I have taken these boots on several hikes now under varying weather conditions, including rain and snow. Overall, the boot is great for both approaches and ascents, and is both light weight yet constructed really tough for brutal, rocky terrain. I find them very comfortable. The boot underperformed in several ways. I got caught in torrential downpour and the boots took on a significant amount of water (I was not wearing gaitors), such that it was like walking in two swishing puddles down the entire mountain. The boots were totally saturated, and despite removing them twice on my descent, they were difficult to drain due to the absorbency of the liner once saturated. Once home, I attempted to dry the boot with an air fan, but because the liners are not removable and have a narrow opening, they are difficult to ventilate, such that my boots now have a mildew smell because they never fully dried before I stored them. Also, on another recent hike, I slipped into a slushy creek bed and dunked the boots into icy water (this time I had gaitors on, which helped). Here, they performed a bit better, but allowed some water in through the liner. What happens is if water gets over the boot's outer and seeps down along the liner, eventually it will penetrate the liner. The foot stays comfortable, but not 100% dry. I think Arc'teryx should re-design the boot in the future, making the outer a bit higher up the toe to prevent water from entering easily, and making the liner fully removable to allow better ventilation and drying. I still really like my boot, but they will definitely require more maintenance on my end in ensuring they are fully dry after each hike because they are not impermeable under tougher weather conditions.

I bought these boots to hike the Juan De Fuca trail on Vancouver Island. I broke them in with a 5k hike before heading out on the 47KM trail. They lasted not even the first hike before they started to show tons of ware and tear. By the end of my hike where my toe creases with my foot was all pealing off the boot entirely and continuing to crack down the side. Would not recommend these boots for any sort of long distance hiking.

I love everything Arcteryx, so it pains me to leave such a poor review, but I bought these when they first came out a few years ago and have been on some serious hikes with them (e.g., The North Coast Trail). While they are super lightweight, they were almost too flexible at times, especially on cobblestone beaches with a pack on. They need a firmer base, you can literally fold the boot in half. Great for lighter, vertical climbing but not ideal for back country trekking across varied terrain. They are insanely waterproof, which made them awesome for hiking around in Iceland in the spring with all the waterfalls and snow, but they get really hot and sweaty and you can't remove the insole to wash them. So after a few hikes in all that gortex, they smell pretty bad and there isn't much you can do about it. I prefer to use more breathable water resistant boots and gaiters in wet conditions. Despite the heat that gets trapped in them, I have never once got a blister while hiking in them.

These otherwise fantastic boots have a serious issue when they get older. The elastic band on the top of the sock stretches, and it functions like a funnel for debris, making the boot completely useless. I won't be buying another pair.

I've had my bora 2s now for nearly 11 months only light use maybe 2-3x per week light trail hikes mostly dog parks etc.. The waterproofness of these boots is questionable to say the least the liner just gets waterlogged it soaks up water like a sponge it's a pretty bad design flaw. Also one of my boots has a issue with its seam, the goretex liner is starting to show significant signs of wear, and the outsole has started to separate from the base of the left boot. not really what I would expect for the price considering it's essentially materials from china manufactured in China then you stamp a hefty price tag and call it "high quality" well done boys..

I was disappointed in the boot. Although I was excited about the gortex liner concept the boot itself was overwhelming uncomfortable. These were the only boots I've ever gotten blisters from wearing. I like the stiff feel, but I think that's a factor of the sever heel slippage.
