ASICS COMPANY: I am so mad at you. I've worn Kayanos now for 10 years or so and the WIDE ones are suddenly too tight, gave me blisters the first time I wore them FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. Other reviewers said so but I didn't believe it. The wide are like narrow + size. Why change a perfect sneaker? So disappointed but I won't return them because I hope I can break them in, you know, like a cheaper sneakers has to be. Booooo Asics. Don't buy these sneakers if you need wide. Buyer beware.

These are the most excellent walking sneakers for me! I have extensive health issues with my entire spine, legs and feet. I live in chronic nerve, bone and muscle pain daily. I can't really get out much, especially to go shoe shopping. These sneakers are remarkable. The search is finally over! This girl is stocking up! Nothing is more important for me than having the right pair of walking sneakers that I can depend on for total comfort. They actually give me pain relief by at least 2 levels, that's how much they matter. Love! As always, Zappos can't be beat for shopping on line. They are very generous with their time and they make good on any exchanges. Love them.

First, THANK YOU ZAPPOS! You are amazing. I have lots of problem with my feet. I walk 5 to 6 miles a day and need lots of toe room so have been wearing Brooks Addiction walker for years. Although they are great shoes, they are not exactly fashionable... I really wanted something more attractive and updated that matched my style but that was comfy enough for me to still do my workout. I ordered approximately 20 shoes and all hurt my feet, non worked out. And then one of the Zappos' staff suggested these and magic. THEY ARE AMAZING and the best part is that they are cute. I did a 6 mile walk yesterday and kept them on the rest of the day till bedtime with no pain. So I immediately ordered 2 more pairs just in case ASICS stops the 22. I will say that the Black ones run a half size smaller for some reason but the Blue are perfect. Also note, although I do not have wide feet, I ordered the wide for toe comfort and they are perfect... BEST walking shoes I have ever had. They are worth every penny. THANK YOU Zappos for allowing me to drive you crazy with my returns and having the BEST customer service. I FOUND MY PERFECT WALKING SHOES. I highly recommend these.

Hurrah! You had me at "they run narrow." Toe boxes have gotten entirely too roomy for me in the past few years. The soles are firmer and less cushion-y giving this shoe better support than the Kayano 21. The Kayano 21's wore out quickly. I know I put a lot of miles on running shoes, but I have always been able to get 3 months out of a pair. The plastic that the 21's were shot with flattened out after only 2 months. I do wish I had gone a half size up.

Very comfortable, well-cushioned. I wear these for running - training for a marathon. Have worn them on a few long runs now and have been very happy. However, they do run narrow. I have previously worn the Kayano 19s (the 20 & 21 did not fit as well in the arches) and these are significantly more narrow than the 19. I usually wear an 8.5M in regular shoes and a 9.5M in running shoes to give my toes some extra room. I had to exchange for the 9.5W in these. They are now wide enough, but I actually wouldn't mind if they were even a little wider. Overall, a great shoe!

I wear the Kayano 21 and believed there was no better shoe. But I gave the new Kayano 22 version a try, and did not care for it the first time I tried it on. The softer mesh sides did not seem as supportive, and my plantars fasciitis problem did not seem as happy on my first try. But I decided to give it another chance and ended up falling in love with this shoe. I still put my Profoot plantars orthotic in for my foot problems, and it gives me the perfect supportive shoe. The Kayano 22 is narrower than the 21, but the mesh hugs my foot in a positive way. The arch support is great, and the shoe helps to correct the pronation issues. I run (or jog/walk), and I work 10 hours a week (for fun) on a concrete floor. Both of these things have contributed to my plantars fasciitis problem, but I do pretty well for my 63 years. As a retired science teacher, I can tell you that comparing siblings is never a good idea. Though related, they bring different qualities and characeristics to the table. The same descriptor applies to sibling shoes. Kayano 22 does differ from Kayano 21, but don't compare - contrast and give the new kid a chance to demonstrate what it can do. Sometimes, change needs a little time to grow on you. I think the Kayano 22 has wonderful and comfortable support, hugs my foot a little tighter, and keeps my foot from slipping in the wider toe box of the Kayano 21. I am between an 8-8.5 but always purchase an 8.5 in my running shoes. The 8 would be too short, and you never want your toes hitting the end of your shoes for running. The mesh sides of the 22 still allow me plenty of room for my plantars fasciitis orthotics without being crowded. I like the hug on my foot. Super looking shoe in the black flash with coral. Try this shoe before dismissing it because it is not just like its older sister Kayano 21. Zappos rocks and is superior at customer service.

