This is the lightest, coolest, most comfortable shoe I have ever had. Unfortunately, a defective eyelet started to shred the shoelace before falling out. I plan to ask Zappos to send me a replacement.

I am a little disappointed. This shoe is highly rated as a hiking shoe, yet it has little protection with regard to prevention of dust and dirt intrusion. The top of the shoe is mesh. As such, this is good for ventilation, but dirt from the trail will easily get in. The toe box is wide. For me this is good because I have a wide foot. Those with narrow feet might want to choose something else.

The material on the top front of the shoe was bunched up.

Despite past success with Merrell - my son said these were not comfortable at all and wouldn't even give them a solid walk around.....

They had a weird seam that ran along the inside of my arch. I could tell that they were going to cause blisters so I ended up returning them. It's almost like they should've had an insert covering that part but there wasn't even a removable one. I ended up trying more Merrells on at a shoe store and they were all like this.
I'd also recommend:

I wanted ventilated hiking shoes for the summer and these looked like the best choice. Used them on a 7-day 200 km hike. Developed blisters under both my big toes on the first day that were an issue for the whole trip. My feet just always had an overall soreness which was a hindrance. Walking on pavement was painful at times. I haven't had this problem before so I wonder if these shoes lack adequate padding for long distance hikes. They are nice shoes, I like the build and ventilation.. but I won't use them for long distance again.

I have wide feet (12EEE), so I tried to plan accordingly and saw many people said that the fit was a bit wider. It fit great in the toes and balls of my feet. But as it went back to the heel, the arch area narrowed and dug up into the front inside portion of my heel. I thought break it may solve this but the more I walked around my house the more it hurt. I inspected it and saw how I was actually pushing the side over the sole ridges. I did not see a wider shoe size so I returned it to the store for a different product.

Was hoping for a shoe more like the Mother of all hiking shoes. Returned them and ordered just that shoe. Much happier. Not much support and low back.

I like these shoes a lot and am bummed I have to return them. I have a low volume, i.e. narrow foot, and these are just way to wide/voluminous for me. I have 5 other Merrill's and I've never had this problem before which is why I come back - I've always had a good fit.

Exactly what I'm looking for but again Merrill neglects to make it in a wide. ??

Got these for florida trail. Everywhere in florida there is sand. Sand falls through the mesh of the shoe and gets trapped between the foot and sole. With or without socks. Not ideal to stop and dump sand out every 1/4 mile. The sand makes you very aware of your feet, which sucks for hiking because the hike feels much longer. Not ideal for sand. I also find them uncomfortable when wet and even up in the 46ers in NY, the dirt gets in the shoes same way as sand. Stick with shoes that dont have mesh like these.

very comfortable shoe with great traction on smooth stones. very lightweight, breathable and fast drying, but I have owned these for a month and a half and with twice weekly use they have worn them through where the toe pivots. Surprisingly fast wear for such a seemingly rugged shoe

I wear a size 15 which most stores don't carry so I shop on-line. But when this pair of size 15 arrived they were more like size 16 or 17. They were very comfortable but too large. Their size is why I gave them only 3 stars. And although I now see that the description does say that they have a mesh upper, I didn't realize how open they were. I'm sure they would be fine if that is what you're looking for. I have at least 3 other pairs of Merrell shoes that fit and wear great. But I had to return these.

Why is Merrell building such an extreme arch now? It wasn't in the previous shoe's model. If a customer needs that much arch support, they have the option of insoles. For the majority of feet out there, this shoe is now downright painful.

I bought these pair a while ago. As I like Merrell shoes, I keep buying them even though I don’t wear them very often. This pair of shoe, I wore may be just 20 times in last 3 years since I bought. Recently while traveling abroad in this the glued cover at the right toe come off on its own. I’ve tried to glue it back using some shoe adhesive, but it doesn’t stick well and made the shoes look not so good. I’m very unsatisfied with it, especially since I’ve hardly used the product. I liked Merrell shoes, but now I’ll be careful and look for other brands

The size of the shoe length and width were adequate. The arch is way overkill. It actually hurts my foot to wear them due to the high arch and the fact that it has very little give. I will not purchase these again.

Sneakers look awesome and fit well, but there is very little support in terms of the sole and it is VERY flexible. I walk 5-6 miles per day and developed a stress fracture within a few weeks of wearing these. Beware - not a great choice for people who walk a lot.

The build quality and style seemed nice but it didn't fit my foot well, and I tried on two different colors of the same shoe. For some reason this style rubbed on the outside of the mid-section of my foot. The arch support was moderate, but not sufficient for someone wanting more than average support.

I had the chance to try these in my normal women's size and ordered them in men's, which were just slightly larger at the analogous size. They fit perfectly that way, but would have rubbed my little toe in the women's size. I really wanted to love these shoes, but...I didn't. They just weren't comfortable, and felt as though the footbed was oddly lumpy. I just sent them back and reordered the Gloves, which have a perfect footbed. (How can Merrell get it so right with one shoe and so wrong with the next?) I'd wanted an option with a little more cushion, but I guess this shoe won't be it!

After three pairs of Merrell shoes, I'm quite disappointed in these. The quality isn't there. Too short and cheap nylon laces that won't stay tied, the mesh cloth on toe area has unattractive wrinkles sewn-in. The tape eyelets make it difficult to tighten the laces. They're comfortable enough, but not a hiking shoe unless you stick to smooth and stoneless paths due to the thin sole. Since I wore them outside for a day, I won't be returning them.

Bought these for my husband who has a very long narrow foot (size 15). Purchased these in a 15 M and they were too narrow for his already narrow foot! He said it felt like he was walking on the inside side of the shoe. They are going back and we will be ordering something else. Thank goodness for Zappos superior customer service!

I am sorry to have to write this but I sent them back and ordered a different pair. They were kind of odd looking the left shoe looked different than the right. It was in the manufacturing process. The right and left were made different and it caused them to look and feel strange when you had them on.

My only problem with these shoes thus far is that they are very, very narrow in the arches. After wearing them all day my feet feel pretty tired. Also, the vents are more open than I realized, so not very good in a sandy environment. Other than that, very well put together and good ventilation. Walking over rough rocks is not at all a problem. If you have higher arches or narrow feet I would recommend these. Flat, wide feet? Not so much.

Not a solid shoe. Fits larger than past Merrells I've purchased in same size. Not happy at all with my purchase
