Fits true to size, the style is sharp, and so far the fall weather it has worked just fine, looking forward to seeing how it functions in the winter.

The jacket was as shown online, and is working out ok. It was intended to be used for casual wear, and also for golf on cool days. However, the shape of the jacket is kind of loose on the bottom, and it might not work out for a swing. The cuffs do close with velcro, so that is good, eliminating too-long sleeves.

Excellent jacket. Looks great feels great. It was just too big for the person I got it for. Honestly probably my fault, had to send it back the other day. But good coat for anyone. Just order the right size

Not as heavy as I expected

I'm 6'9" and 340 lb with a very long torso, very long arms and broad shoulders. My build is described by many as bear like/burly. I've found 4xlt to be a bit short, but I was expecting that. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shoulders were not tight, and that the pockets were to my liking. I purchased this jacket for extensive outdoor use in the state of New York. I'm an avid outdoorsmen, hunting, fishing, hiking and camping nearly every week despite what the weather conditions might be. I'm looking forward to testing this jacket in the coming months as I head into the mountains for an extended stay in a bushcraft camp, but as of right now, I'm rather satisfied with it thus far. I only wish the back was a bit longer to keep my back covered when I bend over.

The garment arrived ok, but in the front had a mark, like a pinch. May be it was consequence of mishandlig or so... it is a pity because the jacket is beautiful. Related to the size, I think I wrongly t00k the measures . I should buy one size smaller.

Columbia has changed their sizing from years ago. I have 2 older softshell jackets in XL that fit me perfectly. I tried the Ascender in XL, fits fine in the torso, but tight in the biceps & across the shoulders & upper back. Returned & tried 2X, still slightly tight in the arms & back, but acceptable - however the sleeves are way too long & the torso is a tent, could fit 2 of me inside. They now are using a much more modern "fitted" cut - it's doesn't work for me, returned them both...

Fit is perfect & sleeves just right (ordered tall XL). The Velcro on cuffs is bothersome and feels cheap. I would rather do without but I get that it is to get tight fit on wrist if desired.

Even though it's still warm outside and have not worn the jacket yet, Columbia requested I give it a review. It fits and hangs in my closet as expected.

Good quality, but this coat is definitely dark green. It appeared to be brown on the website and I was anticipating "peat moss" to be a brown color.

I love Columbia products, and this jacket works so well for my guy. He's 6'9", and nothing fits him. This jacket was perfect. I don't know if it just did it to me, but I ordered the jacket in the dark mountain color, which is awesome, except there was only a picture of the back of the jacket. When I got it, the jacket was the perfect color but all of the detailing on the front was red. I wouldn't have picked that color had I known that, I would've definitely still went with this jacket and this brand, just a different color. So a different picture would have been nice so I wouldn't have to deal with the exchanging of the product.

A little disappointed that this fit so snug for 3X size. I have other Columbia jackets in 3X that feel good, but this runs small.

I am 6'2" and while this jacket fits in the arms, the torso is really, really long. I realize it's a tall size, but after two wearings, I just don't like how far it goes down my waist. Should have bought regular size. So, if you're in between sizes, go for the regular.

Was hoping for a liner that was fleece or warmer. Was replacing an existing jacket from Columbia but could not find it on the site

I liked everything about this jacket, but the arms are too short. Sadly, it's going back and I can only recommend if extended size is not needed.

I have purchased 3 of previously and was happy with the fit and quality. This current version is oversized. Also, they have replaced the dual adjustable hem drawcord to a single on the right side only.

Extremely lightweight, which can be good or bad, depending on the weather. Wind goes right through you if you're not sufficiently layered, so it's not a particularly warm coat. Also, very shoddy construction. Washed when received and worn twice before noticing giant hole in left pocket. Had my wallet in there and was VERY fortunate it didn't fall out before I noticed the hole! It's not a tear either, it's an actual defect in the sewing, which is even more disappointing. Will probably never buy another Columbia product with this kind of cheap workmanship, especially for the price paid!

I have had another version of the Ascender jacket for almost 10 years. I am very disappointed that the zipper on this one was of very poor quality and broke. I think the jacket would be an overall good jacket, but the broken zipper and being unable to return it it a big disappointment for me. I appreciate Columbia's usual attention to quality, but this time it just wasn't there.

I like the jacket but a XLtall is not tall . I think that the sleeves are to short. The length of the sleeves on the XXLtall are perfect but the rest of the jacket is to big. But if your short this is would be a very nice jacket to have.

I purchased a 4x. It fits like a large. Very disappointing.

Purchased online 4/9/22. Arrived 4/15/22. Zipper split 4/26/22 after wearing about three times.

I ordered this product at the end of Jan. Order Number 210077371 Been in Mableton, GA since 2/7

Dont know why i didnt like it. Just didnt feel right.
