rain or snow. The first day I wore them I got 3 compliments! The only problem is the laces are very long so I'm unsure how to keep it tied and not have floppy loops. Great buy!

After reading all the other reviews, I decided to get these boots. I love them!! They are so comfortable and so cute! They look high in the heel, but, are actually easy to wear. I just love them! I wear an 8 and ordered an 8. Fit like a glove. Btw, I am 56. So, don't be afraid to try these. Zappos has the best return policy and shipping.

I just received these boots and I love them. The leather is so soft and and the footbed is tremendously comfortable. They run generously but true to size and are perfect for everyone because of the adjustably of the leg shaft. They can be worn by those with a wider leg or a thinner leg. Now it just needs to get cold!

These boots are beautiful and comfortable. I wear a 9½W and I ordered the 10 and it was perfect. I had a little room to spare for thicker socks and the boot was really comfortable. The material in the shaft is stretchy so it is comfortable around the calf. However, it might be tight on larger calfs - mine are 15" and I rarely have trouble with high boots. If calf size is an issue go with the Sorel Joan of Arctic wedge - it is the same shoe just shorter and equally as stylish and comfortable.

Love these boots! I purchased the Joan of Arctic Wedge Mid Boot last year. I lived in them all season. The Cate the Great Boot is a welcome addition: fabulous with skirts, leggings or pants. If you want comfort and style, these boots are for you.

I am so excited to wear this boot! You will not be sorry with this purchase. This boot has great support and very well made. I usually wear a 6 1/2 in heels, and a 6 in boots. I ordered the 6 and it fits perfect!

These boots are great! Can't believe how comfortable they are. A little pricey, but I would recommend them.

I've had these boots for nearly 3 years now, and they have held up great. I wear them on average once per week or so. They are comfortable, stylish, AND waterproof (or maybe resistant, I don't remember, but I step in puddles with no issue)! I wanted a pair of tall boots to replace a little fancier version I had with a wedge heal, but with that "covered" heal look. These were not exactly what I was expecting to buy, but turned out to be even better because they are more versatile with a look that can be more casual if needed. They look great under jeans/pants or over leggings, which is how I mostly use them. They have just enough heal, to look nice but not be uncomfortable walking or standing. They are tight, but not too tight when laced up that you can't move. Love that I can wear them in the rain too and not have to worry. These are worth the investment. I expect them to last me for several more years to come.

i love these boots and get compliments on them frequently. They are so functional in cold, wet weather, and still stylish! They are extremely comfortable too!
