Hubby loves these pants. They very much "look" like touristy hiking pants (that parachute material look is a giveaway), BUT they are supremely comfortable. Good sun protection, great stretch, light weight, quick drying. The fabric is a bit delicate--I snagged mine pretty good on some blackberry bushes and they have a big scar there. As long as you're not trying to be an incognito tourist, I highly recommend these for warm weather. If you want to go incognito, the Kuhl Slackr is much more like jeans/khakis and doesn't have the sheen, but is much warmer and thus not ideal for hot climates.
These fit a slimmer figure better--hubby is a bean stalk and they kind of give him a figure. If you have thunder thighs, these will probably be too snug.
I'd also recommend:

The older version of the Arch Rock Pants with real belt loops is an excellent pair of pants for almost any occasion. Comfortable but still good looking enough to wear for work/casual/active wear.

These were my go to pants with and without base layers in Iceland for a week. They are super packable and they layered nicely under rain pants for wet days also. These pants are super comfy and I find my self wearing a them casually as well as having them as my go to for hiking/multi-day backpacking. I am 6'1, 210 and XL/standard length fit me perfectly.

These pants are exactly what I was expecting. Lightweight breathable material dwr is there but minimal they do dry fast however so that's a plus. From my experience fly fishing this is a great summer bushwhacking tick protecting wet wading pant.

Slim/athletic fit. I've finally found some size 28 waist pants that fit really well (perhaps just slightly larger than a size 28) without having short pant leg.

A friend recommended these hiking pants. I bought two pairs and I love them. I'm 5'11" 240 and am a tweener between XL and XXL or 38/40 for pants sizes. These fit basically perfect. They're everything I was hoping they'd be and I'm probably going to buy another pair or two. They are thin so for cold weather I'd probably wear something underneath, but other than that they are awesome. I feel like I could wear them in hot weather and not be smothered by them.

Light weight, durable, does not restrict movement and solid wind protection. Loose fit which allows a thin under layer if needed.

I love climbing/hiking/outdoor pants that work great for those purposes, but that I can wear into town for a beer afterwards, as well. The Arch Rock pants fit the bill. They are a thin, but durable, material that so far has held up well to bouldering and climbing. The "short" version fits my 30" inseam really well and for climbing or warm days I can roll up the cuffs and they're perfect. The pockets are nice and deep and the side pocket has a zipper for any valuables.
They're styled fairly subtly, so you'll have no problem popping into town after a hiking/backpacking/climbing trip for an apres-adventure meal and beer. I'm usually between a 31" and 32" waist and got the 32" - they seem to run a little bit larger than most 32's that I buy, but fit really well with a belt and don't look like they're too big when I'm wearing them.

Glad this is offered in "short" inseam. I'm 5'9 and this fits perfectly. The quality is top notch. I have three pairs that I wear in any season. Easy to care for, also.

I've had the pants for a little over a month, long enough to wear in some warmer and cooler temperatures. I honestly don't find them any hotter than shorts in warm weather, and prefer the extra coverage long pants provide in rocky terrain.
The short length avoids the pants dragging, and still long enough to avoid the flood-pants moniker. The fit is similar to relaxed jeans or khakis, and is easily passable for casual business attire, without the need to change for before/after work hike.
I'm 5'-6", 175 lbs, and the fit with a 34 is darn near perfect. I also purchased a pair of Marmot Highland Pants (short), which handle cooler temps and more rugged terrain a little better. The fit is virtually identical to the Arch Rock (short), and the two compliment each other covering at least 3 of 4 seasons outdoors, and all 4 with a baselayer under the Highland.
Both pair have double fabric at the cuff to avoid shredding, which is a really nice touch for their intended use.

I've had these for a few weeks, and have worn on a few cooler hikes. Fit and fabric feel are exceptional! I typically wear 34" waist pants, 32" inseam, but occasionally wear out the pants leg cuff from dragging on the ground a little. The shorter length of the Arch Rock Pants (short) prevents this, without the high-water-ready look of some other short-cut pants. The fabric is highly breathable, but does a good job blocking wind, and reinforced seat and knees provide a little additional durability and warmth. The draw cords on the pant cuffs are a nice touch, and I'm finding these make a good casual pant for the office, in addition to making the walk to/from work more comfortable in all seasons.
Fabric is stretchy, but holds its shape after multiple machine washings. Fit is generous enough to allow a baselayer for colder temps. I'm looking forward to running these cross-country skiing, where alpine shells seem like overkill.
Overall very satisfied with this purchase. The short length in 34" waist fits my 5'-6", 175 lb frame just about perfectly, and these are now one of the first pieces I'll throw on before heading out.

I bought these ahead of my epic Grand Canyon backpacking trip because of the expected heat and dust. They did not disappoint! Being so thin and comfortable, they are as free and cool as wearing shorts but without the dust and sunburn. They have several handy pockets and seem very well made. I highly recommend these pants for hot weather hiking.

Simply the best pants made for anyone who actually moves around throughout the day. Marmot is all I wear, every single day of the week.
