I have duck shaped feet...wide at the toes, average to narrow in the heel. I typically wear an E width in most shoes. I tried dozens of shoes, including the wide versions of Lake, Sidi, etc., but none offered the comfort of the M089. A month after purchasing these, was off on a 200+mile bike tour of Sicily. No pain, no hot spots, easy for walking and, ironically, the shoe of choice for one of our guides. Not the most stylish or techno, but my feet were grateful. And Sicily was unbelievable...go there.

Shoes fits well for my wide foot but very disappointed that the shoes were shipped without the plate to attach the cleats too. I was aware that I needed to purchase cleats separately but was disappointed that I had to go out to cycle shop to buy a bottom plate too.

Good choice for those who need a wide toe box. I tried on several brands of "wide" MTB shoes and this was the only one I could find that was a true wide.

This is a lovely shoe, but not at all Wide as marked. It may well be wider than the normal width cycling shoe that Shimano make, but I would question the validity of the E width rating, my sneakers and shoes are all much wider with an E sizing. Length was perfect and matched the 48 sizing. Alas had to return. :-(

Great shoes - but note, Shimano does NOT make a medium width. If you order, Zappos will ship you a regular. (I called Shimano and asked after receiving my 2nd pair of 44's when I ordered a 44D. Your choices are Regular or Wide, which is an E. Zappos very nice about returns, and very quick, but they have not fixed this page.) For what it's worth, I normally wear a 10D. I've been told cycling shoes should be a little snug, so bought 44, not 45. D's would have been great, if they existed, but E seems to be fine. Very comfortable. Easy to click in and out of the pedals. The ratchet strap is very helpful - worth buying the better Shimano model to get that feature.

Note: I didn't purchase a wide model. Secures nicely, quickly, and easily. I don't understand some reviews aversion to the cross straps you get used to it pretty quickly. I find mine to be very comfortable with an above average size toe box (important to me). The torsion flex seems to help with knee discomfort but could be placebo. You still get a nice solid push. Perfectly walkable for a bike shoe. The toe gives a little to help with this and I rarely hear the cleat contact a level surface. Could breathe and look a little better.

This shoe is lightweight with xtra-stiff soles that support my foot. After a slight fracture, these enabled me to keep riding in complete comfort. I bought the wides & am totally satisfied!

I typically wear 12 to 13 4-E shoes. This is my first pair of bike shoes and I am using Time ATAC cleats. I purchased a 48W in these bike shoes and that fits with just the smallest of front to back space. They are snug on the sides, but not painful. This would not be okay normally for walking shoes but because I see this as needing to fit as close as possible to maximize the power transfer leg to pedal its perfect for me. I really feel that when I put these on the fit is so good that it changes my whole riding experience. I am locked in, straight, supported. I do not have any issues with the opposing straps like some others have noted. The straps that ratchet work great and I also like the slightly gummy nature of the sole. They are easy to walk in. On uneven concrete my cleats occasionally make contact but not on floors.

Perfect shoe for my wide, square feet. I tend to wear a 42 but got these in 43 and they fit great. I wear these to commute. Walking around is plenty comfy if you can get past the cleat grinding (I use spd's, YMMV with Time or Eggbeater cleats).

These run much smaller and narrower than I expected. I already had some Bontrager bike shoes that were normal width. I ordered these shoes to try to go wider, because I was having issues with my toes being squeezed. But these shoes (the wide ones, mind you) were even narrower than my current shoes. If you have wide feet, beware these shoes.

This shoe is sold as a wide. It is not a wide shoe. It is actually pretty narrow. My Sidi shoes were not wide and these were not as wide as those. Sidi shoes were 44.5 and these were 45. These are at least 1.5" longer than my 44.5 shoe. Heel doesn't grip my heel well and toe box feels tight.
