Just finished six and a half months finishing the AT and this pack delivered from start to finish. I have the Medium and as my waist size diminished the adjustable belt worked as promised. The waist band stayed as tight as I wanted it. No matter how much weight I carried the pack shifted the weight to my hips and made the load seem light. The anti-gravity system worked great and there were times I was able to hike for hours on end with no pain or discomfort through the shoulders. That's a statement I can't make for any other pack I've owned. The pack shows a lot of wear after six months on the trail but everything still works like brand new. I love this pack and won't go back!

Really enjoying this bag - like any core piece, you need to get used to it and make it your own as it breaks in, especially with a bag that offers so much support, suspension, and waist belt robustness. For me, this is the perfect bag - it's well built, has enough bells and whistles, but is still minimal. The suspension system actually works and I love the heavy duty waist belt padding, super comfortable and fitted once is molds to your body. I realize I'm asking the impossible for such well built bag, however I do wish it was lighter - you're starting with close to 5 pounds on your back with an empty Atmos. I also like how simple the bag is - I can fit an overnight bag, sleeping pad and sleeping bag in the bottom section no problem. I can put food and clothing in the main compartment with room to spare and leave the tent on the outside. I don't forsee a 5-7 + day solo trip posing any problems with this bag. One feature that I really appreciate (and that's really frustrating with my Stratos 34 liter day pack) is that I can really easily slide a full 2.5 liter water bladder into a fully loaded bag. Very very helpful when you want to hit the trail without worrying about the exact order of things. I really don't use the hiking pole holster at all, feels a bit gimmicky to me. Great bag, love it on the trail, expect to get years of use out of it. Of course, you always have Osprey's iron clad guarantee backing the product should something happen.

This is the best pack I have ever used! 5 weeks of wilderness in northern Mongolia and selecting a pack is something unneeded to get right! This pack is comfort beyond comfort. When correctly adjusted to you this pack doesn't move around at all, the AG system allows for all day comfort with out any hotspots, and it fits to the body like no other I have had. A tardis for 65lts with so much room inside! Easy packing, excellent gear storage, rugged material. Love the feature of being able to access the side pocket for your water bottle without taking the pack off, this was the envy of my expedition partner. It took me weeks and weeks of research to decide on buying a new pack and this one really is the very top of the tree. Thank you Osprey!

This was my first real purpose built backpacking pack and I absolutely love it. Provided me with comfort during my entire 3 day Trans Catalina Trail backpacking trip. Provided more space than I needed for 3 days out in the wild.

I have this as well as the AURA for my wife as packed "go bags" in our car/truck. I am very happy we upgraded from the military style I/we were use to. The tool attachment holds our tomahawks and rifles and or tactical shotguns perfectly. The side pouches are perfect for 30 round AR magazine storage as well as sidearm use. The only down side is I had to dye the rain covers to be flat black.

I purchased the Atmos 65 last year and used it on several mulit-day hikes during the winter months. At the time my pack load was around 45lbs but since I've reduced that weight significantly to 25lbs. This is an extremely comfortable pack even loaded heavy while traversing steep rocky terrain. The adjustability is incredible and if you select the right frame size I think you will be able to find the "sweet spot" with the shoulder straps and waist belt after the first few miles. There's enough room in the 65L for average hiking gear. It's not an ultra-light pack and isn't advertised as such. My scale has the pack weighing in at 4.6 lbs and with the removable "brain" you can save an additional 6.2 oz. The pocket separation is nice for organizing and the outer mesh pocket is great for rain gear. The water bladder pocket is inside the pack and I like the strap that holds your bladder in place at the top. The trekking pole loop and securing strap are handy and can be operated on the move. The waist belt zipper pockets can be slightly difficult to zip closed with one hand but not really that bad. Overall I can't imagine a much better pack unless you're trying to go ultra-light and want a pack that weighs a pound or so. I highly recommend it to the typical hiker who is looking for comfort on multi-day, long mileage hikes and wants plenty of room to pack average size gear.

