Color is much more gray than photos. Looks black but is actually gray. Toe box very narrow.

Good shoe for cool or wet times. Not good in hot weather. Need the shoe in a non gortex option so it's not like wearing a plastic bag on your foot in hot weather.

Overall disappointed in the new version of Hedgehogs. Been wearing them since the beginning. They look cheaply constructed and the heel cradle is no where near as robust as it has been in the past. This will be the last pair of NF shoes for me.

Wanted to like these shoes, since I've been very happy with North Face hiking shoes for a long, long time. But I can't. These shoes are just too small (I've ordered the same size for years). So North Face seems to have changed something. Disappointing!

I thought these shoes looked good online. When I got them, I was a little disappointed. They look pretty much the same online, however the colors in person look just a little off. When I put them on they were very stiff, I figured wearing them around for a few days would help, however it didn't. After wearing them all day the balls of my ankles were sore and wore out. They were overall uncomfortable to wear compared to other brands of hiking shoes/boots. The only thing I really liked about these are the soles/tred on these are great. Walking on trails and in the woods they gripped very well. I wish the tred on these were another brand of shoes. I also have wide feet and they seemed too narrow to wear at all times, they never really broke in and stretched out.

For the price of these you would expect them to feel more comfortable. Very little foot support (feels like walking on a hard floor) compared to my Merrell shoe that it was replacing. I have not had a chance to see how water resistant they are. Only time will tell how well they last and I am hoping that they will become more comfortable with wear (so far this does not seem to be likely and I will most likely be returning them and going back to another pair of my old shoes). They look great...

I bought these last year in December. By the following year in October, the sole of both shoes has collapsed leaving bumps that I feel every time I wear them. I was expecting at least one year of life from North face shoes.

Bought for Hiking, mostly on maintained trails. Were good for about 3 miles. They went downhill fast afterward. Felt like I was walking on two narrows boards in my shoe. 58 yrs old & just finished a battle with cancer so I look forward to getting out on the trails. I barely made it back to my car this day. The last mile was shear torture! What a waste of money.

I put in some insoles to make this wearable.
It seems like these are a little bigger than other brands of the same size.

I was so excited to get these! I needed something to wear daily in the winter, not necessarily for snow, but to keep my feet warm and dry during my daily routine. I was absolutely shocked at how big, specifically the width, these ran. I would like to think my feet are normal width, but buying my normal shoe size of 11 was just too much. Even laced, I could fully stick my fingers down next to my ankle -- I've never tried anything on like it -- it was so disappointing. Unfortunately, I don't think sizing down would really help as I still feel that a proportionally smaller, and shorter, shoe wouldn't necessarily be enough to curb the width. Totally bummed!

It looked very nice but I felt it lacked proper support didn't have a cushion feel and overall have to say I was disappointed for the price point. I returned them

Bought it new and came in and mesh in the front was all wringled and when I asked for an exchange they said not possible. I had to return the item and wait more than a week for a refund. They said after the refund I can buy another pair. So when I tried to buy to see if they can send another one with no wrinkled mesh they were sold out so I was S.O.L. Shame on northface.

Sorry if you are looking for a comfortable pair of shoes to walk or hike in these shoes are NOT for you. They run real narrow and are not comfortable. Look for some other shoes !!

Horrible. Hard and stiff, like an old schools pair of dress shoes that hurt your feet until they finally broke in. Do not buy.

1st set of shoe laces broke after 2 months of day to day use at a desk job. The replacement laces from North Face just broke after 2 months (They were also excessively long so I had to triple knot them). 3rd set is on its way. The metal eyelets that the laces travel through have a sharp edge that causes the lace sheathing to wear down and eventually break. The edges should have a larger radius. The laces of my previous pair of North Face shoe lasted the life of the shoe (4 - 5 years). They did not have metal eyelets.
Josh from Customer Service:
"Good Morning, thank you for contacting The North Face,
Shoelace's, such as the ones we use in our hiking shoes, are just like a piece of kermantle accessory cord, with a inner nylon woven core and a nylon sheath. As with any piece of cord, especially one that is used every day, they will wear out from use."
I guess it's perfectly acceptable for laces to last 2 months at a desk job with a hiking shoe.

I've had a problem with the laces on every one of the 4 pairs that I have purchased. These laces break long before the shoes are beginning to wear, and North Face is no help. They don't stock replacement laces and offer no suggestion how to resolve the problem.

I liked the style but the fit isn't correct. I did not realize that the toe area is narrow and that was causing aches in my foot. But I cannot return since it's over 6 months since I bought them although I have used very little. I would certainly get a bigger size.

This is the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn. I have purchased many NF shoes in my life and have always been happy. For some reason, this one was very different. No padding at all for the insole, felt like wearing army boots.. And the heel was pinching me in a painful way. Just brutal overall.
I'd also recommend:

I'm not sure on what planet these shoes would be considered waterproof. My first trip out on a rainy day led to soaked socks and shoes that, after 12 hours (so far) are still saturated. It was a heavy rain, but I avoided puddles and was only out for about 20 minutes.
Nice looking and fit great, but if you're looking for waterproof footwear, look elsewhere. As soon as my pair dries, I will be returning them.

Although marked wide the shoe wasn't wide. I returned it without issue. I did appreciate the New Taupe Green color.