VERY disappointed. I have been wearing this model of Asics for years! At least 10. They are now narrow in the toe box! I returned to regular for wide thinking I might need wide. The wide are too wide for me, but the regular are now too narrow. I had read the reviews and most people mentioned that they were too narrow. I do not have fat feet....in fact used to wear narrow shoes in my youth (long gone)...so I am really perplexed with a show changing that drastically. You have taken a great shoe and redesigned or went to a cheaper manufacturer! Not happy!

I went up 1/2 size and purchased a regular and a wide width after reading reviews that it ran narrow. I couldn't tell the difference between the 2 shoes when I had them on, so I kept the regular width shoes. They are very cushiony and feel great when I run!

These shoes run a full size too small. If you normally wear a 8½ order a size 9½.

First of all: I love Gel Kayanos. I am a loyal customer and while the fit has fluctuated over the last 9-10 yrs, it is still the best shoe I've found, before and after diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. I use these for running, walking, and elliptical, as well as around the house for cleaning and housework. Second: The black/coral runs SMALL. I read the reviews and wasn't sure whether this was the black/black but either way, I went ahead and ordered my usual 6 1/2, and could barely get my foot inside. BELIEVE IT! Fortunately Zappos is so awesome that they now let me exchange for the size up so it was only a couple days' turnaround to get the new pair, and the size 7 fit fine. I really wanted the black/coral because I think it's super cute and understated, but not boring. They are quite a narrow fit, which works for me. I have narrow feet and have actually ordered the narrow width in the past, but I did read others' reviews saying these ran narrow so I just went with the B-width in these and it fits like a AA. As others have mentioned, the Gel-Kayanos do tend to stretch out with time and some models have run a little wide and loose in my opinion, so I think these are perfect. If you have wide feet, this shoe might not work for you. I don't know if the width varies with any other colors. If you're ordering black/coral, save yourself the time and order a half size up. These are the most comfortable Gel Kayanos I've owned so far. The cushion is unbelievable. I used them for a treadmill run as my test-out, and had zero foot pain afterwards. These shoes rock! Others I've tried since having RA had left my feet so sore that I had to elevate and ice them after exercise. These are worth every penny. No need for replacement insoles. And Zappos, I love you! :)

I have very difficult feet to fit. My bunions and arthritis in my toes makes shoe buying very unpleasant even with sneakers. I tried three different sneaker companies to find one that felt right. I did go up half a size in these sneakers from 9½W to 10W and they are super comfortable. I can walk all day. The arch support is great and room in the toe box. I ended up buying a second pair to save for later this year.

Alas, foot issues mean I must be very picky about shoe comfort. For me, this is THE BEST shoe I've ever owned for running, for walking, and for being on my feet and running errands all day. I have a wide forefoot and narrow heel. I need arch support and cushioning. I have a pair in black for winter, white for summer, and just got a pair of blue ones, which look good enough with jeans.

Be Aware!! Have worn gel Kayano size ten for years-these did not fit and feel very different. They have changed the style considerably enough for me to change brands. Gave this pair away. Not saying it's a bad shoe-just not for me anymore!!

Was extremely disappointed with the fit of this new style - seems like some shortcuts were taken - I have worn this style for years with great success - the new style is much more narrow throughout the toe box! The toe style is not nearly as rounded as previous styles. I will be searching for an alternative shoe.

I have run in Asics Gel Kayano for 8 years without a problem (I buy a new pair in the same size annually, normal width) and this is the first year the shoe did not fit as it was too narrow in the toe box and is very uncomfortable. It appears that the design as changed for the Kayano 22- very disappointing purchase. I cannot wear these shoes for running anymore.

I've been working out for over 35 years, and these are the worst sneakers I've ever worn (and I was running even before sneakers were a big deal.) I've been wearing the Gel Kayano for the last 4 years. I have triple A narrow feet. The 22 version (in narrow), were so narrow in the toe that I developed a bunion on my right foot. i should have listened to my feet, but thought that they would be OK if I switched to thinner socks. Now I have a bunion which causes pain when I wear any of my shoes ( or just brush up against something) and nothing seems to ease the pain. I don't understand why designers feel the need to so call "upgrade" every year when they already have a great product.

I am always on my feet because I'm a waitress. I had a lot of pain at the end of my shifts so I decided to give these a try. I'm so happy I did even though the price is pretty high, I no longer have pain when I end my shift.

These Gel Kayanos are the most comfy, cushioned running shoes around. I do not usually use them for running, but for speed walking and while traveling. I have an incredibly narrow foot and they fit the bill. This is my second pair of Gel Kayano 22s. Would purchase again!