I've had a few different packs over the years and the Atmos AG 65 is unquestionably the best. First of all, it is extremely comfortable. I could find fault with one thing or another about all of my previous packs regarding comfort...waist belt didn't conform/wrap well, shoulder straps were stiff and/or not ergonomically suited to my frame, etc. The Atmos AG 65 has a super cushy waist belt that perfectly conforms to my hips. In addition, the shoulder straps are soft yet very comfortable under heavy load. I've had from 27 to 47 pounds in this pack on multi-day trips and it is comfortable in all situations and loads. My biggest rave about this pack, however, is the mesh back panel. I hike in the southeastern US and it is hot and humid much of the year. With all of my previous packs, my back would be drenched in sweat all day...not any more. I can literally feel the breeze blow across my back now. It is a phenomenal pack and a testament to Osprey's design team. The only attribute that could use a slight tweak is the hip belt pockets are tough to zip closed with one hand. Other than that, this is the perfect pack.

Bought this pack to use while Osprey is replacing my Aether 70. Very comfortable. Carried 40 lbs on 3 day cross country trip in Yosemite. No shoulder pain or lower back pain as with the Aether, but that pack was 6 years old. I hope the Atmos 65 AG is the one Osprey will replace my old pack with. Only problem is the belt pockets are tight and the zipper is impossible to pull closed with one hand while the pack is on. The material bunches up and doesn't allow the zipper to close. Had to have a companion hold the fabric while I pulled the zipper closed. Great design Osprey. The pack is as close to anti gravity as you can get outside of science fiction.

It's my third pack and certainly beat the late two of my packs. The AG back system is worked for me. I use this pack to go on hiking, 2-3 days. No more shoulder ache after I use this pack, the weight distribution is just perfect, lots of pocket, and fancy looking too. Most important of all is the price, really, the cheapest pack availabe in my country. Really miss the rain cover though. But it's really worth every penny you spend. Thanks Osprey

This pack, an Atmos 65 Large, weighs 4 pounds, 14 ounces on very accurate scales--not the 4 pounds, 8 ounces advertised. Other Osprey packs have been much closer to advertised. The Slate Gray color has a lot of green in it. I was expecting a gray closer to the Xeos and Stratos Grays, both of which I have and like the color better than the greenish hue of the Atmos.

I recently purchased this pack for a short backpacking trip in Canyonlands National Park. In selecting a pack, my top priority was that it not compress the lateral cutaneous thigh nerve which passes near the upper front hip bone. On a previous extended trip with my older pack, compression of this nerve by the hipbelt caused a condition in my left thigh called meralgia paraesthetica, in which the skin becomes extremely numb and tingly. Apparently this is not uncommon among backpackers. Since permanent damage can result, I was afraid that my backpacking days might be over. However, with a load of about 35 lbs, the Atmos 65 gave me no problems in Canyonlands. The hipbelt distributed the load evenly around my hips and back without creating any uncomfortable pressure points. The pack had also been properly sized and adjusted by an Osprey representative, so that the hipbelt rested slightly higher than the point where the nerve passes. After a few decades of backpacking behind me, I feel like can now count on more years ahead. The only con about the pack is that the hipbelt pockets developed small holes from abrasion. When the pack is fully loaded and resting on the ground, the curvature of the belt causes these pockets to face downwards and rub against rocks, etc. This is definitely the most comfortable backpack I've ever used - very happy with it!

I have used this pack on two 5-day treks into the Snowmass Wilderness and the Sierra Nevada's. Could not be happier with the overall performance of this pack! Definitely a great pack for minimalist extended hikes (5-12 days) or a more comfort oriented/related trip (>5 days).

This is my second pack by osprey and my first impressions is that this is anther high quality osprey product. Even on a hot and humid day in Texas this suspension systems keeps this pack from becoming overly hot. The mesh also seems to dry quickly durning breaks unlike other packs. The one thing that I would single out to improve on this pack is the location of the hydration hose port. My other osprey pack is a kode 42 and I love how the hydration hose routes through the shoulder strap because this keeps the hose from being annoying and rubbing my head and neck. If osprey could move the hydration hose away from the direct center of the pack the atmos would truly be the most comfortable pack on the market.

