Love this gorgeous bag! The red clay color is stunning and is a red-brown. It definitely has red in it, but it’s not an overwhelming red. I see a lot of brown in it and it’s perfect for fall, though I’m already using it in July. The short strap works fine for me, and will improve as the strap softens and as the bag also softens up and slouches a bit. It feels pretty lightweight for a thick leather bag. The leather scratches easily, but this is pretty standard for Frye leathers. They are meant to look weathered, and the scratches blend in over time as you use the bag. The interior has a zip pocket and two slip pockets, which is good for me. My only complaint is with how Frye finishes their stitching. The ends of the threads are finished in a way that makes them rough and they can snag clothes with a loose weave. However, if you cut the end of the thread off, it could start unraveling. This is annoying and Frye needs to find a better way to finish their stitching. Otherwise I love the bag and may get it in another color. It’s casual but I can get away with it for work in a business casual office most days.
