I have terrible feet for closed shoes and these seem to actually work for me. The toe box is generous and is shaped like your foot. There is lots of cushioning and I really like the zero drop concept of these shoes. I have a pair of Altra Torin 1.5 as well which are equally comfortable but with less cushioning. Nice looking shoe for walking and/or running. I find with Altra it is usually best to order at least half a size up from your normal size to allow enough toe room. I would definitely recommend these for people who have trouble getting some comfortable, closed-toe shoes.

This shoe works for me without my orthotic. I'm a 62 year old woman with problematic feet. I have atrophied foot fat pads, and bunions. My foot is short and wide. My shoe options are limited, and even with a custom orthotic in most of my shoes, my feet hurt, and I can't walk for distances like I used to. This shoe is comfortable as is; the toe area is wide, the support is substantial, and the foot padding is more than adequate. Yeah, they look a bit odd, but then, who cares? And they make me a bit taller, which is also helpful! I'm very happy with this shoe.

These sneakers have LITERALLY changed my life. I have plantar fascitis in both feet, bunions and arthritis in my toe joints. For the past 2 years I've been virtually unable to work out at all or even walk for extended periods of time with tremendous discomfort. These shoes are so cushioned and supportive that they make my problem feet feel normal. THANK YOU

These are wonderful shoes, even if they can't solve all foot problems. The cushioning and stability are great, and of course, the toe box is what all shoes should be like, if you have human feet! I have some numbness in my toes and cannot stand to have them pinched even a little. These shoes do not cause my toes to hurt and burn like other shoes do. I walk/run on a treadmill every day, but also wear them around town. I have "clutch foot" from driving a manual transmission for almost 50 years, but that top of foot pain can't really be helped by the shoe, except that they cause less pain when driving because of the cushioning and stability. I'll be buying another pair as soon as my pension check comes in. They look fine with sportswear.

It took me a long time to find shoes that did not hurt my problem feet. I need a wide toe box to accommodate bunions. My feet hurt all over from being with me for a very long 70 years. I have always been a hiker, runner, skier, etc. Before we knew better, I did very high impact aerobics. With the Olympus 1.5 I continue to hike without pain. I brought the older Olympus model from the Altra website, but they cannot compare. I feel it is important to get the 1.5; roomy and so cushioned. I ordered another pair in black for the winter. I don't want to see these discontinued. They are funny looking. Girls, do not abuse your feet; these things do catch up with you, sadly.

I use these for hiking on uneven, rocky, hilly dirt trails. They are extremely cushioning and comfortable. They have a good grip when going up and down steeper terrain. The shape of the toebox fits my foot perfectly. I love them.

Just got these and have not tried running in them yet so I will update when I do. They seem FANTASTIC. According to other reviews of this brand I ordered 1/2 size up and did not need it. (I am usually an 8 or 39, I ordered an 8.5 and had to return for an 8). These are the first running shoes I have ever had that truly fit my wide toe box and narrow heels. And super cushy. Can't wait to try them out running!

Altra makes very comfortable shoes...however, with these, there is very little padding in the tongue and so it rubbed against the lower part of my ankle so had to return. Have 4 pairs of Altra's with the heavier padded tongue and they are just great.

Really wanted to love this shoe. It felt great when I was standing but my heel came out with each step. I know there are ways to lace shoes to keep the heel in but I have a very high, full volume foot and lacing to keep the heel in was painful. If not for that issue I think these would have been wonderful. They really do have ample room for toes.

These shoes are very comfortable! The square toe box means plenty of room and comfort without pinching as I have found with other shoes like Hoka One One, especially with foot swelling.

If you have wide feet, this is the one to get. Since some running shoe manufacturers won't make wide widths, this is the next best thing. Could be a bit more comfy on top, but at least there is no godawful seam killing me.

I want to wear these shoes, i know they would be so comfortable but it is so wide my foot slides around in it. I do not have a narrow foot, my foot is actually on the wide side and they were too wide for me. thank you Zappos for you exchange and return policy. you made it possible to give these shoes a 2nd chance but sadly they need to return to you.

These shoes are pretty great. I have a toe that's trying to draw up as well as a supposedly fused ankle, so I have some forefoot pain. I've worn these about two weeks? While they're not miracles workers, the pain has definitely subsided. They're not quite as cushiony as I expected, but still very comfortable. I'd recommend them to anyone with forefoot pain.