Just got done with 30mi, 4/3 Day/nights on AT, snow, rain, sunshine, all of it. Yes it took about a day to really dial in the shoulder & hip belt with this crazy spiderweb AG design, but all packs take that, no worries. Once i got it situated it handled everything great. B/c of variable weather I was in & out of the pack all day, shedding layers, putting cover on/off, getting bladder in/out, etc: it was convenient & accessible. B/c of the way the booger hangs on ya like a monkey it's slightly difficult to get wrapped on ya when first shouldering it, like trying to crawl into a space suit, but really not a big deal - this is me knit-picking trying to be objective & give y'all a con here. Had it fully loaded for winter packing, prob ~ 40-45lbs first day, & it handled it great. If you're looking for a pack to regularly handle more than this then maybe she's not the girl for you, but my knees have sure appreciated me dropping from an 80L pack, so this is my "do-it-all" pack now. Once I ate some of my grub & didn't have my H2O bladder full it was about 35lbs & I felt like I could run like a dang cheetah. Biggest gig is the ventilation- even with layers & shell on it breathed better than I could have hoped. When my buddies dropped their traditionally built packs their backs were soaked, but I was drier than I've been with any other pack. & I usually sweat like a fat biker doing windsprints on the sun. Because of Osprey's overlapping sizes I'm on the cusp of M/L; I like this about Osprey, because people aren't cookie-cutters & their packs adapt to that. My point in saying this is although I'm an experienced hiker I appreciate throwing myself on the mercy of the gear shop and checking my pride at the door; by letting "Thad" or "Hunter" help me properly fit the pack to ME I gain the advantage of new gear designs that have evolved & I would otherwise be ignorant to. So if you have the option, try em on at the shop. I drank the Kool-aid, & it's sweet.

I've hiked a few times with this bag, and I'm very happy with the overall feel of this. So I'm very excited to see how much of a beating this thing can take, during my time in overseas locations that aren't always the most comfortable situations. I'll comment again after a couple of months in the field

I bought the atmos AG back in july, its a great pack with plenty of airflow behind the back. it fits so comfortable that I don't think I will ever go back to a bag without the trampoline AG harness. I use this as a hiking bag and travel bag, and I travel EVERY weekend.. the 4 small problems I have found are 1) the waist belt zippers are really hard to close when you have the pack on your back. 2) I cut off the plastic covering the elastic trekking pole secure on the left shoulder strap and taped it down with duct tape, I found this rubbed against my inner arm when walking. 3) shoulder strap again, the stiff inserts tend to twist inside the strap when mounting the pack on my back, its kind of annoying to have to push and pull at the strap to get it untwisted. 4) this may only be a problem with my pack, but the sleeping bag carrier section on the bottom is developing a hole where it comes in contact with the ground. it started off as an abrasion but the material seems to be coming apart one tuft at a time. nothing a little duct tape cant fix. over all I would still recommend this bag. in fact i'll be buying one for my son when he's a little older.

If you are starting off in your backpacking and adventuring career, this is your pack. Light weight, great ventilation, easy to pack, and at a great price. It does however have two main cons, it proves difficult when adjusting the main frame and the ventilation, though amazing in the summer, is costly in the winter months. I WOULD NOT USE THIS PACK FOR THE WINTER. You will end up applying more layers to your body to compensate for a cold back but your chest will get overheated. In regards to adjustment, its difficult, but ounce properly done is a very nicely fitting pack. Very easy to pack as it boasts a variety of pockets for organization and storage. Great pack overall.

I researched this pack and got it down to two. The AG 50 or 65. I bought the 65 because I was never sure I could meet the weight requirements of the 50. The one issue that I have with the pack is how it fits in the waist. I purchased the taller pack based on the measurements taken in the store. I was between a large and a medium, so went with a large. The issue is that I am slim and have an issue getting the pack to fit snug or tight in the waist. Recently, I did the Camino De Santiago and lost 20 pounds along the way. It was already adjusted but was able to adjusted it a little bit more but I still resorted to stuffing a sock down the back of the suspension in order to prevent it from sliding down. So my one concern would be being able to adjust the waist tighter.

It's a good pack that fits me well. My only gripe would be the less than secure pockets on the sides and back. While wearing it, I haven't had a problem with anything falling out, but before putting it on, I always have to do a double check around the area to make sure nothing has fallen out. It doesn't happen often, but enough to be a reoccurring issue. The zipper pockets on the waist belt can be a bit tricky to open and close one handed while worn.

Ok, Anti-Gravity may be a bit of a stretch, but this really is a great pack. The suspension system is revolutionary and does the job of transferring weight to your hips. It also has excellent ventilation. My only problem is the hip belt pockets. They're too tight to fit much more than a stick of lip balm.