Thank you! I have recently been diagnosed with Morton's Neruoma. Couple that with a job that has me walking/standing in a warehouse for half the day, I was in dire need of comfort. First day out of the box they are perfect! I didn't wear my orthotics because I felt they took away from the zero drop, and I didn't even miss them. If you have MN, give these a try. If you are on your feet all day, give these a try! I am not back to running, yet, but I feel with these on meet feet I can give it a try this weekend! So happy!

THESE ARE THE BEST SHOES EVER! I have all kinds of foot problems--bunions, hammertoe, arthritis, steel pins in two toes, etc. I bought a pair of these shoes and they are heavenly! The toe box is not only wide enough, it has vertical room as well. I have NEVER written a review on any shoe before, but these shoes are amazing! Worth every penny!

Although other reviewers have advised ordering a half size up from normal, and I have done that with every other running shoe, I did not need it on THIS shoe! Also, this is a wider shoe than any other running shoe I have owned (lots of Asics and Brooks). The size 9 was WAY large, even with my orthotic in it. But the 8.5 almost too short, but not "flopping" on my feet like the 9. The key is to use the laces to seat your heels all the way into the back of the shoe. This is the first shoe that is comfortable without my custom orthotic. It has super cushioning, so that even with my worn down feet, there is no pain. It is also wide enough that my bunions are not pinched up and hurting. Have only been in these a few days, but I believe that they are going to give my feet a lot of relief.

I just bought a pair of Olympus 1.5s after a negative experience with Hokas. This shoe is exactly what I was looking for; lots of cushion, wide toe box, and no problems with pressure on the ball of my foot, due to the shoe being zero drop. This model is great, I just wish they made it in more colors.

Finally--an athletic shoe for real feet. This shoe is super-comfortable right out of the box, though I did end up having to go up a full size from usual. Don't care; I can now walk in comfort. Do wish this style came in leather for cooler weather. Tried the Altra walking shoe, but it was too narrow.

I love these shoes. I had a big toe fusion 12 weeks ago and these are the only shoes that I can wear all day. I think it is a combination of zero drop, wide toe box, toe depth, and cushion support. I bought the grey/mint/coral in size 8, which I normally wear, and they felt true to size for me. I also wear an 8 in the Altra Torin. I do not run, but am on my feet a lot in these and they are great.

These are great athletic shoes that I will try out on the treadmill tomorrow. It is true that if you have duck feet like me your toes will feel liberated! Many have said that the shoes are ugly, but I think the duck bill toe box is cute. One thing to note: they had a strong rubber smell out of the box. I know that they are sneakers, but it was stronger than is typical. They seem really sturdy and well made. I hope so as I have a terrible time finding any shoes to fit my jacked up (plantar fasciitis in both) feet.

This is my second pair, which lets you know how much I like it. Clunky shoe that protects my very hard to please feet. Although clunky, everyone still thinks it's cool, and they admire my verve.

I just received my Altra Zero Drop Olympus 1.5's in grey/green/coral. At first they looked huge, I ordered a 9 (depending on the shoe I take an 8.5 or 9 med.) but when I put them on they fit perfect and my feet are on clouds! I have princess and pea feet, feel every little thing. I can spread my toes inside the toe box, arch is very comfortable (I have a low arch), and when I walk the cush is wonderful along with the rocker bottom. I also am not a runner. I needed a new pair of hiking/walking shoes. I have plantar fasciitis and a soft tissue injury on the top of my foot that can be aggravated when not wearing my FitFlops, Clarks.Wave maryjanes, or Keens. Right now I am wearing them around the house to make sure...but I think these will be keepers! Zappos delivery and customer service is unmatched, the best!

I got these on the advise of my doctor to help with a toe injury. I love the "foot shape" and the rocker bottom. I've worn the every day, all day for about a month and they're great. I got the black so that I could wear them with pants during the day and not draw attention to my shoes. I didn't notice the zero drop at all.

You do need to size up in these. I usually wear a 7.5, and an 8 in running shoes, but got an 8.5 in these. The Altra Olympus are the only running shoes I've worn that have 100% prevented knee pain while running! Normally, I can't run over 10 minutes without pain in my knees (and I'm only 22). With these, I can run for miles and have no problems. I highly recommend these shoes for anyone with knee problems, marathon runners, or anyone wanting an ultra cushioned shoe for any reason. And they're not the worst looking ultra cushioned shoe out there. I also tried out some Hoka One One's which were good, but kept the Altras because they don't grip as tightly on my ankles.
